It's funny how Dusty want's to show everyone that he can fly despite being a crop duster, however at the end, they give him a ton of upgrades, so it kinda defeats the purpose of the moral...

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with paper airplanes. I made a story about a plane who couldn't race because he was broken (I made his "body" weightier than his wings), and an old mysterious mentor plane who taught him a new way of flying (I refolded him into a new type of plane). So at the age of 9-11, I nearly predicted the plot of planes.

One thing I noticed was that in the Cars 2 credits, Mc Queen and Mater travel to India, the Taj Mahal is in the shape of an old car. In planes it is like it is in real life. I smell bad planning!

From the Planes: Fire & Rescue trailer, it looks like the animation has greatly improved. However, the biggest challenge is the story and characters. Hopefully that will be improved as well.

I honestly thought Planes and its sequel is a masterpiece... When your kidnapper offers to play it while you wait for them to finish cutting off your arm.

If Planes was put on dvd, it would be like Foodfight, but not as painful to watch.

Rather than repeat the old, retired racer character like we saw with Hudson, Skipper is famous for a different reason: he is a war hero. Unlike Hudson who was forcibly retired after his accident, Skipper made the conscious choice to never fly again after seeing his squadron gunned down during the war. In a sense, I feel it builds upon the world more by showing there is more to the world than racing, and there have been wars in the past.

I love the animation of the Tinkerbell movies so much that I was immersed into Pixie Hollow. Yet Planes is clearly trying to copy Cars so badly, especially with the artstyle.

I mate not be a Cars fan or even a Pixar fan, but I am still more open minded to see this and I will. Maybe I will be in for a hard time, but still, wish me luck...

planes is basically ripping off cars: Lightning McQueen-Dusty Doc Hudson-Skipper Chick Hicks-Ripslinger Francesco Bernouli-Chupacabra But the character Planes is spinning off the most is Dusty's tow truck friend who is an exact replica of Mater, but without the accent.

I'm a hardcore Cars fan and Cars is one of my all time favorite films. I should've been watching this movie when it came out. But after seeing Cars 2 on TV and how much it pissed me off, I never bothered watching Planes because Cars 2 pissed me off.

+AutumnIsACabbage Same thing happened with Earth to Echo. I went to NYC the same weekend HTTYD2 came out (I don't thing it made a dime in the city that day, though). Everywhere, the taxis had either an Earth to Echo ad, or some x-rated bar. Somehow, there weren't any ads for Broadway on any of them, but Earth to Echo was the ONLY MOVIE ADVERTIZED BY THE TAXIS THAT WEEKEND!

At least Lightning McQueen had a sort of twist to his character trope. He's already a stylish racer, but an unfriendly person who needs to learn that compassion is more respectful than a trophy

Turbo steals Cars' concept. Planes steals Turbo's concept. Doesn't feel too good... Does it Turbo?

Just like the Despicable Me 2 review, I wasn't expecting Sonic music at the end of the video. Sonic's appearing more often in the vids I watch now.

This film's animation was made by Prana Studios in India.

I know this joke has been done before, but: Disney should make a Trains movie so their franchise could be called "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"

Much like Dusty Crophopper, this movie was way out of its league. Unlike Dusty, however, it didn't pull to the front of the pack in the end. While this is by no means a great movie, it is cute enough for what it is and at the very least it's harmless (something I cannot say for some other animated movies out there). It didn't warrant a theatrical release, but if it stayed a direct-to-dvd, it would have been one of the better Disney sequels (though being better than Lady & the Tramp 2 is hardly an accomplishment).

You know what plot Turbo and Planes sorta copied... The Little Cars by VIDEO BRINQUEDO!!!!!!!!!!

I remember when this movie first came out I was excited for it (I was 11 or 12 years old at the time) since as a child, I was huge into the Cars franchise. I pleaded my mom to take me and she ended up doing so. Even as a diehard cars fan, I didn’t care for this movie and haven’t seen it in years. And to this day, I haven’t bothered with the sequel although I might watch it one day down the road.

They don't just think of the profit, they also think of the animation and how pretty looking they can be.

IRYO, but I think the story needs to be remade from the ground up. Here’s how my story would go: Dusty Crophopper, a young fashioned crop duster has dreams of flying higher than any of his kind had ever flown, but is nervous of heights, because he doesn’t get up much. It gets worse as one day, while attempting to reach the clouds, He is mistaken for a racer and forced into the race. Skipper shows up and helps Dusty gain the confidence to try something new in life. So in my version, Dusty isn’t a speeder, but rather a plane who wishes to fly as high as the big jets, but is forced into a competition.

Cars:I actually enjoyed it Cars 2:Meh Planes:I rather watch Cars 2 Cars 3:Please don't be crap

are you going to do planes fire and rescue? it actually looks sort of improved. maybe it won't tell the same recycled story. but it still doesn't look funny at all. it looks dumb. i agree with you on the movie. i was watching it at a younger friends house. it was so boring i left in the first 20 minutes.

I Disagree with this review because I simply loved this movie! I love Cars, Cars 2, and This Movie. Although very predictable and nothing new it was a very well told story with great voice acting, Great animation, and Great 3D! I really really liked this review but still disagree with your problems with the film. Its no pixar film but it was pretty close in my eyes.

While the plot might be a typical underdog story, you cannot deny that the movie does build upon the world of Cars a bit more. Outside of cashing in on the original, I feel that it is important for a sequel to expand on the franchise and universe that it is based on. In a sense, that is what Planes did from what I've read. I have not seen the movie, but the fact Skipper is not a copy-and-paste of Doc Hudson is indeed a good grace this movie possesses.

Iam am a major cars fan. I love both cars and cars 2 but I don't like planes and I say it deserves the seal of garbage but still Disney is an awesome studio who releases awesome films and rarely releases movies like this...
