Probably THE best plane-spotting video I’ve seen at RIC! Awesome zoom footage…and the best part - it included radio transmission audio! SUBSCRIBED!

I was watching an episode of the Walton's and this airport was mentioned. I had to look it up. 🙂

Awesome video! How do you pan record so smoothly? It your camera on a tri-pod? My recording whenever I'm zoomed really far in is never stable.

A tripod with a nice fluid head is a must for smooth pans. And even so, the technique could still use some improvements.

@@henryburke1979 I use the Manfrotto 502AH. I first tried to go cheap with a no name tripod from Amazon but that did not work out very well. So I kept the sticks and swapped out the head for the Manfrotto and it's night and day. A lot of performance for a decent price.
Quick question we’re can I find the Atc of Richmond

Unfortunately RIC is not available on LiveATC.net. So I have a scanner with me when I shoot there.
Are you allowed to watch planes at that location where your standing.

The spot in the last half of the video is where most people stop to watch. It is along East Side Ln. just off of Williamsburg Rd. It is possible that the Airport Police may come by to check. But they are usually friendly to plane spotters and allow people to stay.
Where are located near the airport?
