    Hi Amanda, As I recall you are in Texas. I'm in Windermere, Florida zone 9b. My Amaryllis are in pots and the ground. I have about 50 that multiplied from the original 5 bulbs. Other bulbs don't do as well in this heat and humidty. Your yard is really coming along. Your subscriptions are growing nicely👍💕👍

    I see this was uploaded may 1st. Asking when the video was made. If I remember correctly, I think you are in a warm climate. Today is March 19 in zone 6 and I am itching to try to plant these. I’m guessing it’s too early for me. The only thing i see here in flower are snow drops & some daffodils. Irises & tulips are starting to poke out the ground. Maybe I’ll scratch the itch JUST A LITTLE and plant 2 of each since so many come in a pack. And I’ll stake a cut milk container over top just for fun. WWOW YOUR SPIREA ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! What an inspiration! Thanks!!!

    I don’t do a lot of bulbs in my garden but I do have some I have trouble where I live growing bulbs I think one of the promises we don’t have any real winner here in California where I live never gets colder than 40° and that’s usually just one or two days a year most of the time it’s usually between 40 and 70° all winter long. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy thank you so much for such great information. Maybe next year maybe I’ll try growing bulbs again

  • @shesamadgardener

    Since it doesn’t get cold enough for long enough, you would need to plant “pre chilled” bulbs each year.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am new to gardening, one week ago I planted Gladiolus bulbs. I didn’t know the top or bottom. If I buried some upside down. Will they still grow or be a dud? I am just starting to see little tops poke through the dirt.

  • @shesamadgardener

    @shesamadgardener

    They will try to grow up, so if they are upside down, you might not get blooms or if you go, they might be lacking compared to the others that are planted correctly.

    Nice garden! Quick Liatris questions - planting them from the corms (bulbs) for the first time - 1) Is the "hairy" side, what looks like thin litter roots, the bottom? 2) how many inches deep should the bottom of the corm be placed from the surface of the soil? Looking forward to your other videos.

  • @shesamadgardener

    @shesamadgardener

    +Leigh A the bottom will have lots of little bumps and may have some thin roots … when I serious doubt, plant on its side and the bulbs can slightly correct itself over time. Plant 3 inches deep.

    @@shesamadgardener Thank you! I got some further guidance - I also just heard back that when you plant in pots, plant more shallowly for better drainage, so no deeper than 2 in., while planting in-ground should be deeper. The Blazing Star plants that we planted last summer we planted 5 in. deep and the stalks are already 4-5 in. tall.

    I was cleaning out a neglected garden this weekend that used to have gladiolus planted in it. We found a number of what I’m sure are gladiolus seedlings. The corms are about the size of a match head! Do you have any experience or tips for gladiolus seedlings?

  • @shesamadgardener

    @shesamadgardener

    Sure, each of those tiny bulbs will become a plant. It’s best to separate and move them in the fall, but if you want to do it now, I suggest dividing out the small bulbs planting them in small 4inch containers and caring for them until the plant gets about 6inches tall ... than transplant where you want them. They will not bloom their first year.
