Peppers love to hold hands! I get so many when planted close together & always plant hot separate from mild. You are blessed to be able to plant them so late!

Glad you got some rain and it has cooled off some. When I got out of work today, it was 100 in the car. Later we got some rain, which is needed. I learned the hard way one year I planted hot peppers next to sweet pepper. That sweet pepper got so confused - some of the peppers were sweet while others on the same plant turned out hot. It was a surprise bite with them.

Beryl brought blessed rain to us as well. I wonder if the chickens would be happier in the coop if they had high perches in there? They obviously prefer to be higher up (little stinkers!😉)

Have you tried training your chickens to come to you using a food scoop with mealworms? I've got mine trained when I yell here chick chick, here chick chick, & when they here my call & see the food scoop they come running to me, & that's how I can get them into the coop. I tried training my guineas like that too, but that only worked sometimes, they are stubborn. Lol. I just love the sound of your creek flowing...so peaceful.

I love your Attitude towards your plants.. I have had great success with cucumbers, but a lot of other things not so much but I am still planting now and will plant again in August being that I live in Texas. I kind of have a long season but I love that you just keep going keep going and I feel the same way someone told me I should just give it up. I said no no and I’ve have gotten better this year. My bumper crop was the cucumbers, the pickling and the alpha bate .. I am Direct sewing so much and also doing ceilings as well.. I want a whole bed of peppers, but it’ll be next year. I have limited space on my little garden.

I bribe my chickens into the coop at night with treats..I won’t clip wings, they need them for protection..but we don’t have a tree issue. They just want to stay in the barn..which isn’t predator proof

Constance, I hope you were able to spray your beans before the rain. I had to pull 2 large Cosmo plants with flowers the other day. Most of the flowers were dull in color. I was going to dead head them. I really looked at the flowers and they weren't dull in color. They were wrapped in spider webbing thoroughly. Each flower, in a tight webbing. I'm not sure what type of spider did this, and wasn't going to let it destroy/wrap other flowers. I pulled both, and burned rhe plants. I'd never seen this before. I pray for a break with this extreme heat. We did get 2 days of off, and on rain. The rain was needed, were getting too dry, and we all are watching to make sure we don't have wild fires. Those chickens, the young ones are silly! Only if they realized what's roaming at night rhat is why you're gathering them.

Thankyou Constance. Great video for my Shabbat here in Australia! About those cwazy chooks... I read in a poultry article once, that some breeds of chicken have stronger ancient chicken genes than other breeds. Can't remember which now, but aside from it being eye-rollingly frustrating, that also makes them pretty hardy, which is a plus. And do they not realise that your job is merely to gather the eggs, not the actual chickens?!! I might have to come over there and give them one of my Stern Lectures!!! 😆 Might l suggest that pre-dusk would be a good time for treats to be served in the yard/pen? I use stale bread. It increases egg yield, and boy, do they come running when they hear that metal container! Whatever they Really Like...greens, grapes, diced old apple...🍇🍎🍞 Hope your boo-boo heals quickly. Two out of three of my facial injuries have been from playing with little ones...a black eye, and a broken nose... that's what tickling a toddler can get you! The third was a fat lip from a hammer slipping as l wacked in a tomato stake in the garden... That taught me to keep my mouth shut and my arms long when hammering awkwardly... actually pretty difficult! Praise God, no missing teeth!!! 😁 Love, hugs and prayers. Bev 😊❤️✝️🍞🐓🐔🌳

The chicks are too cute. I hatched 4 six weeks ago. They have been going in the pen with the others for the last three weeks. They only took a couple of nights to get the idea but catching them and putting them away was interesting for the first little bit. I lost one Friday night to what looked like a snake attack 😢. We have reinforced the holes with netting and seem to be doing okay. This and one of the roosters being mean seemed to cause them to stop going in the pen again for a few nights and we had to train all over again.

Normally it takes about 2 nights and then they figure out where to sleep. These ones are stubborn, LOL. Sorry to hear about your lost one :( we’ve never lost one to a snake, mainly foxes or hawks.

@CosmopolitanCornbread that has been my concern, hawks and raccoon. They have done really well. They have all their little spots they like to go hide under. I figured snake because we had lost quail previously in Florida that way. The snakes came in the garage and would start to swallow them. Until I started hunting and catching the snakes in the act we would wake up in the morning and find them dead with their necks stretched out and feathers slicked down. They would swallow them to the shoulders then have to push them back out because it was too big. The baby chick looked the same way.

Glad your creek and garden got water. We benefited from the rain as well, the wind was a bit scary (Im north of Houston a good ways). Your chickens are a mess, let me guess they are in the teenager phase :). is your dress linen? You have some linen skirts you shared before, but I do not remember where you got them. will you share that again please. Thanks!

Yes, the chickens are young, LOL. The striped dress I had on is indeed linen. That dress came from TJ Maxx. Most of my linen came from Etsy though. www.etsy.com/shop/LenokLINENcom and www.etsy.com/shop/Linenia are the two shops in particular. Most of my skirts came from the first shop, and many of my dresses came from the second shop. I do have several linen summer dresses and tops that came from Amazon. I think those are in my Amazon shop.
