    ThorW Yeah, it's a little strange for me. I'm a huge fan of baseball and just now started looking up cricket cuz of this video. There's a bunch that I don't understand or don't like, such as the fact that the batsman can get out just for being on the pitch. I think it would be much more interesting if he had to or could get tagged out with a chance of running to a crease. Anyway, an interesting game and I'd play it.

    Danger Ranger Dan what do you mean by 'just being on the pitch'? He can be run out by knocking the bails off while the runner is out of his crease. This is equivalent to being tagged out

  • @Festias

    @Festias

    9 жыл бұрын

    Lachie55 Ah, so if the runner is on the pitch and the ball touches a bail, then he's out. That clarifies it for me, but I still like baseball's way of doing it more. Much more intense.

    Slippery Gypsy No, its just that games in Australia have something like a 30% surcharge. We pay $90 dollars for $60 games and $110-120 for the biggest AAAs. It is a licenced game though, so that probably factors into the price too. It really should only cost $30, they'd sell more copies and the price would fit the game.

    Just to explain there is a long format of the game which is over multiple days and is tactical and grueling, with multiple smaller plays within it that can change the balance of the match. And there are shorter games over one day or three that contains explosive hitting and the usual fast paced and tactical bowling (pitching) and extremely athletic fielding (catching flying balls close in with bare hands). So yes cricket can be fast paced, it's a sport that a lot of different people can enjoy.

    So it's like baseball but, the 'pitcher' can do a bit of running, he aims bounces the ball instead of a straight pitch and is aiming for the three pipe objects behind him? While the 'batter' or 'cricketer' (if anything) has to hit the ball and run between two points for points and can run up to four points in total? o o General concept of the game or am i just lost as hell? PS: Cricket Major League got a major budget for this technology. :o

    Your close the bowler is trying to bounch the ball into the stumps to knock the bails off the batsmen hit the ball out and run if they get the ball to the boundary its 4 runs if they get it to the boundry without touching the ground its 6 runs and theres a shitload of money in cricket these days the cricket world cup just finished afew weeks ago with australia beating new zealand by 7 wickets (they beat new zealands score and still had 7 players yet to bat) though if you wanted to see a quick (in cricket terms) game watch a 20/20 match its all about the big hits

    Bowling is different from pitching, in that you can't use your elbow in bowling. The momentum of the ball needs to be provided by the rotation of the shoulder, instead of the combination of the shoulder rotation and the extending of the arm in pitching and throwing. Fast bowlers choose to run up as it gives extra momentum to the ball, but it's not always done. The bowler can choose to bounce the ball up to two times, (mostly just the one bounce though) this is done as a bouncing ball is more difficult to hit than a bowl that hasn't bounced (Full Toss). As for running, there isn't an actual limit to how much a batter can run. At the top level though, running more than 3 is unlikely. Think of running 4 as an inside the park home run. At much lower levels of competition, there have been a few players who have ran 9s and 10s, mainly due to the fielding team making multiple errors.
