In this tutorial, I'm going to show you the basic steps to create a practical USB charger model using plasticity. You'll get a hands-on introduction to Plasticity's user interface, selection modes, and basic object creation, including spheres, cubes, and cylinders. I'll also explain how to manipulate edges and vertices for modeling precision, employ the fillet and chamfer tools for edge rounding, and demonstrate the use of boolean operations to refine your design. This video is perfect for absolute beginners looking to get started with plasticity and 3D modeling.

    I just completed your FREE Beginner Course, and I must say you do an incredible job walking through the build step-by-step... this is so incredibly helpful! I have taken other courses online, and completed several exercises on YT, but you by far do the best at explaining Plasticity and your approach for each object as you model. I cant thank you enough for putting the time into these videos, it really shows! And I look forward to completing your other courses!

Solution are expensive or on cloud.. But this seems to be intuitive.. And I have checked prices, reasonable, one time payment, not squeezing money from customer, hobbyist, who is not use it for business.. Please, is it possible to enter measurement? Also I have seen, that is not parametric, ok, for my purpose is still enough to have undo.. Thank you for video! 👍

    I'd love to see some videos on how to model with precise dimensions. I model in Fusion 360 and the 2 things keeping me from using Placticity is the lack of dimension tools and threads. Thoughts? But great videos - I've seen several of yours and they are very helpful.

    I think Platicity is not really intended for precise, manufacturing modeling etc... Therefore are other software like Fusion360, Solidworks etc. Plasticity is explicitly for artists, concepts and a more creative workflow. That's why I like to use it. And that's what I am using it for. For creating fast, creative concepts, design etc. I am just not interested in precise modeling and I never needed it.

    Yes, it would be great if we could have dimension tools. This program looks fantastic, but there are times when I just need to model something attractive, and in other cases I want to model an item that must precisely fit somewhere. I see when, for example sketching a rectangle the dimensions are shown - now if they could just be input with a keyboard and edited that would be fantastic. I come from using Solidworks and it is just difficult to imagine working without being able to precisely change a dimension easily.

  • @designstudie

  • @nikita.kapustin

    @nikita.kapustin

    1. If you want to correct the size of the inner object you can select the body and press "S" "S" ans scale it. Or you go into face mode "3" and select all the faces you want to make smaller. WHen you will select the faces you will get this control to drag/adjsut the size. 2. The same for fillets. Go into face mode "3" and select the bevel. Than you will get the drag / control and you can adjust the size of it

    I mean the most outer part. In your (by the way very nice) tutorial you have selected 3 parts in preparation for a boolean union. But only 2 parts were fused. This is visible in your video, directly after the boolean operation you are going on to move the resulting new solid along a axis, but the most outer part was not fused and as a result did not move. I am relatively new to 3D desgin, but my conclusion is that the boolean operation will succed only when all parts are intersecting each other. Since you did a cut between most outer part and the contained part inside, the intersectio requirement was not met. Only my observation- kindly correct me if I am wrong on this.

    Nikita, I have a request, can you explain what is the difference between SOLID and SHEET . I made a solid and it looks like a solid (all walls are closed) but it shows me that it is a SHEET. Why ?

  • @nikita.kapustin

    @nikita.kapustin

    10 ай бұрын

    Solid: - Represents a three-dimensional object with volume. - Has mass and can be measured in terms of volume. - Fully enclosed; no gaps or holes. Sheet: - Represents a thin, flat, two-dimensional surface in a 3D space. - Does not have volume like a solid, but can exist in a 3D model. - Like a piece of paper in the 3D world. If you "think" it's a solid but it shows you a sheet. Select that sheet. Press "F" search for "Find boundary edges" and look out for those edges. Close them and you should have a solid!:)

That was apparently the blue line. At some point the grid showed up with the proper increments, so I just extended it in preferences. I needed to make a parallelogram solid with specific angles. I can move an edge to make the parallelograph, but I don't know how to make it a specific amount. Just moving the arrow on the axis doesn't allow precision, so how do you do that?
