Yep, I really do like Vallejo, but in just the last 2 years it went from 2.99 a bottle to 4.99 a bottle at my local hobby shop, which is the only place I can get it local. So, I will try the craft paint off and on, it seems to work good! Talk to you soon my friend!...Bill

    Well that is a lot more expensive indeed, really understand it that you try other options. Over here a bottle of Vallejo is like 2.50 i think so that is not so expensive. You pay twice the price from over here :o

    Nice tour of the model room. I like the paint job on the Jolly Roger. Looks terrific. I mentioned several times in my videos about Rustoleum buying Testors. That happened over a year ago. If you have any older Testors spray cans they say Rustoleum on the back. They are doing away with pretty much all of the military type flats and basically only going to be producing the standard colors. What you find in hobby stores as far as the Model Master enamels is pretty much it. Most of the colors are already no longer available and not being produced. If you go to a Hobby Lobby, what they carry is pretty much what they still make.

  • @JimPaulJr

    @JimPaulJr

    Yes, it's a shame. I would have liked to use the Model Master enamels for this as the box lists all of the colors for both Model Master and Tamiya. None of the Model Master enamels in the greens were no longer available. That's the reason I went with the Tamiya acrylics. What I do have in the Model Master wasn't enough to do the model with. I used a whole 3/4 ounce bottle of the Tamiya deep green just for the base coat as it is a large model. Hobbylinc not Hobbylinc Japan, sells the large 3/4 ounce bottles of Tamiya for $2.70. That's more than half as much you would pay in a hobby shop if you find one that carries the large bottles. Most hobby shops only carry the small 1/3 ounce bottles which don't last very long if your doing a larger model like the K'tinga or Enterprise or larger 350th scale battleships. Shipping prices aren't that bad either. They are located in Georgia and they also do phone orders too which is what I prefer. Prices on there glues aren't bad either. I strictly use plastruct glue as Tamiya won't bond styrene which I use quit a bit of. With Tamiya liquid glues you can pull apart the seams as it is not meant for plastruct or evergreen styrene. With the plastruct glue the parts will break everywhere but the seams. I've been using that for close to 30 years now. Hobbylinc sells it for about 2 dollars less than the hobby shops.

    I was just using my Testors dullcoat and noticed it was made by Rustoleum back in 2017. I knew that Rustoleum had bought Testors out previous to 2018 but could recall exactly when.

    I was just making a point as many of the modelers on KZread have just realized and think that Rustoleum just bought Testors recently, when it has been over 2 years ago. As far as the Model Master paints, if you follow and listen to my videos, they are only making the standard colors. They have discontinued all of the military flats and many other colors last year. Whatever you come across in the hobby stores is all that is out there. The only colors being sill made are your basic colors that you would find in a box of crayons.

  • @wwkdiecastmore5647

    @wwkdiecastmore5647

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi John, thanks for watching! Well, its around 40 ml of water, 20 ml of isopropyl alcohol, 1 ml of liquitex slow dry, 1 ml of liquitex flow aid. I mix all that in a 60 ml bottle. Then I take that and its about a 50/50 ratio with the paint, sometimes its 60% the paint, and 40% the mixture. Its trial and error, you just have to play with it since some paint can be different!....Bill

    Hello Jay P, thanks for watching and thanks for adding me. I just subscribed to your channel. The paint holder/racks I made out of foam board, used hot glue gun to put it all together, then painted it with a mixture of black acrylic paint and mod podge, which hardened it all up, so its actually pretty solid. They are not perfect but they work, I needed different size slots for all the different sizes of paints, thinners, finishes I use. Cheap to make, just takes a bit of time. I think a few guys have some videos on how they made the ones they have on KZread, just do a search for them. Again, appreciate you subscribing, take care!...Bill
