I hope it's significantly more user-friendly. The old pathing system killed my enjoyment of the Planet games.

best would be "fill with path" after just using a new path tool to outline a desired shape for the plazas. may they also considered certain assets like the swimming pools, shops and buildings having their shape already path-compatible.
@Nando_175
Ай бұрын
I agree! The pathing definitely made me rage close planet zoo many many times!!
Hopefully the queues will be more realistic too, incase we want to use a cattle pen/zig zag/switchback style line. That way the fencing and pathing doesn't gap resulting in us having to use scenery flooring and custom fencing for the realism. Hopefully I explained this correctly!
@krabgrass
Ай бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. I've always found Planet Coaster's path and queue system to be very janky, buggy and hard to use. It's one of the things that need a rework in Planet Coaster 2 apart from the staff management which also needs a major rework.
One thing that I'm mostly curious about is the question if objects all have collisions. Meaning you can place a stone on a path and people will actually not walk through it; that would make this game next level cool
@RudiRennkamel
Ай бұрын
I think that's a thing with planters for example
@MrCow579
Ай бұрын
@@RudiRennkamel true! I just hope all objects have this so we can truly decorate with immersion! Imagine the buildings we can make for the guests to walk through
@Sini-Haapanen

If everything will have collisions, I wish it will have a toggle similar to how climbing is possible to turn off/on in Planet Zoo. Because having everything track for collisions constantly regardless of need would be a huge hit to performance.
@MrCow579

@@Sini-Haapanen true, would be a good one!
Also, that last raised platform in the final screenshot was a waterslide loading area. You can see the yellow slide on it, but the slide kind of blends into the flat ride in the foreground.
Almost looks to me like the new paths will be brushed onto surfaces to get shapes like that. Or maybe even the path curb is just a editable spline. Like, paths defined the same way that habitat areas are in planzoo. It makes sense too with parkgoers being able to wander freely on habitat terrain now.
Might sound boring but hoping for realistic park entrances.. car parking, coach stops etc etc. no more random caves that everyone emerges from 🙏
Pathing has always been a pain in planco hopefully this helps fill gaps and gives more flexibility for access to areas. I hope they do something with the outer edges of the park as i have always felt that the emptyness sort of spoilt the look of some parks, maybe an adjustable boundry as i feel some parks look lost on the map.
Do water parks really have all these pools where people just swim around in them? The water parks I go to usually only have one pool like this and it usually incorporates other fun things like a crossing obstacle course. The slides usually just end in a part of the slide filled with water rather than a whole huge pool. Also, where are the shallow/wading pools, beach areas, splash pads, etc.? I'm just hoping to see more fun things for my guests to do instead of just swim in multiple big pools. At the very least, I hope I can make a pool that's just dedicated to being the splash down zone for the slide rather than having 20 other people in it just swimming around.
I loved the OG Planet Coaster, but I had my gripes with it and have stopped playing a while ago as my general interest in amusement parks died down. The announcement of Planet Coaster 2 has me excited for this type of game again
I think the only way to achieve these sorts of plaza and paths in pc2 will be a simple path outline like in pc1 but with the option to hit a fill button and there you have it a full plaza. This seams the most logical solution. I hope this is the way as it will be so easy to create fantastic builds that are realistic.
Okay I discovered something very very interesting. What I want you to do is pause and go to 21:35. Now zoom in towards the coaster station, see the 2 entrances? I think that this can only mean we get either single-rider queues, better priority-lines and/or separate queues for disabled guests! What do y’all think about that? I’m very very excited for whatever it may be!
@RudiRennkamel
21 күн бұрын
I actually confirmed this already in my day 1 video :) I saw it in the demo too, it must be some sort of single rider as there were also 2 entrances at the path side

@@RudiRennkameloh okay thanks!
I Think we are in for a lot of surprises with Planet Coaster 2. It looks like you may be able to just plop pools or whatever into the paths and it becomes a barrier or something for the guest to go around or use. Great video as always. Be safe, until next time. -George.
I'd love walk in pools, with a shallow and a deep end, like a beach
I wonder if those tower staircases for the slides will be like how you could do it in RCT3 Soaked. You just had a scalable spiral stair that you could raise to the level of the loading area for slides and it was its own entity.
At the 22 minute Mark with that raised platform, it's for a slide. You can see the yellow slide going down, and then when you zoom out, you can see water that's underneath it.
amazing details and insights as always, thank you rudi! ♥
I hope we can choose to have the railing on either side of the paths and not just on both sides.
I feel liike the edge of the pool/slow river gets an automatic pathway, which you can then expand with the path tool. What you marked in green also looks like an outline of sorts, and you are able to 'fill' the interior to become a path too (or plaza in this case)
2 words - elevator and escalator but other then that. It would be nice if we could just drop a spiral staircase or ramp in the middle of a plaza or existing path. Current pathing relies on snapping to path ends or sides. The reason I say this is because we will want to build useable bridges over the lazy river. to customize the islands for shops/bars or lounging space. If not then they need to, at the very least. Give us a lazy river piece with a walkable bridge attached for park guest Also Tunnel.
Not only do I hope the pathing has been fixed but also the terrain manipulation as well. The terrain tool needs some serious work
@RudiRennkamel
27 күн бұрын
Path I agree, but the terrain tool is by far the best in any game I have ever tested.
The paths definetely can be joined together and shaped better, this is evident in the screens. However, the elevated platform in the first screen and the stair in the second, this is a huge speculative stretch. I wouldn't expect that. There's no elevated platforms (to walk) anywhere in no screens. And the stairs most probably is part of the ride itself and connect the waiting line to it.
@RudiRennkamel
Ай бұрын
But it looked in the demo 100% like that. There was a second non-themed tower where the stairs were even more visible
I hope there is a way to run a park without entrance fee at every attraction. This is not usual for european parks.
The pathing probably works buy wrapping around items you place inn the center of it. Or, uses sizeable shaped that punches holes indie paths.
@RudiRennkamel

Which I would totally love already

I hope its more like a cleaner version of planet zoo's traversible area. Guests dont climb (maybe they do now ladders for slides?);or have any crazy walking animations so I imagine it would easier than all those animals and much smoother than the hell that is PZ/PC pathing
If you think in terms of the shape of a path, it will have an irregular shape, but I feel that if you designate a "place that is not a path" and consider the masked remainder to be a path, it will be valid even if it results in an irregular shape. However, I do not know if it is possible for characters to recognize paths in such a way and simulate random routes to rides.
Don't know if you saw it, but when you're zoomed in talking about the diamond shaped area on the paths that was a different color, but look at the Surf coaster. There's a really nice line of "don't die" fence surrounding the coaster that isn't right on the path. I wonder if we are getting a proper fence tool in PC2.
its so obvious the pathing system will use Nodes like how you make a district or surfaces in Cities Skylines 2. @17:46 you can see an empty gap shaped like a trapezoid next to the Wooden fence and small gaps leading upto it
@RudiRennkamel
Ай бұрын
no its not obvious, because we just don´t know. Its the sole reason why i made the video. i went into the available material (as I dont have the demo we were shown) and tried to find things I saw in there too. Its just the stuff we have, and I made that clear. So i compared it to the system we know. I am very curious to see what it will be, and how stable it is. The point here was to find elements, that I wasn´t able to reconstruct.
I hope that the content of the first generation (such as the large pendulum, bouncing tower, 4D roller coaster, and other existing amusement facilities) can appear in the second generation!!
20:44 looks like the path is glitching through, you might be right that it’s more of a painted on texture rudi 22:16 that’s a platform for the body slide
Technically some of these paths were "possible" in Planco 1 but only by using bugs, and it was heavily dependent on RNG. I remember the first time I played Planco I tried to make a large round plaza with a teacups ride in the middle and it looked like absolute garbage. Hour 1 of my playtime and I already wanted the path tool to at least snap to the border of a flatride.
Do I see two separate entries connected to the rollercoaster station in that last screenshot? Looks like two entries on one side, and then on the other side is the exit. Can't wait to find out more about all the changes and new features
@RudiRennkamel
Ай бұрын
Yes! it must be a single rider lane. Its not 100% confirmed, but I also saw it in the demo multiple times :)
At 5:00. I doubt the stairs will be able to be build like that for a slide manually. I think what you'll have to do is like when you hold shift to raise a coaster up, and it automatically builds supports under it. For the water slides it'd likely be like that, but with stairs automatically generating instead.
Let's also look at what all this means for planet zoo 2: it means fully aquatic animals, better pathing system in that game as well just like all other technical upgrades! I'm hyped for PZ2 already
@MagicMonkey96
Ай бұрын
Planet Zoo 2 is 100% getting aquariums now
I am certain that both the giftshop and interactive animal areas were introduced so Frontier could bug test new pathing + having guests leave paths for interactives like pools.
I think it's going to be an edge and fill function for pathing. You place the edges in a free form line and it fills the area with path.
Could this be as great as you draw a path edge and it auto-fills in?
I just hope they give the option to remove curbs on elevated paths and queues only 1m wide
The old pathing system in planet zoo and planet coaster was so ANNOYING To have to put up barriers everywhere and to make plazas was just such a task
Very detailed and excelent analysis. Thank you Rudi. I'm hyped.

:)
I don’t know what the system is, but I really hope there is a fill tool for the path to get rid of the holes. But who knows? Maybe there won’t be holes in the paths to fill
Was anything mentioned about paths being flexi-coloured? I think it would be so brilliant to change the feel of an area in a big way.
With the addition of waterparks I was wondering if we might be getting pieces to do coaster tunnels underwater. Did you happen to see anything like that during the closed showing of footage? If you can't say do to nda I understand. Just wondering as it would be an awesome feature!
It makes me wonder if there will be some way of creating the outline of your path and just using a tool to "fill" in the rest?
Proper stair cases is such a win!
Imagine if if you could simply draw the paths in Planet Coaster 2 and if there will be a "path autofill" between objects. Hype Hype Hype
Since the console version can easily be 100% restricted, I hope more solutions can be thought of. For example, you can choose to permanently combine some materials and can no longer separate them to reduce the computing burden; or you can choose to make some facilities lose their functionality and only serve as a visual illusion for players.
I can remember building a very complex path plaza with multiple directions and someday I mustve accidentally deleted it. As I did not notice it I could not restore it.
I have wasted so many hours trying to get paths right. Here's to improvement. Also wanted, let me toggle building floors to set them to be "paths" as well. That would save much frustration.
i need more of these videos, rudi

The staircase in the second screenshot looks identical to the coaster stairs prop pieces from Planco1, including the railing. I hope they are usable in Planco2 but they could still just be scenery :(
I hope they have changed how the stations are so we can more unique and custom stations

So far I believe they might just have offical 'fake' paths where you draw out the actual path people use once you make the fake frame.
Is there going to be any backwards compatibility with the first game? What about all the other themes? Pirate, spooky, studio, adventure, etc?
That big leafy tree in front of the rivver sign is a Caryota Gigas, do we have that in Planet Zoo?

I wonder if pathing is going to be similar to creating habitats in planet zoo and it fills the middle in with a path 🤔
I’m hoping it uses lines and points. In other words make any 2D shape on the ground and then make it a path entity if that makes any sense.
Wird Zeit das die auch mal Shows ins Spiel bringen 😍

Great content buddy! Keep it up!! So excited for this.
I'm wondering if there is a "plaza" system that works similarly to how Cities Skylines 2 paints districts and farm fields.
I think now that Planco2 is around the corner, its time that you reach 100K subs😁
I just want them to give us the option to align scenery/ buildings to paths.
I'm very happy about the possibility of water parks but much less about the graphics in general...It seems identical to PlanCo1, perhaps more rendered. But above all, why do the characters always have a cartoonish face?
Thank you so much.

Between pathing and alleged coaster smoothing fixes, makes you wonder if they found a much more creative way to implement AI into the building systems.

I really hope more features are available for Xbox, as last game you could not do half the things pc could do, it was very annoying
I'm sorry, but I'm confused as to why the stairs are being talked about as something you can't do in Planco 1. You can totally do that pretty easily. I just booted up the game and tried it to make sure. You can even make the right angles on the landings by switching to grid-based for those flat areas.
instead of eating the preview apart, when are we going to see the actual pre-alpha real time game play and tools?? The release is around the corner! Seems crazy we aren't in full blown game play review mode! I know... .It's just a game. But, in this age, we all need anything we can get to keep us looking forward to 'fun' stuff.
