Apparently justin beiber was seen on a mountainbike in a forest outside of a northern swedish village s couple of years ago, if that counts lol. ** i just vaguely remembered this while falling asleep yesterday but I looked it up and yep in 2017 he was hanging out in the woods around the village Boden in northern Sweden, it was on the news and everything. Apparently it was between gigs in Norway/Sweden. Well the more you know lol

Outdoor retreat needs a refresh. Some work on the world itself, swimmable lake, more outdoor activities and the ability to live there if you want.

  • @dbseamz

I don't care about living there, I just want the option to visit the world like a day trip. Unlike Selvadorada, it makes sense not to be able to live in Granite Falls, since it's supposed to be like a protected national forest where paying for the rentals helps contribute to the rangers' salaries and keeping the place nice. But I would love the option to just come there in the daytime without planning an overnight stay. Wouldn't it be neat to have a little popup if you're still in Granite Falls when it gets dark that says "The park is closing for daytime visitors. Would you like to return home or rent a lot to stay overnight?" and the "stay overnight" option would bring you to the same menu you use now to plan a vacation there. Totally agree with you about making the lake swimmable. My storyline-headcanon for why it isn't is that the water is too cold, but Sims will autonomously try to swim outdoors in winter elsewhere so that doesn't work as well as I had thought.

Keep in mind that outdoor retreat goes really well with jungle adventure. The fact that almost everything is portable means you can take it with you to the jungle. Also the world itself is pretty bare on details, and a pretty huge missed opportunity to have a hidden lot on the boarded-in cave entrance. Heck, I'd accept it being a new entrance to the Forgotten Grotto caves. Just something to fill the world. There's bits of scenery like a couple garden benches off the path near the edge of the cliff, but there's not much point in roaming when the world is so small and sparce.

Other than the lackluster world, it's still one of the best game packs if you want what it offers. On-theme CAS, multiple gameplay paths, aspirations you can't just finish in a day, no gamebreaking bugs, constantly updated with new packs (like umbrellas, ability to exclude vampires from coming to your house etc.). Dare I say it's the best pack from the era it came out in, almost no other pack holds up this well still.

You can make the bug repellent from this pack and use it to protect your SIM from insects on their jungle adventures. So you're SIM won't be bothered by airborne gnats, public bathroom mosquitoes and random attacks by bees etc while excavating will only occur after the repellent wears off. I recommend a reapply every 4 hours to repel all those creepy crawlies.

I'm not an outdoors person, so it occurred to me to create a guy character for the first time in my life in early 2015 when Outdoor Retreat came out for me, He liked fishing, the outdoors and collecting an had a golden retreiver. . He met the hermit and fell in love with her, so I had to research how to move her to his world and get a new hermit. Meanwhile as he was dating the hermit, he collected and farmed, in rags to riches at home, to go from just having a plot of land to having a small basically furnished cabin with a large farm. When she moved in, they kept farming and built a second story to their one room cabin and also a bathroom. Eventually the oldest son went to college with some of my other characters, including Moana Motunui from Island Living in College and they started dating. After the outdoorsy guy left with his new bride, he only went back a couple of times with the family but they hated it and then I took my 3 witches only to collect bugs for their spells as they didn't not enjoy camping either.

I think, while limited, its got a few cute gameplay features, and Sulani as a world is genuinely really pretty. Especially seeing as how we've gotten the werewolves recently, I wish the Sims team would go back and update their older occult Sims.

I love going to the park and seeing sims in the woods playing games on their phones. It's relatable, but I wish there was some kind of mechanic that they would run out of power or not have wi-fi.

I know taking selfies together has replaced it, since it is more powerful, but when this first released and for years after, cloud gazing together (which came with outdoor retreat) was the best way to boost relationships ! I don’t do the herbalism skill that often because it’s very grindy but I do have a few sims who maxed it and a saved room with all the herbalism potions and I use those to set up like a crystals and remedies type shop that sells the herbalism potions. Perfect for my sims that need fertility elixirs, or for gearing up before going to the jungle.

I use this pack all the time because my Sims are so often outdoorsy. Everyone wears the hiking boots or utility shorts. Kids always take up scouting, so there's always a family camping trip. But I've barely messed with herbalism, weirdly enough.

I didn’t get The Sims 4 until 2020 and Outdoor Retreat was the second game pack I got (the first was Parenthood). I got both during a sale and I can’t say I’ve gone camping a lot, yet, but I definitely use the CAS a lot. The shoes are used in almost every household I make. I love that braid hairstyle. The clothes is pretty in my style, too. And it’s got some nice furniture. I don’t use all of it, but I definitely think it was worth it.

My first pack in the sims 4 was City living. I remember having sooo much fun with it. Like I can't play like that nowadays and I don't really know why. I'd love to have outdoor retreat since my sims in his midlife crises wanted to go camping so bad (there was no other request than gathering around fire pit, sleep in a tent...) that I had to try it with the tents from snowy escape and the firer pit from get together. But I could feel it wasn't like the real outdoor retreat pack and now your video convinced me !

The bug collecting was my favorite part of sims 3. And i was so disappointed that they got rid of it for sims 4. And even tho they brought it back in outdoor retreat, i wish it was incorporated into the residential worlds. I also wish they would have kept adding hidden worlds to the game

Honestly I keep hoping that outdoor retreat will get a pack refresh, there are so many fun mechanics from other packs that could be easily implemented in that one (rock climbing, swimming in the lakes, etc). Also if they made it so we can place the bug spawners in other worlds and lots even the herbalism skill would be 10 times better. I use that skill a lot when I make spellcasters, I'll have them sell potions in tonics in a retail store a lot of times.

I use the Outdoor Retreat CAS a lot for my side family. I did a 100 baby recently, and I moved them in with their dad's household if there was room. Well, number 4, Opal's dad died during woo-hoo after his husband died during woo-hoo. So I had her marry Cecilia Kang and move into the New Start house. They had children, and I added more beds in the house and fixed their outfits. I'd give them a CAS spouse so they would continue having children. Because they lived in the cottage world, they needed good boots for yard work and good outdoor clothes, and I tried to give them different shoes than their siblings, so a good amount of Outdoor Retreat CAS. I would have the family and extended family over for portraits when they were adults and elders, for my hall of portraits. 3 sims show me that I had a favorite pair of jeans by standing near each other after getting their picture taken. My IRL family, some of us have matching shoes, and we like to stand next to each other in our Merrill shoes, the unofficial shoe of Googlers.

I was really excited for Outdoor Retreat when it came out because my family spends a lot of summer at our cottage and I thought this was the closest I could get to that in the Sims. Had a family of parents + two children go on vacation and... Quickly realised there was nothing to do. I was incredibly bored after the first day. Haven't gone on vacation in Sims 4 since lol
