Planet Crafter Tips 2 - Total Automation with Drones
Ойындар
Automation just got way better with the introduction of drones so let's have another look at automating everything with even less effort.
Planet Crafter is an early access, first person, space, survival, crafting game. You have been sentenced to terraform a planet for the crimes that you have committed.

Ah, it took me about 1:46 minutes (incl intro and such) to get the grasp how the automation with bots works, just from this/that little show and tell up to 1 minute 45 second-ish. (I was mainly out to see how to "start with it" and this solved lke 95% of my questions right off the bat)

I'm glad I was able to help.
Good video. Here is a drone trick for fisheggs. Shredders can be set to demand so set drones to put plankton in there and eggs in lockers. have to click the shredder button manually tho.

Cool, thanks
The one thing I also set up is a loot drop area where the drones would then take the items I brought back and move them to the appropriate storage in the warehouse.

That was one thing I left out. You could put loot containers in remote locations and set them to supply everything with a high priority. However, by the time to get to that point, most of the loot will have already been collected.

@@surtrplays That's true. But I do find, as I work on the base or whatever, my backpack fills up and instead of putting everything back myself, I just dump the extra items in the loot containers and let the drones put everything back.
When you shread the bee larva you should put the fertaliser and the mutigen in your locker storage, saves having to produce it.

Absolutely.
That’s a fantastic set up.

Thanks Gavin.
This was very helpful. I think your setup is ingenious! Any thoughts on setting the priorities? Thanks.

Glad it was helpful! Priorities only become important if you are demanding an item from more than one location. Then you need to decide which location is the most critical. Alternatively you could just overproduce. Also it might be an idea to set a higher priority for mines, that are closer to the base to reduce the load on the drones, if you have more than one mine producing the same resource in different locations. For example if you are closer to one of the uranium areas but you have mines at both. Rather pick up from the closer one first.
Is there any way to automate picking up algae ? Maybe I'm missing something, but I grew really tired of manually cutting those underwater.

Auto-crafters can grab algae and later you can use drones.
I kinda prefer *not* to automate, because it leaves me nothing to do while I wait for the Ti to crawl up, despite having a large number of every type of machine and 20 of each multiplier rocket in orbit.

I am going to need to check how this plays into a new playthrough. I am sure there will be more stuff coming out in updates that will keep you busy. I took a slow and steady approach to this playthrough so it worked out. Now I have the materials to put up loads of machines for Ti. It might not be quite like that when starting fresh.

@@surtrplays I started fresh for this playthrough, and built up slowly (for non-game related reasons). This let me pace the rate of new tech with gameplay and it worked out pretty well. Obviously the progress to amphibians is at a snail's pace, but I am still producing new fish farms, T5 pressure miners and so on.

Excellent. I will be starting a new playthrough but not for a while. A new game is coming out on Friday and I have been waiting over a year for it. That is going to take up all of my time for at least a few weeks.
