Planting corn continues, trying some products.
Ойын-сауық
I went away from typical in furrow fertilizer a few years ago. it was having a hard time paying for itself. even if it gave a yield response, the response wasn't enough to make a profit.
Hopefully one of these two systems will be profitable

This is deffinitelly a year where proper soil structure matters. The guys who worked up the no till ground are sitting around waiting for the ground to dry out
We tried a new Peterson number this year. Really impressed with the emergence of it. Low ground this year has been really hard on emergence…
I can tell my soil structure is improving under no-till: I can find worms now where they were a challenge to see before. After last year (six week drought after planting, delayed emergence) I plant corn when I can, but not too early. Any time after the maple leaves are larger than mouse ears (old native american sign).
Good to see you
Rather worry about reseeding if drowned out later than having the fight of trying to get the seed into the wet mucky ground; don't wanna miss out on the good growing days since you know the water might shut off eventually.

Good point! The field is getting better. 3 inches of rain and almost zero puddles.
are the trenches closing in the wet ground? or did you change your closing wheels?

On each row I changed out one smooth wheel for a spiked wheel. The wet ground isn't a problem to get the trench closed the problem I had a hard time with was in the no-till sod
Curieus about that secret sauce

That's what I was thinking like holy crap how much seed has a guy handled to be able to pick a kernel out like that and identify it.
What's the story behind not using autosteer?
@Thegrim326

Why does he need it? You do know 80 years ago, none of that was a thing. Also, why waste money on something he really doesn't need?

I enjoy driving by hand. And believe it or not even with the front duals the tractor gets pulled side to side into the strips On the no-kill ground where I have nothing to follow then I'll turn it on. I think in a couple years I'll probably be back to using markers for no chill into grass or bean stubble
