PLASTIC INJECTION MOLD SETUP
Ғылым және технология
Hi Folks,
This week we load and run the white ABS ring molds that we have been making over the last few Episodes..
Also, we use the "Sprue Wacker" on this mold; you can see how it was made in this episode:
• SPRUE WACKER for plast...
Enjoy!

Great job and I literally laughed my butt off with the Christmas Story bit! I'm a 60 year old mold setter and I cuss at every change over.

Thanks for watching! I think I am running those same parts now!
Thank you for the well-executed trials to ensure the product comes out well
I don't know why it is so fun to watch someone else work their butt off . Have a Joyous New Year!
Very cool- that's gotta be one expensive piece of equipment!
Beings back memories 30. Years in plastic molding good fun
Every video you make is a master class! Thanks for taking the time to bring us along.

Good work! I recommend visiting a plastic injection molding company and observ a quick and safe tool change. It will definitely make your work easier and faster. But, job well done.
Great video, I have done blow moulding for 42 years so very informative, thanks for sharing.

👍🏻Отличная работа. Я сам занимаюсь литьём пластика уже 12 лет. ХАЙТЬЯН отличная машин! У меня сейчас КАЙ МИНГ.
I have never seen such a machine before, and I feel amazed by seeing it. Before this, I had only seen a machine with one injections unit...😮😮😮

@@DragonflyEngineering Does she have a sister? I could use a 40 ton machine.
That is a clever trick with the integrated tunnel gate cutting. 👍. Would a tapered hole for the tunnel gate help reduce the chance of the center stem getting stuck?
@DragonflyEngineering
Жыл бұрын
Thanks, the center runner hole is tapered, but sometime a rivet head of plastic on the nozzle side causes it to be stuck. Thanks for watching
Good videos . I was a Machine setter before, and I do have some comments and points to add. 1.) I suggest you add a leveling tool to ensure the mold is properly leveled before closing the mold. because you might close it unlevelled. 2.) I Don't remove the chain block support even though you have fully clamped on the fixed side. There are times that a mold setter have not fully tightened the brackets on one side and the mold droops or worst fall. I removed it when both A&B sides are bolted on the platen. If one of the A/B loose support or fall from plates, it will hang to the other half. 3.) Remember to put hard hats when moving molds overhead. sometimes eyebolts clips breakout or not fully locked.

Can you share the equipment you use?thank you🙏🏾
I noticed you said you don't really have to run water through the molds.. does this cause zebra striping for you or ghalling of the tool? Having them watered can help you choose where you want the parts to stay as well and help with the flow of the plastic and the cooling process to be shorter. What do I know, I'm just a mold setter.
@DragonflyEngineering

That is true for Aluminum molds, that conduct heat 4 time better then steel. For steel molds, I do run water, or oil to remove hot spots in cores, and heat the mold up. Haven't had much problem with zebra striping. Thanks for watching!

Pero el molde ya tendria que tener las placas aislantes incorporadas
Why not use a locking coupler on ejector rod?
Bro look like Spider man, Peter Parker 👍👍👍
i am a tool setter, why not open the plattens, then eject slowly then connect the coupling

I think because the toggle clamp arms (in open possition) wont let me get my hands in there. Thanks for watching!
Using this ejector extension rod means rotational table cant rotate right? Sprue stuck you might be can reduce gate seal time or make undercut pin to pullout runner

Yes, that is correct, 2 shot molds need a spring ejector return

Can I ask u
How much does the plastic cost per part? How much does each part sell for?
@DragonflyEngineering
Жыл бұрын
Sorry, cant get into sales price since it is for a customer. The plastic cost about 0.90 since i buy lower quantities
You take off the strap and crane before u close B half of mold....i make sure all 4 bolts are in bedore i take crane away just a safety with me but to each it own...also u dont use a level as well..
Why wouldn’t you just bolt the insulator plates to the mold. I would be afraid that that ejector rod would snap when running. Then finally why wouldn’t you torque those toe clamps in.
@DragonflyEngineering

I have some that are oversized insultators to bolt to the molding machine, but I have so many variations of molds, that I usually block mounting holes, or need the ones that bolt the insulator, so I keep them simple. I save $ by not making insulators for all the molds. I also have universal shim plates to get the 2 mold stacks the same height. Yes, as i mentioned I get away with the 1/2 inch rod for light force eject molds. I have 1.5" dia ejector rods that came with the machine too. finally, i don't have a torque wrench :( But I should get one. Thanks for watching!
Amazing work as always served part of my Apprenticeship in the mold shop here in the uk…you need a bigger shop looks like a right nightmare chaining loading and clamping…not easy for 1 man with a manual crane as well…respect

Nice shop, nice equipment, however the most backward thinking on molding I have ever heard. 40+ years in the business and never heard so much crap that I have heard on your channel.
