Thanks for your interesting video. When is the best time of the year to plant rhubarb? Happy Holidays!

Thanks for watching Joan. Plant the roots in early spring when they are dormant. That's typically how catalogs and local nurseries sell them. If you get some from a friend, roots on mature plants can be divided in fall and planted.

@@foxruneec Thanks! Happy New Year!
My stalks are mostly thin and green. Rarely get thick and red. But get many stalks

Jocelyn do you know what variety you have? There are some that are green like Riverside. Otherwise, if it's an older plant it may need to be divided. Thanks for watching.
Do the stalks die 1st yeR too. My plants are huge and growing prolific - still no harvest ?

So in late fall, the entire plant will die back. The reason for not harvesting the first year is to actually support the root system. So the green leaves are feeding the plant. We want the plant to be strong to survive winter.
Need extended cold to grow. Unfortunately not where I now live

Does need some winter chill time - so not a deep south zone 9/10 plant

@@joanwood9480 That's good to know. I'm sad for you but you can grow some awesome plants I can't!
I need some info on what causes yellow orange spots on my leaves, that eventually turn into brown and then becomes a hole in the leaf.

Sounds like Leaf Spot which is a fungal disease. I would spray with neem oil. This is the one I use but you can often find it locally in places like Lowes or your local nursery. amzn.to/3R881DF

@@foxruneec I just got something with neem in it, hopefully that helps, the other possibility I’m thinking is I may have put out too much fertilizer, the spots are just a little small than a dime and I looks like someone is burning through the leaves with a lighter.

What do I feed rhubarb that I’m growing it hydroponically?

I have never grown rhubarb hydroponically so I don't know. I would imagine what you use for your other hydroponic crops. Thanks for watching.
