Planting Out Leeks & A Thank You. Dave's Allotment Garden. July 2024
My leeks have been in the pot for so long now I think it's about time I got them into the ground so after work today that is what I did.
Whether they will grow or not is another question as I think I might have left it a little too late to get a harvest from them. Only time will tell.
Also I want to say a massive thank you to Richard who is one of my subscribers and has sent me a very thoughtful gift for my allotment.
If anyone would like to get in contact with me for any reason you can via my e mail address which is
geetdave@hotmail.com
Thanks for watching and as always thanks for commenting, liking and subscribing.
Cheers,
See you's on the next one

Great to see you getting back to your old self. I really enjoyed Every Rose Has a Thorn.
My leeks are in the same state.... the ground has been too wet to plant into. I trim the roots and the green tops to give them a fighting chance... bit of a blast from the past... 1988... Lovely gift there from Richard.... you see, a lot of people have you in their hearts..... strangers are friends you are yet to meet along the road....
Good looking leeks there Dave. It’s never too late to plant. At least that’s what they tell. E 😊lovely flowers too.
What a lovely gift from Richard. Dear Annie was also safely gathered in on the same day and year that my dear Mum was . ❤X
The leeks will be ok. All the flowers looking great. Lovely tribute to Annie 🐾
SNAP I'm only just putting my leeks in and thought the same as you 😊
Daves got his mo-jo back 😃😃😃 I wonder y? It's good to see dave, one the best channells I watch, stay well
Great gift from Richard, I buried one of our fur buddies yesterday, rip Lewis. He’s got a linden tree as a memorial over his grave.
looking well brother 💙
Great rendition Dave! Keep carrying on, you are doing just fine.
Another great video Dave. Good luck with the Council inspection.
That was nice of Richard to send Annie's plaque. A new guitar? Did council get back to you re your wildlife area?
Just a quick idea Dave would be interesting to see you film your local area perhaps showing walks with Michelle. Surprised you have not been offered an ebike yet 😊😊
I use a 12v water pump from a caravan , and a car battery with a switch, attach to a hose pipe and pump from the water butt, saves carrying water cans everywhere...
Your leeks look fine to me, you should certainly get a good tasty crop off them. My multi-sown leeks probably were probably sown earlier than yours, as they’re presently bigger by a margin, but mine are still in pots and won’t go in a bed until mid-August. Yours will get a jog on now that they’re in the ground and they’ll be big enough to harvest before mine, for sure. And I’m sowing another batch mid-July 😬
I was told by the old school lads to trim the roots a wee bit before dropping them in hole, and as you mention, don't fill the hole in with the soil. Perhaps this is what the old Sussex lads did when doing the leeks. Cheers for the update fella. 👍

@toopoos : Same here mate, i was taught to cut half the roots and half the tops, drop 'em in a hole, water and forget, so a few years back i did it with half my leeks and left the other half with full roots and tops, come harvest time there was no difference in size. I suppose you can do it both ways.
👍🏼
Leeks will do OK I think
Leeks will be fine mate.
Going to Kip Dave watch it tomorrow 👍👍

Summer never came this year.......
Leeks will be fine, you're only a couple of weeks behind the ideal time. Ask Popeye or Lister or Columbo.
Hi I've just bought a grape vine. Is your grape vine planted in the greenhouse or outside I've read abot online but some say plant in some say plant out and train in.
Don't you have a battery back up.?????????????????
