After a number or recommendations we decided to check out the Northern end of D'Aguilar National Park while up there on a recent trip and boy were we surprised!!
The natural temptation is to head North into the Sunshine Coast Hinterland however there are many, many options located much closer to the city. From the Gantry Day area with its historic mill structure to the nearby walks this rather compact forest area provides a lot to see and do.
Forest trails are well maintained and marked, leading you to a number of stunning lookouts and swimming holes. You don't need to partake in any knarly off-road shenanigans however if you choose, there are always the trails which sneak off to the side!

We do both the Western Escarpment and Mount Mee Forest Drives stopping off at the Somerset and Falls Lookouts while also exploring the Archer amp ground and Broadwater day area and the biggest surprise of the day which was the Rocky Hole swimming area.
In fact with all this wet weather we have had, I would be tempted to skip the Archer and Broadwater leg and focus on the walks and features of the main Mount Mee forest drive, especially if you are only up there for the day!
