this is one of my proudest songs to date, recorded in a scrappy one-take demo just to get the idea across. it took me six months to write and came in pieces. the chorus reached me on a bus ride in hawaii, as i thought about the planets and how strange it is that venus, the supposed planet of love, is also the planet that's burning in such apocalyptic fashion. the rest of the verses filled themselves out over time. but my absolute favourite moment is the bridge, where i get to scream out the lyrics for all they're worth. i love this song. it might not reach everybody in the same way. but i love it nonetheless.
