PLANARIA WORMS IN AQUARIUM - NO-Planaria WORKS!!!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Welcome! In this video we're going to talk about as well as use some No-Planaria to battle a planaria worm issue I've been struggling to resolve. I've tried the traps, I've tried adding fish that will eat them up, and now I've resorted to adding some NO-Planaria to battle these critters once and for all so I can start setting up my Caridina Shrimp Tanks!
Planaria are small worms that live in aquariums as well as bodies of water such as rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds, etc. In fish only tanks, they're actually a good thing to have as they clean up waste in the aquarium as well as offer a food source for fish. That being said, in a shrimp tank, they are your WORST enemy! These little guys attach to shrimps bellies/abdomens and gradually eat them from the inside out leaving a shrimp molt shell behind. Large shrimp don't have many issues with planaria as they can usually kick them off or escape but baby shrimp will be attacked immediately causing a detrimental impact to breeding shrimp.
Planaria have a triangular shaped head making them easy to distinguish between other types of worms found in aquariums.
NO-Planaria is an additive used to eliminate planaria from your aquarium without causing any harm to shrimp, plants, or fish. With this simple additive, within 72 hours, typically, you've wiped 99% of the planaria population. Planaria traps can be used as well to increase the odds on getting rid of as many, if not all of the planaria in one swift motion.
Make sure to remove any snails as NO-planaria can be detrimental to snails in the same fashion as planaria. Could also be used to wipe out a snail population if necessary. Some snails will be ok, but lets just assume thats not the case, and remove any snails you would like to keep, JUST TO BE SAFE!
After treatment is complete, follow with a large gravel vac to remove any planaria carcasses from your substate to avoid ammonia spikes. Monitor for future treatments as needed until planaria population is completely eradicated from your aquarium.

Fluval bug bites gives your tanks planaria. A short time after I purchased three different varieties and feeding them to certain tanks those tanks had outbreaks of planaria. I’m here now relaying a test I done with six twelve litre tanks with four receiving three products of fluval bug bites. Their tropical formula medium/large grain tropical formula small grain and bottom feeder formula. Those four tanks that had fluval products after three months had planaria. The other two were fed with what I was using before and nothing other than seed shrimp visible. Now I could’ve made a first time purchase of something and one if not all three items were a bad batch but I won’t be using those products again or testing to see which one. My experience and advice on fluval bug bites is don’t use it unless you’re ok with planaria. Having to get rid of them got rid of much of the other beneficial micro life which I could luckily reintroduce from other tanks through water and items sat in a healthy matured tank being moved to the the nuked tank. For eradication I used another method I use for complete annihilation in quarantine tanks and that was panacur c dog dewormer in powder form. Before that it was copper which would’nt have been able to go in anything with shrimp and fish. Panacur c can also avoid harming snails at low doses too. Partly why I use it over other products I’ve never tried for reasons such as what I’m saying right now.

Fortunately I never had this problem with bug bites. Mine were directly linked to a plant supplier. Luckily I caught it before it caused issues. In my fish only tanks that I feed TONS of big bites I never found planaria.

I would do half dose. That should solve it. Make sure you change the water after completing treatment. Also make sure you keep an eye on the tank and remove any of the molts you see as well for 2-4 weeks just to ensure that no baby scutariella eggs get spread. Check for molts a few times a day to ensure you’re getting rid of all their eggs.

It’s def toxic to snails, it killed a bunch of ramshorn snails in my tank, but it didn’t kill nearly all of them. They stopped dying within a few days of the treatment. I only did a partial water change in the interim due to evaporative loss. The planaria however, were eradicated. The only disasters I’ve come across using no-planaria are people who overdose. I used mechanical traps in the past, and while you catch plenty, you’re fighting a losing battle. Planarians reproduce in every way imaginable and they infest every part of your tank even throughout the substrate. The only way I’ve found to truly eliminate them safely is this stuff. If you accidentally OD, put your carbon filter back in and make sure you use the spoon in the bag for dosing.

I think it depends on if you have wood and your filter size and media type. The stuff lingers and must soak into those items. I nuked a 55 with standard dosing and even after 4 full water changes over 2 months it kept murdering the good snails I added. For me I think it was the driftwood and some porous media. I'm about to do it again but will be keeping the filter off during the process.

I never did add them back in that exact setup. I removed the shrimp. Quarantined them in a separate tank. Same with the snails. Quarantined the plants with planaria traps to catch any leftovers. Put most the plants in my platy tank so they’d just eat all the planaria. Removed losses as needed that were already infested with planaria. Cleaned entire tank. Replaced filters and everything else in there and re introduced all the survivors .
