Playball - Best of 1939, 1940, and 1941
The Playball sets of 1939, 1940, and 1941 were the final major manufacturer sets prior to the war. As such, the review of these 3 sets and what makes them special and unique allows for some debate and discussion of which set is "best". So, what do you think?

Excellent collection of Play Ball's! They are all nice sets in their own way. The color in '41 is hard to beat. Those samples are interesting & quite rare.

I think that is kind of the fun of looking at those three together. They all have such unique features while still being similar in many ways. Thank you for your insight!
Great video Aaron. I love the 39 play ball set. In my opinion it’s a very under appreciated set. The photography is fantastic.

If I had to choose, I’d go with the 39 with the 40 a close second. The 39 Williams is an amazing card. You got quite the collection! Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much, my friend! It is always fun to discuss the sets to see where people are drawn. We have to agree that 39 Williams is just epic in the hobby. I'm so fortunate to have that one in the mix.
Very nice collection Glad you mentioned how the 1940 play ball cards are more scarce more that 1939 & 1941. Gemrate pop reports confirm that along with basic observations when looking for play ball player runs

Great collection. I think '40 is my least favorite, but they're all cool. Agree on the '39 Dickey - such a great image. I used to have one but sold it to buy something else. Anyway -awesome cards!

Thank you, my friend! I will always be drawn to the 40 because of Shoeless Joe, Wagner, Johnson, Mathewson, etc. They are all super awesome in their own way, for sure. Get that 39 Dickey back on the shopping list, too! Such a cool card.
39 set gets my vote. Although the 41 Ted is my favorite card out of all three sets. 40 is definitely my least fav. Nice cards!

One of the few areas we have differing opinions. I think the 40 was a favorite of mine growing up because of the black and white (compared to 80s cards), and the old-time guys that were included just drew me in. 39 is definitely more popular than I was guessing, which is fun.
