Ойындар

Hi... It's been a long time! so long story short... I'm back with a new video!
Another PS3 vid... but this time showing my new tried and tested SAFE way of getting that dam CPU CAP off so you can re apply a good thermal paste or repair a PS3 60GB.
4 PS3's have been harmed while trying out different ways... so i know its all good but it will take a little longer but I think you guys will like it

this actually seems less dangerous than a metal string or a blade, but I wonder if heating the glue instead of the solvent might work better

You can remove the cpu and rsx ihs with a thin metal guitar string aswell and cut it off with it. To replace thermal paste underneath

Having watched various videos on removing the IHS I went with your method as you used the words 'safest method'. Well, I don't know if I'm not very good at it but it took 4hrs in total, not sure how you did it in 10 minutes. It didn't really matter how long it took to me though, and I'm pleased to say they came off eventually, the RSX popped straight off but the the CELL was much trickier, thankfully no damage on either. They certainly needed some maintenance as the factory paste had gone very hard and crusty.

lol, this is a very cut video, it does actually take some time to get through the glue they use, but no risk of scratching the chip. I have killed 3 trying blades and pallet knives, not to mention cutting my fingers on the razor blade ! that video is some ware on YT and that looked easy ... it weren't.. : /

What about instead of going all the way through the chip, you could use the floss around the edges to only cut through the adhesive avoiding contact with the chip underneath? I have yet to try it but just an idea.

Do not do this. I ended up essentially sanding through the solder mask on the PCB around the cpu die. Luckily, I stopped after a few hours of almost zero progress, only to use an angled and sanded down piece of metal, and the traces may be intact from what I can see. It did go through the first copper layer in some areas though. I don't know if the ps3 will boot, and I have strong suspicion that it won't, but I'll give an update after I've put it all back together... Luckily this was a second hand backup. Update: YLOD.
