When I was 10 they built a bowling alley next door to our neighborhood. My friends and I would scrounge quarters, sometimes dipping in to my parents change stashes. We would ride our bikes to the bowling alley, ditching our bikes in a nearby storm drain, and spend hours deciding which games to use our ill-gotten quarters on. I preferred the beat 'em up like double dragon, turtles, or bad dudes. Pinbot was on of the few pinball machines that kept my attention. I loved how you never knew what might happen next, and having two balls at once was so cool. If a pinball game had multiple levels and wire chutes it got my money. Good times.

I spent many many hours playing this in my grandparents basement. I had an uncle that sold pinball jukebox and other such arcade equipment so there was always at least one pinball machine and a jukebox in their basement "for the kids" even though the adults spent about as much time down there as we did. I remember the summer I spent there when this happened to be the machine he had there. This has and will always be one of my favorite machines ever! These videos have brought back so many memories! @@LyonsArcade It was epic. My grandparents lived in a very small town in north eastern Iowa so there wasn't exactly a lot to do especially if we visited in the winter months. We would spend hours between us (there were a lot of us grandchildren) trying to beat each other's high scores. I think half of the reason I watch these videos is for the memories it brings back of going into the shop he worked out of and working with the two guys that did the repair work. I learned more from them than I ever did out of any books or classes. Keep up the amazing videos!

Much like with video games, it feels like Pin Bot's impact comes with weird artistic expression and fun Pinball machines could have. Electromechanical sculptures that are enjoyable in play, sight and sound. Man; I wrote that before finishing but it sounds really good, like a great unreleased mega drive game. Probably some of the same Yamaha family inside that bot.

Awesome finished product Ron. I still play Pin-Bot in the wild. I play it at Starfighters Arcade in Mesa Arizona. I have the Arcade's high score for Pin-Bot of 6,292,910. I first played High Speed, & Pin-Bot at Flakey Jakes Restaurant in Costa Mesa California in the mid 80's. Dad would sit me on a bar stool in the game room, & give me a handful of quarters to go to town. I would score free games on both machines, & go home with a pocket of quarters. Dad never knew! That is one of my personal favorite memories of all time. That was my first exposure to these machines, & explains why I bought my High Speed in 1990 when I was 13.👍 Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥

I used to play Pin Bot at the local gambling spot, here in northern Netherlands, which was just a building full of gambling machines. There was a section of arcade games and pinball machines. When this one arrived as the newest/latest pinball machine, everyone, i mean everyone loved it! At the age of 15 apparently i was allowed in there and had a lot of fun with PB! And about the age-thing, even earlier, a friend of mine his parents owned a local bar, and they had a KISS pinball machine, which was cool too, and yes, we were allowed in there too haha. We were about 10, so that would make that machine roughly from 1983. Cool stuff...

This is one of my all-time favorites, and it's actually my spouse's single favorite pinball too--she's not a huge pinball fan, but when we went to a couple of arcades that had it, the goal of opening Pinbot's visor and getting to multiball really hooked her. We've played it most often at the now-defunct Pinball Wizard Arcade in Pelham, NH, and at Funspot in Weirs Beach, NH. What often happens to me is that I get multiball, get the one eyeball locked, then have an attack of nerves that makes my game go to pieces and I can't make that not-very-hard left ramp shot to collect the Solar Value. The goal of advancing the planets is really challenging. I keep forgetting that you can do it by completing the targets on the left--and the green one on the right is pretty hard to hit, it's a tricky tip shot.

@@LyonsArcade While I certainly saw it around in its heyday, I think I first became really familiar with it in a simulation--not the NES Pinbot many likely remember, but its appearance in "Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection" for the Wii. In hindsight, it wasn't the most super-faithful rendition, but it was pretty good for the available technology. "The Pinball Arcade" also had it until they lost the Williams license.

Just keep your eyes open. I have owned my High Speed machine for 30 years now. In April of 2019, I found a Pin-Bot machine locally in Phoenix Arizona. I got it for $700, but cosmetically was not in the great shape as Ron's. I was not looking for it, but it found me. It was about to be scrapped if I didn't buy it. The playfield was partially stripped, but all of the pieces were included. The playfield was NASTY dirty, & was played partially without rubbers. I installed LED bulbs, but replaced them back to normal bulbs. It cleaned up great, & plays great, it is a solid 6 out of 10. There are deals out there, you just have to look for them. Yes, the cheaper you get the machine, the more work has to be done to it. The finished machine will mean more to you than a plug & play machine you can find. Now, go out there & find it!👍 Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥

This seems to get them middle of the spiral quite good :D i think i found my era of pinball games.... when i think of a pinball machine this is the sort i think about.... mind you i like the older ones too..... but if could draw and someone asked me to draw the inside of a pinball machine... this would be my drawing :) Also because i like the segmented displays over dot matrix and the TFT screen types :-) i mean... what do you look at on the back box.... Considering PinBot came out not too long after the original StarWars Trilogy I'm not surprised a lot of pinball machines went for the sci fi space battle aesthetic... but one can't help but wonder: What IS a PinBot? What does it do? What is the function of a PinBot? Why does it have no eyes? Did they pop off ogling his bride? Why does he have a bride? Does this imply Android Rights are a thing in this hypothetical universe and they are free to get married? Or did the poor humans build him a bride as a placative measure to stop him from electrifying the planets? Maybe I'm reading too much into this and need to take some cold meds and go to bed. Oh yeah! Vintage. 👍 Great SFX. Can you say why people regard it as one of the best machines of all time? I'm thinking because of its unique features and very classic pinball essence. 😁 There was a Pinbot machine in my shitty little college town at the pool hall. Of course, I dropped by just to play it. Also, can I (or should I) get more powerful solenoids for my flippers? I was thinking it might be too hard on the playfield elements. And one last thing, I watched a video on The Slow-mo Guys of pinball in slow motion... That was quite fascinating. You should check it out. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJ6EsaOlqKyqpdo.html
