@@haha-vf2lk it’s been deleted from their official YT channel too. Only thing I can think of is maybe they’ve had a change of heart about it? I know Brian was really reluctant to release this song even as a b side because ppl were saying it was misogynistic. Funny that this has happened after over 20 years since it’s release though. So sudden.

@@headfullofhyenas it's so weird because like i always thought of it as 'oh this is a song in the pov of a (verbally) abusive boyfriend...' and never once thought I should be liking the person singing these things while still enjoying this absolute bop. Like I never thought 'this song is misogynistic' i thought 'the bf in this song is a f*cking prick' aha...I'll miss this song being on spotify so bad.

Placebo frontman Brian Molko poses as a tortured chauvinist on “Slackerbitch” (1996). In 1997, he said the lyrics are “quite horrible… an exploration into someone’s misogyny. This man in the song feels very threatened by women, but at the same time, it’s very heartfelt. It’s angry and nasty and insulting and completely politically incorrect. I’m not afraid to say I’ve felt some of those things. It walks a very fine line, and it’s dangerous.” Before it was released, the band played the tune to several women to gauge their reaction on its misogynistic tone, but the only people who found it offensive were men. Molko explained : “I think the point a lot of people would miss is that you’re not supposed to like the guy in the song. He’s a fool.” Despite receiving positive feedback from female listeners, Placebo decided to leave the track off the 1996 LP “Placebo” and to release it as the B-side to their breakthrough single “Nancy Boy” (1996). Placebo made me realise, that I'm not so special and one of a kind when it comes to feelings caused by break-ups and constant insecurity, and I'm really glad for this. May I be a psycho, but at least I'm not the only one:)
