Dude!! This was my childhood best friend. We drifted apart over the years but I recognized him instantly. That's so cool to see how far he's come, he's extremely musically gifted and he's extremely smart. Happy for you my guy! Edit: Also what's crazy is when we were kids we were both really into science and robotics, now after years apart we're both heavily into playing guitar, he plays other instruments too that I have no clue how to play, but still cool.

This raises a good point though, why don't we have a stringed instrument that you blow into at a specific angle to rattle the strings? Then you use keys of sorts to lightly choke the string/strings at certain spots for other sounds... Like a stringed flute if you will, it could work if the string was loose enough to wobble from basic blowing. 😝

Oh this makes me so happy to hear!🥰 I’m almost done making a wind EP so expect some more music soon!
Here in Chile, in a city called La Ligua, we have a unique instrument called "El Viento," which means "The Wind." It's a wind instrument made from steel sheets and wires that produces calm and soft tones when the wind blows through it (though sometimes it can be a little eerie). It was built in 1986 on the top of a hydroelectric plant, and it's a giant structure with a beautiful view of the valley.

@@beau1908 Thanks to your comment, I tried fitting myself with two guitars to get an idea of what that type of harness would entail. It is actually just as easy to use two guitars with normal straps. You put one guitar on your back as if your back was facing forward, and the other guitar you put on normally. Just keep the angle of the guitar on your back more vertical and tighten the strap in place with the normally positioned guitar strap over the top.

I’m currently in the process of kicking off a KZread series! Stay tuned
I played guitar at the beach in the winter everyday back in 2019. I'd get these wind harmonics going while fingerpicking and with the guitar in my lap. The wind would often blow strong enough that it would feel like it was going to blow my guitar away. Sometimes I liked how angelic it sounded, and other times it sounded abrasive. I left the beach area shortly after. But I still remember those days as a really peaceful time. Nice to see this video and be reminded of that time in my life.
I come from a pretty grim world, and I tend to only see things a certain way because of this. I see people and things in a manner that puts me pretty far away from others, even if I'm right next to someone. But seeing this video.. It makes me feel like things are going to be okay. The simplicity of two beings who came together, not for money, or fame.. but to just sit, enjoy one another's company, and play in the wind... wow. It gives me hope. Like seeing two kids in a sandbox playing life. The serenity of the music, and the wholesomeness of the vibe just solidifies how undeniably beautiful this video is. I'm so fortunate to have come across this video. Thabk you for sharing this.
I really appreciate how Rob just accompanies Jaden and improvises. Just letting a master do their thing and making them sound even better.
The sand blowing added a really cool texture to the sound. It almost sounds like an old record player....
So once we were camping on the beach and I ended up sleeping on the sand, using the guitar as a pillow (yeah…). Next morning I was awoken by this ethereal sounds, lovely harmonics coming from nowhere, later I realized it must have been the guitar being played by the morning breeze. Lovely stuff.
It sounds like this is the way mutter is supposed to sound with the winds harmonics. Like its a token about the winds "Mutter". Wonderful video. I'm glad people can come together and enjoy music and share new perspectives on what it has to offer.
From 10:32 til 11:33 needs to be published as a track to listen to, it's so beautiful including the laughs at the end

It looks like a wonderful spot to lose yourself and become Zen. But I love my acoustic toooo much to find out what salt air and sand could do with it.

There's a similar one in San Francisco, not nearly as impressive as the Croatian one, but similar idea
Environmental music (that is, music where the place has a key role in the performance) is something I'd love to see more of!

Been trying to figure out how to describe stuff like this for a while without long explanations to people, I didn't know it was a genre but I totally agree! Thank you for saying this from a former parking structure performer!

@@IanTranSend Aw hey sure thing! A parking structure sounds like a cool place to make music. To be totally clear btw, I just pulled that name out of thin air. I don't know if the genre/technique has a proper name 😊
My face hurts from smiling from 00:00 to 17:39. Thank you, truly
The sound of the sand blowing about really adds to the atmosphere.
Thank Jaden so much for sharing this gorgeous technique and Rob for giving him the platform to do so. This was so wonderful!
This is a very unconventional way of playing guitar and i love it...
This really inspired me to relearn guitar and experiment with the wind! So beautiful!
my heart dropped when you both started playing at around 3:30, I can't believe how well it works. What a happy coincidence, a cosmic coincidence like something we forgot.
The sound of the sand once you moved the beach really added to the atmosphere along with the music. It was like natural radio static in the background of the droning harmonics. SO nice!
this is one of the most beautiful videos I've seen in a while, from the music to the the environment, and Jaden's vibe is unmatched
This is incredible. The ringing notes and the sand blasting sound. Ambience
I discovered this with my fiddle about 20 years ago while I was high on mushrooms with a group of good pals in the Alvord desert in Oregon. I’ll never forget the magic of that moment. Good on you for taking it next level!
Wow, here I was years ago thinking I was crazy for blowing air on my guitar strings while holding chord shapes and thinking it sounded beautiful. Great video.

Steve Vai does it frequently.

@@SylasG No, Steve does a joke where he turns his guitar's sustainer into harmonic mode at the same time he blows on it. He's talked about it, and you can see him flip the switch in any video of him doing the trick.

@@xtraspicychkn That's cool.
I’m so inspired by this. Love seeing traditional instruments played non-traditionally. Beautiful, ethereal. Have never seen anything like this on guitar. Wow
Bro I got emotional watching them play damn this was really good ❤
I've always appreciated the crazy, beautiful world of Rob, ever since I went looking on KZread (purely for shits and giggles) and found his banjo covers of Slayer songs. The more I searched, the more of this kind of stuff I felt privileged to find.
The sound of the wind blowing the sand on to the mic and guitars added an extra cool element 8:00
This shows how beautiful man in complete harmony with nature can be. So majestic and ethereal. Beautifully soothing. I love this.
This video and the music in it are beautiful There's something so peaceful about making music with nature
You two, and the wind make an absolutely beautiful experience. Thank you
two artists doing art together, this is incredible

Im usually not very fond of ambient music etc, but this hit me deep. Gave me same vibes as the minecraft soundtrack
This is really beautiful, Rob. Thank you for making this. I'm on the verge of tears just listening to the melody. Again, thank you.
Seems to me that what this guy does is very special. He has an understanding of the inner-workings of sound and nature that is admirable to say the least. I am so glad Rob goes to people like this, to share such moments. The Energy/Spirit/Soul in this video is beautiful. Thank you.
There's a place in West Virginia called dolly sods. It's a rocky outcrop on top of a mountain that looks down on a beautiful Valley, and constant predictable steady winds sweep over the top of the mountain. Not only for the constant and predictable wind, but also for the beautiful setting, I think this type of music would be Stellar if performed in that location.

I think you're onto something, my friend - an album (do we still make these daze?) with the tracks titled after the various locations they were field recorded, which would of course include the ambient sounds like sand, or bird song at Dolly Sods, or waves from an onshore breeze in Hawaii...
That performance of Mutter is just astoundingly beautiful. The song keeps getting better each time I hear it
Another thing I love doing is fingering a C major cord on guitar and then play a C major arpeggio on my trumpet and listening to the guitar resonate with the sound from my trumpet. Beautiful sounds.
I love and appreciate that you guys are exploring and pushing the boundaries of the guitar. Bravissimo!!!
I love the reverse swell effect. This is beautiful
A full song of this would be so peaceful. No lie i cried just feeling the emotions flowing through the guitar

THIS IS SO CRAZY! I busk at this windy tunnel in dana point and i’ve noticed this phenomenon and thought it was so cool. Im so happy to see someone actually take this idea and run with it
This was absolutely lovely to listen to your musical collaboration with the wind. Sending love and warm greetings from Missouri.
Everything about this video was simply just wonderful . Your interactions together , the peaceful beach , him saying you inspired him to play , the serene sound of the wind with the guitar . So much soul
Wow! 100% natural shimmer/feedback effect! Really compliments the harmonics!
You guys are such a lovely vibe! Been so far down before this video but watching you guys playing with the wind as a jam buddy kinda rekindled my joy, tho just for some minutes it was really nice, thank you :)
So pretty. I love this ❤. Some of the chords made me teary. Literally jamming with the wind element. I feel it so subtly like your guitar is whispering with the wind and telling each other secrets
the vibe in this video, the joy in your faces, the sight of happiness in the face of a dude that played with a artist he really likes. I hope that one day, I can play with my idols and get this feeling
Jaden's melody making is really nice.
This video is just beautiful! I feel the love and serenity of the Windy City, which is something you don’t hear everyday! Haha Jaden’s love of the guitar and his experimentation with the wind is so beautiful and pure I just feel connected with the sound! Such an inspiration and I hope to find a passion like this!
What a beautiful soothing noise. Jaden's a great guitarist. You guys did some really beautiful stuff here, love it. Also the sand makes my brain tingle I really like it.
