This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This video focuses on Plato's dialogue, The Apology, and examines Socrates arguments, in his cross-examination of Meletus and address to the jury, defending himself against charges of "impiety"

Super helpful! Our assignment is to just read the textbook but it wasn't very helpful. You explain things well and made the entire thing super clear for me! Thank you so so much ☺

thank you. I am on a mission to learn Proculus' Elements of Theology ( well, there are too many books). Platonism greatly influenced the west. "mission from God" implies the divine. Pretty clear.

@@GregoryBSadler really helpful for my studies, you are doing a noble work, i really like the way in which you present the topic, concise videos is really nice 👍🏼,
Is there a chance you would ever give a lecture on Ghazali and Ibn Rushd?

I've answered that several times before, and said perhaps down the line. Right now, I've got a lot of other content to shoot, so it would likely be quite some time from now Anything you'd like to ask or comment about Plato, Socrates, the Apology. . . .? That's the topic for this video

Gregory B. Sadler I find the word god meaningless, a metaphorical hypothesis at best, when you ask a believer what this god is they say he is the creator, but we have absolutely no idea about this creation process, so it's an unknown entity defined by an unknown act. I hope this relates to the topic, if not please forgive me.

Well, you finding a word meaningless. . . no, that doesn't really have anything to do with Plato, Socrates, or their conceptions of the divine -- which is something very different than the creator god of monotheistic religions.
