This is a beautiful field. I never got to play in fields that nice unless it was in travel tournaments far away. And a lot of fields were still not as nice as this one. My high school baseball field measurements were LF: 335’ LCF: 395’ C: 420’ RCF: 390’ RF: 335’ It was a very deep ball park. This field is gorgeous tho 🙌

As High School and Travel baseball has gotten more competitive these teams have young pitchers throwing more pitches and ALOT of curveballs. Please young players planning of being pitchers: SAVE YOUR ARM for when it matters. Don’t let these coaches burn you out at 13,14,15,16 so they can win a lousy tournament. Wait until your Senior Year and PG Tournaments to show off your arm. A lot of pitchers are promising at 13 yrs old then when they turn 17 or 18 there arms are already burned out. That can lead to serious injury. It happened to me. I had an ex-major leaguer as a coach (won’t say any names) but I won a lot of games for him. Pitched all lot of games. Suddenly my arm started to hurt. He thought I was exaggerating. Until one day he took me off the mound after pitching 5 innings and I told him my arm was sore. Instead of sitting me on the bench he put me at third base. A ground ball made it so I had to throw off balance and my elbow just popped. I get goosebumps just describing it. The pain all comes back, it’s crazy. But my arm was never the same. I was 13 years old topping out at 77 mph. Great promise. I pitched a no hitter win against the #1 14U in my state. Only less than a year later my arm was in a cast due to an elbow fracture. Tommy John Injury is what it’s called. Pitchers know what type of injury that is. My advice is just that: Save your arm. It’s your meal ticket. Don’t waste it at an early age where baseball is supposed to be fun and stress free. No Scholarships or contracts in play. Parents as well should be responsible and take care of their children. Don’t let coaches take advantage of them. I know it feels good to have your kid throw a great game but at 14 thru 16 years old it’s not as important as winning a scholarship.

So many back hands , instead of just blocking the ball to keep runners at bay….could have saved 2-3 runs

There’s no evidence to suggest that. In fact, it’s velocity that has been shown to be more damaging, and a lack of structured throwing programs.
