We went over 2 years with almost no content on hopium for OWII only for there to be no PVE, terrible balancing and we actually aren't even getting that much content right now. We get a new map what every couple months maybe? There's no getting around it OWII exists to sell the shop.

Because of modifiers. For example, your team is struggling but somehow you win - you get a expected modifier. You lost few games in a row playing solo vs stacks - you get loss streak and so on. This system is barely working

The only thing the new ranked system achieved is getting proper feedback after a game. Everything else is a massive downgrade, which says a lot because the previous system was a disgrace. Everything takes longer and generally feels like shit now.

Damn near the same with me been playing since season 2 of OverWatch 1 and I feel like a drug addict when I say I've been 6 months clean of OverWatch and it's done nothing but wonders for my gaming health

During overwatch 1 me and my friends would play every single day missing pretty much 0 days. Literally at school we would just be thinking "Man can I just get this shit over with and go home play overwatch with my boys". Obviously we would have shit games. Loss streaks. Tilt queue sessions and lots of "fuck this game I ain't playing this shit ever again" but next day we all hop back on. As soon as ow2 comes around we just slowly start playing less and less. There was no "I quit" moment we legit just began to not even consider playing the game subconsciously

They know that if they release 6v6 while 5v5 is still out it's going to split the player base. They would then have to manage 2 games when they are already poorly managing the one. It would greatly increase the cost of running the games and it wouldn't bring in many new players aka it won't make them money. From a business standpoint having 6v6 and 5v5 out at the same times is a bad idea. They will have to choose 6v6 or 5v5 and it is unfortunately looking like 5v5 is here to stay. 5v5 is making gobs of money for blizzard and they probably don't want to risk going back to 6v6.

Yea I don’t play much tank, but when I play with friends I can’t be support so I just do all which gives me dps/tank. It’s got to be the most frustrating online experience. If you go Winston, they instant counter pick on tank and usually a dps goes reaper. If you go queen they’re support instantly goes Ana. It’s crazy that you get not just tank counter swaps but almost always dps and/or support swaps too.

I play whatever tank I feel like playing at the time. When I start getting hard countered, my teammates ask me to swap. I respond with "Why? To get counter-swapped again?"

I used to play this game with my little sister. It helped us bond during the pandemic as we both played duo tank and lost every game but had SO MUCH FUN doing so… now we can never do that because tanking now is just too stressful for a game that I just want to chill and have fun.

It’s funny how Blizzard doesn’t want to admit they messed up with 5v5 but were fine with taking the L on PVE

6v6 will benefit every role by mostly allowing you to play whatever hero you want unlike 5v5.

6v6 absolutely did not allow you to play whatever hero you wanted; it was extremely troll in that game; you had an extra person to counter you. Some heroes were actually impossible to play into certain comps. In 5v5 you have significantly more freedom.

The fact Overwatch STILL can provide enjoyable moments, after multiple years of patches actively reducing the gameplay experience is mind blowing. Shows how incredible the original game idea actually was. Such a shame the devs are so disconnected from the actual community they won’t even acknowledge the complaints.

The 5v5 loop we're in 1-They Buff tanks for 5v5 2-Everyone focuses the strongest and most vulnerable member on the team the TANK 3-tank feels terrible 1-they buff tank again...

You forget every 3 buffs to tank 1a) tank is OP either supp/dps feels like shit 2a) supp or dps gets buffed (whichever role didnt have thr most recent passive change) 3a) supp/dps can now focus the tank 4a) proceed to step 1

Playing OW2 makes me realise that this game has lost most of it's competitive integrity, it's either you demolish the team or get absolutely smashed. That of course is not to mention it feels like tanks can just 1v5 your team or 5v1 to actually kill a tank. So sick of it all..

I saw this video a few days ago. It's exactly why I quit the game 3 months ago. Used to be a tank player, but now I just chill out on Helldivers 2. Less stressful and more fun. IF...IF Team 4 decides to swallow their pride and change the format back to 6v6 or come out with OW Classic, I may reinstall to try it out. As of now, I can't play the hot mess of 5v5 format.

I just downloaded the HD2 501st skin mod. Running around as a clone is awesome.

i remember during the beta or whatever it was or maybe it was the tournament and they had test servers up for people who showed up i heard a a lot of streamers defend the switch to 5v5 and now i don't even think those streamers play OW anymore or not nearly as much anymore

I remember watching this on my own, it’s sad to see the way the game has gone and the balancing has failed

I’ve been close to quitting before, but the release of this new patch was the final straw for me. I think I’ve been chasing the memory of the original game for the last 3/4 seasons (at least, probably the majority of Ow2’s lifespan), instead of genuinely enjoying the game. With the current state of the game, and the direction it seems to be headed, I genuinely can’t find a reason to play the game anymore. R.I.P. As a GM ow2 tank main who has not once touched 6v6, tanking is a miserable experience more and more each season they try to "buff" the tank role. It doesn't feel rewarding when winning and obviously feels even worse to lose. More and more does it feel like I get punished for punishing another players mistakes

I love playing tank, but stuff like the DPS passive made me it feel so unfun since I either never die or explode in 2 seconds it's so miserable

Season 9 is like that Homer meme when he is skinny in the front and flabby in the back held together with pins, boogers and a dying dream. Front Side -New Competitive System Back Side -Health pools increased -Everyone can now auto heal -Larger projectile sizes -Even more role passives

I can't for the life of me understand why they can't offer 5v5 and 6v6 game modes...

never forget blizzard reported less players in one of 2023 quarters than in the last quarter of ow1.

"BUT QUEUE TIMES!!!" they keep forgetting that the issue with queue times would be resolved with more variety of options to play in a particular role(dps still has the most variety) each time a new tank was introduced there was a noticeable difference in queue times.

@bui3415 I literally said why and there is data to back that up. Options to play are very minimal in the tank role. The reason you want variety is to have multiple characters be able to synergize that way a person is not forced to pick a character they do not like to play. Which is the problem with the tank role since OW1. The only reason support is played is due to it being broken in OW2 due to the 1 tank format. Otherwise support queue times were as long as tank at times.

I remember the days when I could 1v1 literally any tank as tracer, and it was actually a fair fight, I could outplay hog if they were trying to flank, and kill him as tracer, can you imagine trying to do that with hog now, it’s out of the question, it’s so miserable to play kovakks on a giant bullet sponge every game, it’s like when do I get rewarded for my good tracking and skill.

Many such cases. I'm a silver player and my friends are all silver/gold and we've all either left the game completely or heavily reduced our playtime. In a way I would like to thank Aaron Keller, since I just graduated and spent all day playing Overwatch instead of being an adult. Now I'm doing stuff to actually improve myself. This sounds like a joke, but I'm so deadass, it's not even funny.

Yeah the immortality,over tuned supports & double shield wasn't addressed but OW1 dev team stayed true to a core gameplay balance fundamental that was = skills worked the same against every hero

Yesterday, I had enough of this new patch and uninstalled the game. I've played Overwatch since beta as a 12-year-old on PlayStation. I built a PC to play this game. As a ranked player, there's just not enough I can do as a DPS unless I play a hero I don't enjoy. I enjoy playing projectiles but hitscan do that but better. I am a Masters 4 Genji, yet it feels like I can't play the game anymore. I have to wait out 5-6 abilities to even ult as Genji. I also like playing tank, my favorite tanks are Zarya/Sig which are easily countered by abilities Bap/Kiri/LW can easily counter. I played a game that went on for 25 minutes and the most elims out of that game was 14. At least in the old 2CP maps, your elims would at least be 30+ for the same timeframe. Nothing dies, the most fun I have is when only OW1 characters are played. Rein V Rein with OW1 supports feels sooo much better than OW2 heroes.

At this point we need to start rolling the consumer outrage to the point where population is so low that they are forced to bring back 6v6

Tank Duo synergy is peak OW. I always ask the question... when/where was the outcry for the format change? I don't remember any from the community. Just 1 day Blizzard was giving an update on the development of OW2 and background gameplay was 5v5 and the dev team were like "btw as you see, OW2 will be 5v5." Hilarious, cause OW2 was just supposed to be PVE ONLY and the PVP gameplay wasn't supposed to change at all.

the thing i hate as solo tank is if im playing my doom and i'm a dive hero. how do i go in get a good pick and jump back without getting hit with any cc in the game as a giant man flies around. the one thing i cant stand is when i face a sombra and they run around holding right click and waiting for me to pop up. or a ana holding dart till i hard engage for a dive with my team. or a cass waiting for me to leap in only to get hindered and insta killed. its really hard to bait abilties when they get like 500x more value by spamming it on the tank and holding it till they do someting. its hard to play dive without a full dive comp in ow2 compared to ow1. my personal opinon tho

I miss 6v6 as well. I feel like I gave 5v5 a fair shot and it fell embarrassingly short, even with my low expectations. I really miss the tank synergy that OW1 had.

I have quit as of today, I will return only for 6v6, I just cannot fathom how much happier I’ve been by not playing the game. I took a break for a week and it was the happiest I had been with gaming, it sucks but 6v6 is, and was so much better that it’s not even funny how delusional blizzard is rn

There was a game on Hollywood 3rd point where I felt the need to solo ult a hog that had 30% health, and I knew he would just heal and get out. Then I get flamed by 3 on the enemy team for solo death blossoming a low hog and still lose with a throwing mercy. Hog should not out heal reaper damage point blank as he does now.

For content creators it makes sense why they won’t/can’t fully leave (and Overwatch “killers” will never pull it off because the audience won’t all jump over). For regular players, if you really hate the direction the game has gone in there is no need to keep coming back.

So many times where the sec I get near the obj I just get targeted by everyone and get forced out from doing anything. Where I hit and hit and hit enemies and just feel like I'm only feeding support ults. It's so weird to be in a place where everyone unilaterally says tanks explode but also nobody dies. I'm one of those leaving players, Rein main (although i haven't been able to play rein in diamond for multiple seasons now.) I play with my friends for fun and now that quickplay is also just as bad as ranked I'm just finished. 6v6 is the only way I'd come back cos I miss making plays with my tank buddy

So what’s your point? 5v5 sucks compared to 6v6. Being “negative” is what got blizzard to revert the horrible ranked system they implemented. Stop trying to look at the game through rose tinted glasses. The game is overall worse now and being “positive” will not fix that.

also right now it really feels like if your tank is having an off game, its almost a guaranteed loss versus when there was two tanks you could balance out a bad tank with a decent or good tank - its just way more pressure on tank these days since its just one and its not enoyable

I love how much needs to be changed via balance patches in OW2 just to come up with the same problems. Each patch we are one patch closer to them accepting the fact that 5v5 is always gonna feel shit.

The only argument I give for 6v6 is that I don't have fun playing 5v5. Ad a tank I either roll or get rolled. If there's a match going back and forth it's the worst, just who can counterswap faster.

OW question, I also feel like 6v6 would help and reduce the need for the DPS passive. My question is, would the DPS passive be better or worse if rather than doing a healing reduction on targets, it did a small life steal? Reaper and Mirror watch tracer showed life steal can be good but not broken

To go on, tanks should still receive a general cc reduction and if anything the healing reduction should apply to supports only when targeted since they can easily self heal

Oh man, i really missed this game, its been more than 2 years i left this game.

I left this season too, i didnt even finish the bp i bought with leftover coins. This game became too frustrating to play, i cant play ONE game without feeling annoyed. feel much better when im not playing it

I never cared for the 5 v 5 , 6 v 6 conversation but this video changed my perspective. I’m primarily DPS high plat. And I tried Tank and felt like , oh ok… so it’s just my job to take damage for my team and be a sponge. But if I try to take offensive, it’ll leave my team vulnerable. But if I’m too defensive then I take too much resources from support. Welp…. I’ll just play Moira.

I know this just dropped and I haven't watched it yet, but I have been a player since the 2015 beta, peaked top 1 on support with Lúcio, so I got some experience. I just can't play the game anymore, it's been my main game for almost a decade but I can't go on when it's clearly deteriorating. It's always ''WE'RE SO BACK'' and ''IT'S SO OVER'' every season and mid season patch, and I'm tired. I want consistency, but I don't know why ow2 it's so weirdly good and bad at the same time. I prefer peak 6v6 over peak 5v5, but man 5v5 isn't easier to balance than 6v6 anymore. We've had 2 years to get a grip and understand everything from the ow2 experience, and it is tragic that activision and microsoft keeps doing layoffs so the new devs can't settle in before everyone gets kicked out again. I hate the executives man, ruined all hope we had for the game, current devs are trying so hard to fix it alone, but the executives just can't stop screwing everything up for profit. Hopefully they can magically fix everything over time... I love overwatch

I mean, it’s really not that hard to listen to a community and use that feedback to improve the game. Stop making excuses for these shit devs lol Its really not that hard to go back to 6v6 and get rid of shit like immos, cc, etc. They have no excuses anymore. The main problem with these devs is that it’s clear they do not play their own game or understand it. I understand employee turnover is a thing but at this point, they’ve had 10 seasons to do SOMETHING right and they are unable to. They are incompetent.

Can't blame the executives for everything about OW2. They are the reason for the monetisation, they couldn't care about the balance and formatting and whatnot. The devs have failed, they never understand what makes the game good or bad. The patches have become small and stupid. They bunker down in this 5v5 grave, change stuff that was never an issue in the previous game and add new things that were not needed in the previous game. The OW1 devs didn't understand how to balance either, and they are the reason we are here. Not understanding how to change Brig, Bap, Orisa, Sigma when they have some relatively simple changes you could do to fix them. (Bap immo lasts 1 second, so you have to time it. Orisa, headshot during fortify. Sigma, remove his grasp shield. And Brig I would have to think into). They also never understand why certain metas happened. (Double Shield because of Sustain abilities and high burst healing. And GOATS because of Brig's inspire. But no, they just see "it is called double shield so the shield MUST BE the problem" or "It has 3 tanks 3 supports so we have to FORCE 2-2-2" (which imo the role lock was a good change on a whole, but they could have also addressed the Brig situation too"

5v5 format isnt an executive issue. And people need to stop using executives as a crutch for shit decision making by the devs. Bobby Kotick is gone. The format and balancing issues was never a corporate thing to begin with. That was F2P model and monetization. Balance and format is solely on the devs

Worst thing about overwatch 2 is the player base, you get flamed in metal ranks and quick play for "not playing optimally" on a consistent basis.. the community is toxic af with absolutely no creativity or fluidity of playstyle.. it's play my way or balance my way or this game or team sucks..

It's not that double shield would never be played. I think there's a good chance it would be. Especially with a tank like Sigma there. The difference is without heroes like Brig and Bap it would be punishable with dive.

It's crazy how when my buddy and I log in we go to open queue and we default to 2 Tank 1 DPS 2 Supports and the game felt a lot more fun with out combos and playstyle.

I used to play insane hours into the night on loss streaks still having fun when support was "broken" but it was fun. Now it's so miserable to play support so I don't even play as much any more cause support was so unique to a shooter game... it hooked me. Now i just que in the DPS role since that is the new "quarterback" role. It gets boring quick. I'm high diamond low masters.

unrelated question probably but… why tf do we have 3 rank icons?? We have a different one when u rank up , a different one when u go check where the legend is and a different one in the career profile which I think is the worst one out of all of them.. it just makes it so confusing

I personally miss 6v6 because then I felt like I had a chance to play what I wanted. Now all that happens is I get counter picked and my team trash talks me because Im not play optimally I understand why listening to pro players is good when you balance a game, but I also understand that it also can kill the game. Listening to a small minority and changing the game to suit them? It isn't as good as people think

I really do miss having that second tank. I liked occasionally choosing a different tank to be more cohesive with either the other tank or the team as a whole. Otherwise, I was able to do fine and have fun just playing Dva every game. If they brought back 6v6, I am pretty certain I would play a whole lot more than I currently do, which is not much at the moment.

I love it when people say DPS has more agency in 5v5 when there were 6 killable targets in 6v6 and only 4 now in 5v5 💔

I remember the first time reworked mercy from ow1 came out on the ptb (?), and I seriously asked myself if the person in charge of the rework was on crack that day. That shit was bananas. I mean it was the test build, but God was it crazy. I think from memory she could res instantly like two players, pop valk and res another. She was super fast in valk and she shot insanely quickly. It was the nuttiest rework.

In 5v5 Tank has to be able to sustain damage from 5 players (one of whom is the same op tank) and be killable by 4 non-tank players at the same time. How is it easier to balance?

Hot take maybe another reason they took out 6v6 besides the obivous once you guys mentioned is that there are griefers and throwers in the game as well? I just thought having one tank gives accountability to the tank and if that said tank throws then we report?

i stopped playing yesterday and not planning to return soon after getting a 10 minute ban for leaving 2 quickplay games within 1 month.

Why is 6v6 not in the arcade??

Each game I get Rolled or do the Rolling and it isn't fun, because idk if I should or shouldn't put effort into each match

Correction you do the rolling till everyone counters you and your the only tank so you have to switch off your favourite so you play shittier and probably still lose

6v6 was fun, challenging and a team play game that allowed people to play any way they really wanted and still find a way to make it work. 5v5 is just... tiring and its sad that people dont feel like they're having fun anymore (myself included) since its literally counterwatch. Hope they change it back and take away the passives completely, and you know what bring 2cp back too fuck it

I got a friend into ow during season 6 of ow2 and they quit after the mid season patch after being borderline addicted for like 4 seasons I don’t even play anymore unless it’s for 6v6 games it’s just really sad the state the game is in and even though they say that they hear us and are listening to us a lot of times it really doesn’t feel like that with the refusal to acknowledge the worse format and the addition of more cc and more immortalities in the game Hope things can turn around but tbh I doubt it atp and it’s very sad to see a great game suffering due to the refusal to realize that the format is the core issue of the game

and another issue is that within 5v5, those problematic support abilities like suzu and lamp are a necessary evil cause if those get dumpstered in 5v5 then they might as well remove tanks from the game

blizzard is just gonna see this video and be like ok give everyone +10 seconds on their cooldowns

When have they ever added 10 seconds to a hero's cooldown? The latest patch literally reduced JQ's shout cooldown by 14% for example. Reduced, as in, not increased.
