Planting Bare Root Roses in our New Garden Beds ⭐️ Proven Winners and David Austin Rose Varieties

Thanks for growing with us!
We have so many roses to plant! Earlier this year we were sent some bare root roses from Proven Winners. They have been hanging out in grow bags while we waited on the weather to be favorable enough to plant. In this video we take you through how we plant 25 of them! We are also adding our first rambling rose to the garden. Malvern Hills by David Austin Roses is going on our pergola so we have a very interesting planting plan to seamlessly incorporate it in to the patio area.
We are also trying out a new retractable hose reel by VEGO Watering. Follow the link below and use this code for a discount! GROWFORMEGARDENING10%OFF

I cannot grow Proven Winners Oso Easy roses in my garden. I have tried 5 different varieties with the same results. After the roses are planted, they begin to go downhill. If I dig them up and plant them in pots, they rebound and do fine. I have two in pots right now, and I am calling it quits on the Oso Easy roses. This process has gone one for at least 4 years, so I have tried. I am disappointed that I cannot grow these pretty roses in my zone 8b garden. I live on the southeastern NC coast, and I think the soil has more salt than the PW roses can tolerate. I can grow knockout roses and drift roses without a problem, just not PW roses. I'll just enjoy yours on video.

It’s funny. Here in the U.K. we don’t really have the open spaces like u do in the back gardens like you do for the deer just to wander in. I assume there is a reason the fence doesn’t just go all around the entire garden to keep out deer and bunnies? Love seeing how different things are done in different countries.

The way I "ooooooo'ed" aloud along with both of you as the rock was washed clean 😂. I just planted 11 bare root roses in 5b Illinois, and it was relaxing to watch someone else doing the same work as I sipped my coffee. Stumbled on your channel recently and have been enjoying, thanks for sharing. My favorite perrenial companion to roses is gaura sparkling white - looks like whirling butterflies in the garden and blooms all year. I cover mine with leaf mulch in the fall and they all come back stronger the next season. I was watching a french real estate show once and there was a chateau that had hedging of gaura and boxwoods at its entrance gardens and it was stunning.

Good morning! Interesting video this morning showing the different planting techniques for the different roses. I love roses too, but have limited them in my garden due to the very humid summers we have in MD. Do you have any issues with black spot or fungus up in NY? Do you do any preventive care on your roses to try to avoid those issues (other than planting to encourage good air circulation).

We don't have issues with black spot for the most part. They have good air flow and most of our roses are newer plant breeding that are more resistant

you talk about compost instead of mulch and I like that Idea. How thick to you lay it and does it keep weeds down.

Same as bark mulch. We use the hula hoe to keep weeds down and it really works for us
