Bala's are exclusive to arrancars, they are compressed mini ceros that do less damage but are super fast. The thing rukia does is a Hado, idk the name but it's the same thing she had before the rework, it isn't fast like a bala but it does more damage since it causes an explosion.

I think that's the case too. I tried to look a little to the left or right so Sinon's grenade was more likely to hit, but I noticed it didn't matter where I looked now. Speaking of m1s, it seems raw downslams may also be gone.
