GTA VC Rage seems like the definitive edition, especially with its Euphoria physics engine. The driving definitely feels 1980s and fits the setting.

I remember how friggin rad it was when Vice City was new. My best friend at the time had a PS2 and GTA 3, which was my first love. Then, Vice City hit, and holy f***in s**t!!! I literally could not stop playing it. I'd stay up all night playing it whenever I stayed over. Now of course I own em all as available across all consoles etc 🤣. Life is good.

I played it on PC when it was out. I remember reading review and huge section with secrets and easter eggs counting down months and then days to PC release. So many hours spent looking for hidden packages, recording bike stuns and having fun in general. Shit, it was 20 years ago and I still have save and replay files. Amazing times and best atmosphere in series.

Still the best version of the game.

GTA IV Vice City feels like the best, modern gameplay while keeping the classic style. There's a more advanced mod called Vice City 2 by Revolution Team, sadly it's been taken down.

I agree. The style in the RAGE IV version feels like what a definitive edition should have been... RAGE V feels like a different game and the only thing its better at is Tommy's character design.

gotta be the original ps2 for me. as a kid during that time, gta was revolutionary and hearing my parent's music played on the in-game radio really encapsulated the best parts of my childhood for me

Plus no one cared about the frames back then bc it was so fun. Go play your fav version aka the definitive edition on your pc at 4K 60fps. If u started like that then you wouldnt complain. Its literally a far newer, more advanced engine. They weren't gonna re-make the entire game in a different engine for an edition that wouldn't sell as much as a new GTA game.

I picked up GTA 3 for PS2 on a whim. I had played the original GTA on PC at my buddy’s house in high school and was unimpressed. I wanted a new game and had some extra cash and picked up “3” in its first week, when the hype was beginning to swell. Mind blowing! Suffice to say, I was there day one for Vice City. Hearing Billie Jean driving down Ocean Drive for the first time…

Exactly what u thought, the gta 4 mod seemed legit, they had almost all cars like from vice city, pedestrians and it was alive, in the gtav mod nothing

I remember in the early 2000s playing VC first on PC at a very low framerate and resolution on a CRT monitor. It was the best, even had a Goku mod. Then I headed over to a buddy who had it on the PS2. I was so jealous of how smooth and good it looked on an actual TV.

At least in GTA IV: Vice city beta RAGE mod and in GTA V version Tommy can swim in water without problems which is a very good thing.

The original PS2 version of Vice City always felt like more than the sum of its parts: though various graphical and gameplay elements were undeniably below par, the overall atmosphere of the game - coupled with its fun factor, soundtrack and humour - made it an all-time great. The replay value is immense and its colour pallet is iconic. I will always choose the PS2 original over any of the remasters, however impressive those might be from a technical perspective.

I still remember being in 3rd grade and playing gta 3 and vice city with my friends on week ends. Figuring out how to install mods to PC version and then reinstalling windows to get rid of all malware that game with dubious mods. Good times. Things were simpler back then. Original trilogy are only games I've bought twice, once for ps2 and once for PC. I guess GTA 4 counts too since I bought it physical to PC and later got Steam edition with bundled DLC.

In few districts of Bangladesh, some editors has moded GTA Vice City in about 10-12 different types with the naturality of different districts of Bangladesh. I am proud of my country.

All the versions save for the defective edition are quite good especially the mod that uses an enhanced version of RAGE from GTA V.

Having never played this game, I can say the original PS2 version is easily the best looking.

PS2 Vice city came out when I was a freshman in college and to me that’s the best grand theft auto ever… The music, the cars, the clothing and the characters. You basically get to drive around in Miami and play through Scarface

The depth of Vice City on GTA V looks incredible. Imagine if they had used GTA V textures, models, and more along with adding NPCs and cars. It would simply look better than the definitive edition.

Vice City at PS2, I've played at my brothers ps2. :D Whenever he visited my parents he let me play, it was the best time.

I didn't know these mods. VICE V thrills me 'cause this is an almost feeling of GTA VI, a New Generation's Vice City, maybe the city I most I like.

PS2 original version is best for me. The "orange" atmosphere, the weather effects & mostly smooth gameplay were & still are iconic.

I am definitely gonna need to get me VC IV downloaded. We all know IV > V so that's the obvious choice. I always has VC on PS2 but never got around to properly playing it, which has always been a shame. So I am now, finally, playing through the PC version, ported to the PS Vita. And it is a _fantastic_ experience there.

I played the pc version first on my uncle's pc. I didn't know what to do with it at that time and I just keep messing around in free roam and using cheats. It was only when I got older and had a pc for myself that I replayed the game and did all the missions.

GTA VC Rage was the first one I played, brings back so many memories seeing it in this video.

As I remember there was a version of GTA VC in PC named Deluxe Edition in which all the cars were changed and graphics were also different.

So when i was a kid and kept having thoughts on how i was driving on water was actually true… As i got older i always thought i was imagining that happening but it really was in the game all this time

First time on the PC on CRT. Still have a hard drive with XP for games like vice city. On a 22 Dell display, with colors properly set, 1680x1050, 8XAA, 16xAF, this game still looks absolutely stunning thanks to the light effects and colors. Atmosphere second to none.

I got the definite edition a couple of weeks ago for pc and first I had hard time with grafik but in the end i really enjoyed playing and it was throwback in my teen years.

Played GTA London 1969 back in 1998 (PS1). Played GTA 2 when it came out(PS1). Played GTA 3 when it came to PS2. Played VC when it came out on PC. Played The OG Xbox Box with 3 and VC when it came out (Best Graphicsversion at the time. Even better than PC at the time). Played SA when it came out on PC and Xbox. Played 3 and VC when they came out for Android (not the biggest fan, but it worked and was kinda mindblowing at the time.). Played 4 the least i have to say. Haven't had a PC/Console at the Time of release that was capable of playing it. Played Ballad of Gay Tony when it came to Xbox 360) Gut Hyped to the moon, when the whole GTA will release Hypetrain was rolling and played it on release too (1 Day earlier, because all over the world, a few stores just said "you know what. We cant hold it. sell the game. the people are eating us." :D). Played the GTA5 Remaster then again on Xbox1 and PC. Hated GTA Online lol, but loved SA Multiplayer mods on PC back in the day. My most played GTA must be GTA: SA. I lived there, kind of. Best Map in the Franchise to me. Loved the overall Look. Slightly before VC. Also a great game. But i prefer SA overall. Not the biggest fan of the Gangstuff, but since that is not the most Part of SA, i'm fine. Thanks for showing. Modders are so great.

I think in terms of the best original visual, all the releases on PS2 is the best. like the effects from San Andreas is absent on PC. however with that said I know that you can easily bring those looks back on PC and make them look better via mods.

I played vice city(all gta games except for gta 5) when I was younger but never got passed the 5th mission because I didn’t care enough. But with the releases of GTA 6 I got really hype and I’m playing the 3D universe and beating them for the first time in 2024 and I’m having a blast. I’m on LCS at the time of this post

I played every version of 3D GTA first on PC then on PS2. I replayed each game at least 5 times on PC before I even tried it on PS2. All PC versions are missing the feeling of the their PS2 version, like it's week from being complete. The visual setting is different , some voice lines are cut, keyboard controls are janky (not to mention the Defective Edition, which is downright unplayable, due to the screwed up controls mapping)

My uncle had GTA Vice City installed on his PC I was nine or ten and I remember that it took me nearly a decade to beat the mission with the rc plane

First time played the game on pc in 2008 (i was 6 back then).. Completed it with 12. Completed the mobile version in 2015 too, also played twice the definitive version

The definitive doesn't look thaaaaaat bad now, guessing this has had a patch or two by now? The Rage one looked best though, just need a better Tommy model as that shoulder camera when aiming makes it look rough.

Also try Vice City 2. It is also a GTA IV mod which has an extended story mode. And it has some new places, cars and dresses like stuff. That mod is a true definitive edition.

Since you asked, I played VC on PS2 first. Was my first GTA Game, then I played SA on Xbox and beat it many times. I didn't play GTA4 until GTA5 had already been released.

Vice city was so unique. Something about being in the mall In that game it was so cool. Im 29 now but I remember that ha me like it was yesterday. I remember everyone telling my mom in the store how violent gta was and she was like I’m not worried about my son he’ll still grow up a gentleman so she bought me the ps2 with gta Vice city back in 02
