Plant Pots made from Recycled Plastic

Ойын-сауық

💚 A huge thank you to The Brotherhood: / brothersmake
♻️ Check out our recycled plastic store: www.brothersmake.com/shop
In this video we show you out process for how we make our 100% recycled plastic plant pots. Every product we make starts with a load of waste HDPE plastic. This plastic needs to be cleaned and de-labelled, before being cleaned. We then sort all the plastic by hand to make sure it's all the same type and into all the different colours. Then we can use our shredder ('Shreddy Krueger') to chomp all of this down into small flakes. These flakes are mixed into one of our custom colours and then fed into our injection moulding machine. They are heated up and injected into a custom made mould. Once cool you have yourself a beautiful recycled plastic plant pot! Literally turning TRASH into TREASURE.
We make lots of different items that we sell on our website and Etsy store (links below). If you like what we do and the products we make, we'd love you to place an order. We ship worldwide, with free postage anywhere in the UK. Every product you buy enables us to keep saving waste plastic for a bit longer, which technically means you're saving the world! You superheroes!
All of the machines and moulds you see us using in this video we bought from Plastic Preneur. If you want to take your recycling to the next level, we can't recommend these machines enough. Not only are the machines incredibly well built, the customer support is second-to-none! Check out what they're all about at www.plasticpreneur.com/

Friendly reminder that I'd love to see if you guys could experiment with trying to make patterns. For example; techniques similar to making polymer clay canes and/or segmented wood canes such as those used for woodturning pens. I'm a jeweller and I've been experimenting with making HDPE jewellery but I've been struggling to make patterns, especially perfectly straight stripes. Stripes always end up warping on me. It'd be super cool to see if you could make Stripes, checkerboard, polka dots and more etc. It'd also be really cool if you can make aluminium molds for injection but also for pressing (for those who can't afford the extra equipment). Thanks, Keep it up!

I visited your website and I'm so very glad you mentioned companies and individuals who are merely "greenwashing" to create more profit/sales/support/social credibility. There is an awful lot of this going on, more than most people realise. The best and, in my opinion, only way that is *currently* effective in reducing our individual environmental degradation and destruction of our finite resources is reducing our personal consumption habits and abstaining from the modern, culturally-ingrained, throwaway mentality. You guys are doing it, and encouraging it in others, and that is why you got my subscription today.

  • @BrothersMake

    3 жыл бұрын

Yeah absolutely, we brand all of our products with the HDPE mark so that it can be recycled again. There is a limit if you keep recycling the same 100g of plastic over and over as it will start to lose some of its working properties. Lots of companies will cut it with virgin plastic claiming it’s still recycled but we've found if we cut it with some of our shreddings then it works really well. 👍🏼

Your videos are great, I’m big on upcycle plastic and make flowers from plastic bottles, but I normal have plastic lids and bits left over and hate binning it, as I know it’s bad from the environment and now I have a way of upcycle all of it. Thank you

I am incredibly impressed at what you guys are doing. What a gift those students have in you gentlemen. What I would love to see is you taking the recyclables to another level if you already have not and build a small scale play house for a small child. Say a 5-8 year old with beams formed with small steal heavy gauged wire for structural support (maybe a ladder configuration of steal wire embedded in the plastic beam for rigidity) that might allow for a two story play house. Joists, trusses and framing for all parts of the inner walls floor and roof. Use recycled styrofoam for insulation and plastic terra cotta roof tiles. Basically built a simple small scale home or playhouse to prove the concept of a home totally made from recyclables. Except instead of using some hippie concept with walls made from tires and dirt or mortar and glass bottles to let light in like some nomad in the New Mexico Desert. Make the recyclables like a normal conceptualized home we would see like a Cape Cod style with all formed plastic beams siding or even logs.(Like the guy in California who makes authentic looking wood logs out of plastic recycled milk jugs.) Then if you want to get more attention use it to prove the concept structurally to engineers or auction it off to the highest bidder to get something for it. The point is to make it the first fully recycled Play Doll House scaled for a small child functional that looks real. If you could prove that can be done, a company could scale up to move this toward a viable home building process of building a move in structurally sound live in home. Think of what you could teach your kids. You would get venture capital pouring in and people saying why the hell are we throwing this all away? You are making beautiful planter pots. Why not prove homes could be made from garbage and start the real engine for people to create build and motivate others to think about their garbage another way. Elon musk does not have to be the innovator of everything. I conceptualized solar shingles 35 years ago with a paper in college. My professor said 'B-'. Great idea it will never work. You cannot manufacture a solar cell cheap enough. And yet here we are. What if people started seeing garbage as a real way to help the lost souls without purpose, the impoverished without shelter or the the unemployed. The only sticking point is getting the manufacturing down to a process of efficiency. That is it. You move the facilities to the garbage. I have seen portable equipment in cargo containers that could be moved onsite. This may be a long shot and a pipe dream but the more I see guys doing things like you are doing with bottle tops the more I think it can be done. You are probably wondering about labor. I have that figured out. I have seen what you can do with a single beam. Benches and planter pots are great and useful but what if garbage could truly change the world. What if there was no garbage only recyclables. What if everything could be converted to something of use and value? I believe it can and I think you do to. If you ever want to contact me I would be happy to talk to you live. I too am a teacher with a different medium and audience. external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse3.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOVP.drtqs74xqUHGURVQ2su77AHgFo%26pid%3DApi&f=1 kzread.info/dash/bejne/lZ-L07RqeqeXZZs.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/rIJ719eMe6iXoLw.html if you would like to talk further please let me know.

Very much fun to watch! Plastic bottle tops are not the greatest plastic polluters, though, as they are often recycled when collected at centres. It's the one-use plastic bags and soft packaging (like, candy-bars, chips bags, but also styrofoam) that are the great unrecyclables. I'd LOVE some ideas as to how to handle those!
