Playing Mars: War Logs: The Virtuous Mission

Ойындар

In this review, we head off to sort out Mars and find the problem is beyond repair, but it was worth trying. Join Roy as he does things and Innocence as he writes it down in the Mars: War Log(s). I also cannot say Aurora well

You know, in the Technomancer review Snake says that the Sean of that game was too nice to ever become the Sean of this game. But here he makes a good point that the prison is the nicest place on the planet, so... I don't see the contradiction. Good on Spiders for the consistent characterization and world building. Also, 21:20 becomes such a hilarious line armed with the future knowledge that Snake will accidentally sneak past the sequel's final boss.

In the second game it's explained. Mars wasn't moved, the sun just expanded and started to burn hotter. In the mean time, the earth is just fried, there isn't even a planet anymore where the Earth was. So, in a sense, the mars IS a Mercury now, as in "the closest to the sun" planet.

Just to give an example as to why the technomancers wouldn't explain about overload to the younger ones, is similar to how conservative christians want sex ed to be abstinence only education. As in, they don't tell them jack shit except, don't do it. My ex wife's family were conservatives, and she didn't find out what a period was until she had her first. It may be a fundamental part of life, but that won't stop people from not telling the younger generation information that would help them.

Ah, Mars: War logs. I forgot the game. Actually liked it on my first playthrough despite the jank and horrible graphics. Tried to play it again a few years later die to rose-tinted nostalgia and didn't manage to get out of the prison before I had to stop and put the game down. It wasn't a particularly up-to-date game back then and it certainly didn't age very well after that. It also doesn't help that the prison is rather bland as an area. The other stuff was fine narratively so it's a bit of a shame I didn't manage to get there again.

This game was fun and not super long either. I enjoy Spider’s games.

I just realized that Roy's voice actor may be the same one for J.C. Denton in Deus Ex.

It’s like someone played ELEX, fell asleep during most of the story and had to bullshit their way through by putting it on Mars but keeping the mutants and the “your choices matter” crap. Jankier than a PiranhaBytes game, with a not terrible combat system is a real accomplishment.

The graphics are both good and bad. It's actually a lot more fun and better looking than I was expecting having heard little of this title over the years.
