This is the closest thing to a Helldivers Halo we're going to get. The vulnerability playing as a fragile human is very well tuned in this mod.

I was just thinking about how all we need now is another version of this mod (or a mod of the mod :D) to setup a Helldivers-esque randomized objective mode.

Ngl, the f bombs combined with the improved audio, made this even more realistic. I’m still surprised till this day, we never got a game that involved the UNSC infantry (besides the odst). It’s not a matter of objective, but rather barely getting by. The covenant feel large, threatening, and tower you; compared to being a walking powerhouse like the Spartans. You feel arguably even more naked as the marines/army, compared to the ODSTs.

The reason they don't make a game where you play as regular UNSC infantry is because that doesn't appeal to the target demographic of the Halo series and of video games in general. The average childs line of thinking is: "I wanna be the strong guy with powers"

​@@xXSgtWolfXxpersonally i mostly see i always hear ppl wanting to play as normal soldiers, its the same with 40k the only game you play as a nobody is darktide but its a coop horde gane so you kill 100s of enemies, i was hoping it would be like gtfo since that game makes you feel overwhelmed and i wish coop horde games did this, even the amount of ammo you carry is crazy, like a player can cram 15 mags worth of ammo into a pack, my main appeal in games is vulnerability and scarce resources, these franchises really change moods depending on the character it focuses on, this also happens in star wars, there's just something about a normal person going up against powerful foes with just a rifle and willingly too

In ODST you were essentially a spartan with a reskinned game mechanic, was so disappointed.

This mod really gives off thr vibes of the indomitable human spirit, like seriously from the voice lines to reusing certain animations and even subtle effects this is really great all around

I love how fierce, real, and gritty it feels. Mod author definitely did a good job and you did a great job showcasing it!

Smg is lore inaccurate unfortunately. It bothered me. It ejects shells that are way to big already out of gun that fires caseless ammunition.

I hope this showcase gets a lot of attention, you see how amazing this is and it really makes you wonder what has 343 been doing for over the last decade.

Now if the mod author managed to include ODST drop pods for respawn like in Ultimate Firefight, it could be the ultimate "Halo: Helljumpers" gaming to date

This being a legit game on itself and being multiplayer and/or singleplayer would be no joke a million dollar idea if done right (not micro transactions for a color or something like that)

This is honestly how any Halo game should be that isn't a focus on Spartans. They should be regular humans and the gameplay should be in 3rd person with realistic gameplay and movements. Take Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, take that style of movement and gameplay and make it ODSTs

I love how the Trooper mods keep getting iterated on. A lot of the earlier ones had various issues since they didn’t properly tweak the sandbox. This appears to be the most refined version. It’s too bad we’ve never had a game that makes you fell like a normal human (ODST doesn’t count since it was just diet Halo 3. Should’ve been a tactical shooter with a fully fleshed out stealth system. Think Rainbow Six mixed with Splinter Cell, but with Halo content. We also should’ve been fighting Elites for a good chunk of the game and got to experience the Great Schism from the perspective of a normal human). It will be cool to see what else people make. Since some of the lines were taken from Prototype a good chunk of the game’s lines could work for a Flood Firefight as a normal human mode. There should be a Jackal shield armor ability that functions the same way the Hardlight shield in 4 does.

How are fans making the best Halo content

This is a great example of how a few simple changes can have a huge impact

You should’ve asked this when they first took over an fundamentally changed the canon before even making the games (stuff like changing how Rampancy works, making Forerunners and humans separate, and other stuff like that. Before anyone tries to argue they didn’t change the Forerunners watch C3Sabertooth’s We Were Forerunner video where he outlines how for the SUPER MAJORITY of Bungie’s run they were VERY consistent with who the Forerunners were meant to be. The ONLY outliers were the few things Frank O’Conner had direct control over. Contact Harvest written by Joseph Staten reveals that humans being the descendants of the Forerunners is what the Prophets started the Human Covenant War to cover up).

Microsoft is the entire reason why halo sucks and why a ton of people who got into the game development industry just to work on halo as their dream got laid off. Microsoft is the reason halo fucking sucks. Microsoft fucking sucks and is actively killing off studios like the one that made HiFi rush which is the only original xbox studio game to win an award in literal YEARS.

bro this has been my dream halo game from since I was 12. Would love to see a single spartan respawn as a reward or as a last life, just like how marines see you in the game, a last hope, also the marine dialogue included. "A spartan?! we might actually get through this!" also gears of war style cover animations as seen in the campaign. This one is a long shot, but I've always felt casualties in halo were brushed over. Imagine a chance to medivac fallen allies to save on lives. The injured marines sat against walls in the starting area, awaiting medivac, having to drag a fallen comrade to shelter after being knocked out. Also i saw ai spartans, they should def pick up the machine gun turret if it falls.

There was a really cool mod like this, but it was the standard reach campaign instead of firefight and you could customize every feature of your Trooper, Marine or ODST. And it turned Noble team into ODST’s but sadly the mod is broken and it hasn’t gotten updated in forever.

This is so exciting! Just by looking at the gameplay I can feel how vulnerable the player is. My only issue with the mod, is how weak shielded enemies seem to be due to the weapons rework, besides that everything is perfect.

The system requirements for MCC on Steam (DON’T buy the Windows Store version since it doesn’t have Steam Workshop or other benefits) are really low since most of the game came out on the original Xbox/360. A decent Windows laptop will run it.

This mod developer would be perfect to make a Halo campaign where you play normal troopers.

Not being able to aim properly while descending on a jetpack does seem fairly realistic tbh. The current “jetpacks” irl are quite complex and they are difficult to handle. People need both hands to make the actual physics of those to work properly. Falling from the sky while trying to manage your descent rate is scary, especially when you’re not some super soldier equipped in power armor.

This one is really cool!

The boost to rocket speed alone makes me love this as a realism nut.

Very cool video bro! This is something that I always wanted tbh, a (somewhat) realistic Halo tactical shooter where you play as the regular Joes of the UNSC, with a grittier and more relatable military story. Of course, 343i would never do something like that as they had made it clear that Halo is a "Spartan Story", nothing else, nothing more. But I also don't think this hypothetical game would be well received by most Halo fanbois as it would ruin their precious power fantasy.

I feel like they could’ve implemented the turret and made it realistic with a bit more work. Just make there a time limit you can hold it, half movement speed, no jump while holding it, and .25% speed moving while firing or no moving at all while firing. You would still get lit up trying to use it

You can get the game working on a Windows laptop since the system requirements are very low. The computers we have now are more powerful than the original Xbox/360 could’ve ever hoped. The Steam version is the BEST version of the game thanks to Steam Workshop making mod installations be as easy as a button press.

I've been thinking Halo could use a really good 3rdPS for a while now! Especially from the perspective of marines/ ODSTs. Give it Gears of War style cover and it might just work! Also, I think this video is the first time I've ever heard F-bombs dropped in a Halo game?! It has happened once in a novel, but it is almost jarring to hear it in game!

This is what ODST should’ve been instead of diet Halo 3 that only gives you the illusion of fragility. It also should’ve had a fully fleshed out stealth system, instead of “silenced” weapons that still alert enemies.

This looks damn cool, but I think they can go further with the concept. Maybe using actual classes for individual troopers(Rifleman, Missileman, Machine Gunner etc) with different abilities and how they use weapons. Like for example, maybe only machine gunners can rip off turrets and use them. It's just a thought.

PC only no way to play on XBOX.

My settings arent too different to default. Only real difference is that mine has the covenant slowly ramp up to a full on assault with a focus on using alot of basic infantry to pin the troopers down while elites and brutes do a proper push using spec-ops and strike teams. Also for some reason jackal snipers absolutely UNLOAD that needle rifle like its full-auto.

one day i'll play those amazing mods, but not today, cuz i'm broke and dont own a pc Sad

It's called settings. Use ODST gear. No shields, slower movement speed, reduce jump height. Even the Xbox can handle that.

Is there anyway to customize your guy other than color. Like for example the “Playable ODST Marine mod” on Nexus Mods were you could give your Trooper different packs, camouflage patterns, helmets, etc. essentially create the Trooper you want. Or are you stuck without any type of that customization?

If by "cracking" means stealing then no, obviously that's not morally sound. For just $10 bucks you can purchase the entire Master Chief Collection on Steam and play all sorts of mods for free.

No. Owning mcc on xbox gamepass means nothing. You have simply pay $10 or less for individual games. It's as if you could look this up....
