Great spotlight on a type of coral you see a lot in stores but not so much in people's tanks. Hopefully this will help with that.

I grew one of these quite large many years ago and must have made EVERY possible mistake but it powered through somehow.

Thank you for doing a spotlight on platygyra, there is not much in depth information specific to them out there. I got a frag of platycakes from tidal gardens a while back, but within a few days all the flesh was gone. I placed it in low light, low flow. I would like to try another platycakes again some day but i still cant seem to keep any maze brain type corals happy for extended periods in my tank (dragon soul, several types of favias)

When the problem is across a number of corals like that I always worry that there is something actively eating them. It could be anything, even fish.

@@tidalgardenswhoa i never even thought of that as a possible reason. I do have a handful of reefsafe with caution fish in the tank. Thanks for the feedback.

It's Jeremy. Thanks for the content Than 👍 Any chance of a video on coral that both Florence under actinic while also looking stunning under daylight? I'm more than 2hrs away from the nearest LFS so I don't get my eyes on the amount of coral you get to 😢. Thanks.

Hey man love the vids been watching for about 4 years now. I have some questions about par and lighting for certain corals. I’m running a AI prime on my fluval 13.5 And my little issue is the growth is absurdly fast for all corals, including Acropora and the colors are unbelievably stunning but certain corals more specific alveopora grow like crazy but aren’t super colorful like when I got them. Nutrients are 7 nitrates, .1 phosphates. And I’m set up on a doser dosing all for reef and the tank has basically a 95% stability curve for elements I regularly test for. I’m not sure if it’s the location for that coral but it’s not as bright and pink and blue as it used to be. It’s relatively subtle and bland compared to when I got it 2 years ago. Anything that might affect this?
