Seeing this again makes me wish that SAS7 in Adelaide and TVW7 in Perth had gone to 24-hour transmission much sooner. 😉

This show was based off a format in America under the title of "Card Sharks". It originally started airing on NBC daytime in April 1978 with host Jim Perry. That would last until October 1981. The show would be revived on CBS daytime in January 1986 with host Bob Eubanks. In September 1986, a daily syndicated show debuted with host Bill Rafferty. That version would last until June 1987. The daytime show would last until March 1989. A new daily syndicated show, with some differences from the previous versions, debuted in September 2001 with host Pat Bullard. That would only last until December 2001.

keep in mind it was 1984, I think it was still allowed in America at the time but I don't recall anyone who did at that time anyway. Groucho Marx would smoke a cigar while hosting you bet your life, and I'm sure I've seen Gary Moore smoke during I've got a secret but that was in the 50s.
