"Playing God" is a single from the instrumental progressive rock band, Polyphia, from their 4th Album, "Remember that You will Die" released in 2022. It is the band's first new release since 2019 and it finds the band filling the song with Spanish flavor, utilizing complex arrangements with nuevo flamenco guitars, a bit a bossa nova flair and some trap-styled rhythms to deliver something intriguing. This also marks the band's first time utilizing nylon stringed guitars as well.
Songs from Polyphia are really challenging specially for guitarists like me, and this particular song really caught my attention. It's been a while since I studied and learned new songs, so I'm back on the transcription again to learn this one. It will really take a lot of practice to master this one, so for this video, I'll be doing a cover of the intro/main riff part of the song only. Maybe within the year, I'll try to cover the whole song, if time permits.
