@@Svalbardmannen It should be ok. The temperature outside is way lower than the inside. The hottest spot is the ram and it hits 94C, thus, the temperature you get outside the console could get 1/3 of that, tops.

I don't understand why you can tell someone how good of a product it is, and they just choose to not believe, they'll be like uuhhh its not gonna work, blah blah just plastic it'll peel, or it doesn't even reflect as nice as paint because its plastic, like no dude, thats just the name of it, chill (then also the gloss product came out like a year or 2 later)

@@deontaeb5466 I think they’ll release panels along with custom consoles so people who already have a console can get the panels and people who don’t have it yet can still get a console they should also release OEM matte black panels that people can buy

The heat escapes through the vents via the fan, not through the plastic panels, nor do the panels act as a heat sink, so them being plasti-dipped should have no affect what so ever on preventing the PS5 from being cooled. This is common sense people, come on. If you ever had a problem with your PS5 and had to send it back, and your worried if the plasti-dip voids your warranty, simply peel it off back to original, none the wiser. This is the first thing I'll be doing when I get my PS5.

Now that you've taken these out, I got say you made a very beginners mistake when spraying the plastidip in the first place. When you're spray coating or painting something, always make sure to spray each layer perpendicular to the previous one. This way you avoid that horizontal pattern we could see in the final results and guarantee a very smooth finish. Other than that, the Black PS5 looks waaaay better than the stock one!

The only thing is it can be hard to get out of crevices, I wish he showed a close up of the back of the pannels specifically around the locking tabs

THANK YOU. Like, I don't doubt you can easily peel it off the flat panel parts, but no way is it easily coming off those clips. He should have been upfront about it, rather than just cutting away right before he got to the clips. I'm gonna avoid the clips when I do this

can we use plaatidip as a peelable base then use paint over the top like a pearlescent?

How many cans did you require and how long is the waiting period between each spray ?

1 can will do, 40 min or so between layers, changing spray pattern 90 degrees each layer

I doubt plasti dip would work well on the controller. Itd probably last a week if that before peeling up. I painted a ps4 controller with real paint with a clear coat and that started rubing off only after a month. Sadly idk if there is a good enough paint to last on the controller since it sees greasy fingers and rubbing constantly

Oh wow. I got your first part of this video recommended then saw this one at the end of your video. I was surprised that you were celebrating 1k subs because the quality of your videos are so good. DBrand, who have a lot of experiance with wraps on consoles actually withdrew theres as they quickly realised it was just to difficult to wrap completely due to the very narrow edge of the panels and the shape of the drive slot tended to leave visible gaps. Its the main reason they decided to just make their own side panels instead

Is there a way to place letters onto the faceplate and plastidip around the letters? I want a black ps5 with white letters on the faceplate. Have a neat idea I'd like to try. If this is possible, is it also possible to plastidip letters onto the faceplate? Might do a different color other than white if possible.

If anything it acts as a protective coating to save the actual covers for a few scratches...peel it and its back to white if someone doesn't like the color if you ever decide to sell it...

You have to remove the plates anyway to add the memory expansion so that will never be an issue or void anything

I don't think people understand what Plastidip is designed to do and the heat that it is normally exposed to. A PS5 is physically incapable of reaching such heats, so no need to worry about it having any impact on the temperature of your console.

I would love to See a ps5 customization in the style of the PS One, like the ps4 Special Edition. Including the Original colored logo

Done... It's good that you were able to remove it safely and no damage happened. You never know what might happen when trying it out on a new surface that this hasn't been done to.

I didn’t like having the plastidip coating on my PS5. I didn’t like how it made the outer plates feel tacky and it attracted hair pretty badly. I also removed it.

If you could test out a vinyl wrap I think many people would love to see it.. Everyone has seen good spray paints or custom paint jobs and even hydro dipping but a good vinyl colour is yet to be seen. Would love to see how it comes out!

Wouldn't the plasti dip retain heat which would futher damage the internal components which are reaching thermal thresholds.

Awesome. Thank you for the reply. I’m gunna do it myself and didn’t want to waste money buying two cans (to be safe) if I didn’t need to. I’m also going to give it a top coat of black satin spray paint as well. I think satin as it’s in between Matt and gloss will be a better colour and also look better and smoother than plasti dip

Put a polymer moulding over the clips to keep the dip off so it’s easier to remove

I just spray painted mine Matte black looks damn good

You should have said or showed that it’s NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to remove the Plasti-Dip from the tabs and locks on the inside of the panels. THAT would’ve been super important info to know before I sprayed mine. It WILL NOT peel off. 👎🏻

The thicker/more layers applied makes it easier to remove. People use this on cars all the time and in the sun. It will be ok on a PS5.

Can you paint on plastidip with graffiti sprays or anything?

What about the hooks on the inside of the panels? I would like to see the process too.

Guaranteed PlayStation will be making tons of new side plates and will likely remake the original white panel aswell. Nothing to worry about I don’t think

Would like to add the note that it will only come off easily like shown in the video if you have properly added enough of it to the console during the initial installation. The thinner it is applied, the more difficult it is to remove. Especially in small areas like the PS Logo, around the clips, and in the CD Insertion area. If you have applied too little of it, it can be an absolute nightmare to remove from a textured surface like the PS5 case. This though is not a comment only related to the PS5 but any application of Plasti-dip. Just a heads up, for those of you who encounter issues removing it. You did not apply enough.

Glad you did this cause I was curious myself about plasti dip ruining my ps5 but did it leave a smell when you plasti dipped it

Well you failed the IQ test, you must remove the panels and let cure. Since it can handle engine temperatures it can handle the PS5.

I got a ps5 and I love the content I followed on all accounts and wish everyone can get a ps5

plastic dip has a 200F heat resistance. a ps5 doesn't get that hot unless you jeep it under about 9 blankets and put a space heater blowing into it. peak temp tested on the ps5 was 95.2 F i think its gonna be a okay

I plastidipped my ps5 a few days ago. 10/10 would do again 👌🏼

@@user24566 I’ve had my PS5 running for about 3-4 hours a day since I plastidipped it a week ago. Since then, the console hasn’t had any issues with heat or performance what so ever. If you’re thinking about it, definitely go for it. Your PS5 will look so good, you’ll regret not doing it sooner.

Thanks for doing this video. People are stupid and have no idea about or used plasti dip before. I dipped the wheels and tail lights on my car and it lasted about 2 years or so( hell I've have my car badges dipped for over 3 years and they are still holding on). The only reason I peeled it off was because the by that stage the sum had finally started to make them look a bit dull. As you said, more layers the better, more easy and cleaner once taken off. I would maybe mask off the clips and do around the edge of the inside of the panels or not do as many coats of people are worried about blocking off air flow

That's not the issue, the problem is plastic-dip has a lot of chemicals and the heat generated by the console start to break down those agents in fumes, as studies shown can cause from asthma to cancer.
