@@KnightingaleRock it sounds & feels amazing, especially for the price, I plugged it in at guitar center along with several other fenders & the only thing I’d say it’s lacking to compete with even 800 dollar strats is the whammy bar. The humbucker in the bridge is fucking nice, it’s gotta be the best selling point on it. It’s also light, probably because of the neck length, if you’ve got giant hands I probably wouldn’t recommend it, it’s good for speed if you’ve got normal-large ones though.

@@KnightingaleRock with a good range of pedals & a better amp there’s no telling how good it’d be, it can play pretty well anything & sound good because of the humbucker. That being said, it’s a fuckin blues machine, that you could probably change to metal within half a second. The color’s daphne blue. I’m not sure how it’d compare to a bullet strat, & if you have a strat or want that I’d suggest just saving for that, because well, it’s a strat 😂

This guy’s demo blew me away!! I would pay good money to hear him in person, definitely needs to be featured more 👏🏻

I bought the 2017 HS in Daphne Blue with a pau ferro fret board. Bought a new pickgaurd and changed to SS. The neck is really good. Nice full C.

I've had a Squier Classic Vibe reissue for many years. Duo-Sonics are cool little guitars.

Definitely a underrated guitar...one of my favorite non trem guitars. I like the Gold one but I would put some humbuckers that are single coiled that are extra hot. The HS is my favorite. They need to make the HS in that gold color and also like vintage White with maple fretboard. Maybe make some with whammy trem or maybe...make one with two humbuckers a Floyd Rose and launch that one in the parallel universe series. I'm getting a little excited I'm sorry..

Agreed, the single coil version got better colors. I'm pretty happy with the Sunburst HS though, looks gorgeous.

Love to see the player series expanding Dare I say I think it's the strongest series released in the last several years. If I were to make a humble suggestion bring back some of the older colors they were better than some of the new ones although I do like the silver that has been recently brought to the lineup. I hope you guys seriously consider putting Inca silver on more of your main line production guitars I know that you recently put it in the mod shop but those are very expensive to make The color should be on several of the American stratocasters and it's not I had to hunt down a body for 4 months to get the color

Really expressive playing...well done sir! The neck pickup is just a great tone. HB get's it on. I wish he would have demoed the coil split.

Beautiful playing great sound

I recently bought the Crimson Red Transparent HS with half my stimulus check. I remember it being a tough decision, I love the look and color of the SS Capri Orange, and I prefer the sound of single coils, but since I didn't have a guitar in my studio with a humbucker, and the HS Duo-Sonics can coil split, I decided to get the HS. Boy howdy am I glad I put my little humbucker prejudice to the side. The versatility of the HS is remarkable, not to mention, the middle position' s (when HB isn't split) clean tone is absolutely beautiful and proves to my ears to be the signature tone of the HS variation. I find it delightful, that in Fender's official KZread promo for Duo-Sonic SS & HS, Nicholas not only chooses the HS for the promo's outro, but also starts the looped chord progression using the HS' lovely middle position.

@Sebastian B It sounds fine split into single in both bridge (on its own) and middle (combined with the neck single pup) I'm very thankful the HS won the internal debate I had. I even find myself using the HB without the split a lot more than I thought I would...especially in middle position without HB split, which the SS version won't have. Very impressed with the amount of tonality I'm getting from the HS version. Still would like to get an SS one day, but thankful I got the HS first. Best wishes with your decision. Chances are whichever D-S version you decide to get, you'll love so much and end up eventually getting the other version.

I nearly bought one a duo sonic thinking it was a mustang (it was high up above) but just couldn’t face buying it due to the fact - it was a student budget guitar. So instead I bought a special edition all black Stratocaster HSS with telecaster knobs and a matching black headstock! Big difference! Lol 😂 I would of been so bummed if I’d got that duo sonic - after I realised it was a duo sonic it was then a showdown between a surf green Vintera mustang and the above limited edition all black aside the chrome Stratocaster. I’ve owned two mustangs in 2007, never owned a strat so went for strat, and I’m So glad I did as wow it’s a sight to behold, so so beautiful, chrome humbucker and two single coils.. highly recommended it to ANY guitar player. I used to say ‘I don’t play strats’ - now ‘I LOVE strats!’

About a year ago I bought a MIM Fender Duo Sonic. And you know what? I've picked up my Gibson SG only a few times this year. I see no need. At first I was worried that the singles would not sound so "powerful". But I was wrong.

would I get more of a nirvana tone if I changed the bridge to a jb pu, or is it fine as it is?

Just buy the HS in sunburst and swap the pickgaurd and bridge pickup.

@@Skiptracer1981 I was about to correct you and say that they had the same body-shape, but I looked it up and it looks like you're right, the duo-sonic is a nearly-straight waistline compared to the mustang. Learned something new!

Mustang has a larger head-stock which might make it a bit more neck heavy. Mustang also has a the back pickup at an angle where the duo is straight. more info here: guitar.com/review/electric-guitar/the-big-review-fender-player-mustang-player-duo-sonic/

I'm relatively new to playing guitar. I know Fender is normally 25½ and Gibson 24¾ scale length. What are the pros and cons of 24" scale length? The pros of having a short scale guitar as it makes playing and doing string bends easier because there is less string tension. It’s also good for people who have smaller hands. I can’t think of any cons.

pros are well known cons shortcales doesn't tune that good mostly B and G strings when playing open chords

Duo Sonic is the way, In Sienna Sunburst it looks amazing and it's more versatile due the humbucker

Hey Fender, why not build this guitar true to the original specs with the thinner nut width & less frets so younger players can have a true student guitar? You can't buy these guitars cheaply anymore like when I was a kid in the 60's & 70's. Thanks to reverb & Ebay people are trying to sell them for thousands. Back in the day everybody I knew started playing on 3/4 sized Fenders, eventually trading up making them available to younger players. Fender has missed the opportunity to keep this circle going in continuity. A 3/4 sized student body with a neck made for adult sized hands looks ridiculous guys. WTF Fender? You already make how many guitars for adult sized hands?

Too expensive now! I understand inflation and such, but practically doubling the price... I didn't feel good dropping $800 on one of these, but when a guitar speaks to you, you gotta buy it...

Hmm... My Gibson Explorer is also plug & play, & all I ever think about are the notes I play with that too? Come to think of it, my Blacktop Jaguar, & even my cheap gut-string are exactly the same?

Why would Fender have a presenter who gets his info wrong? The Duo-Sonic is not an offset, it predates the offset body invention by several years. The first offset body by Fender was the Jazzmaster in 1958. Only the Duo-Sonic II, which came out in 1964, and which only exists now as the hardtail Mustang mode, is offset. You would think Fender would get presenters who know their guitar and development history. A guitar is only an offset body guitar, if the waist is offset. A Duo-Sonic version 1 (which is what these are)has a symmetrical waist like a Strat and Tele.

Can Fender please stop with the glossy necks and headstocks? Please give the fretboard the same finish as the back of the neck. It's much nicer. It's the only thing I don't like on my Player Jaguar bass.
