Doc, Is it required that I complete my one-year internship at a hospital affiliated with my university? Because of COVID-19 restrictions in China, Chinese medical students are required to complete their one-year internship in another country. The question now is whether GMC will deny our applications for plab. Please, shed some light on this. Thank you.

I am currently interning in India, will appear for PLAB sooner rather than later with an ambition of becoming a general surgeon. Will be looking forward to more such videos.

Don’t think getting surgery is possible through plab. Almost impossible for IMGs .

Doctor, have doubt,could you please clear it .. My medical school is who approved,but the sponsor note tab is empty in who site...if sponsor note tab is empty it means that graduate from that med school can't apply for USMLE so does that mean the person can't apply for plab too.??

Good evening Dr. Monisha, I had a question abt internship to be done before PLAB, in order to write the PLAB, I studied medicine in the Philippines, and over here we first do the internship, and then write medical licensing exam, to work as a doctor and go for specialization. But since I'm planning to PLAB, Is it okay if I do internship in Philippines, but not do the medical licensing exam?, is that considered valid when they ask for internship 🤔

Hello. I am in 5th year of medicine. Ukraine has a 6year medicine program.I had to come back due to the ongoing war. Ukraine continues to conduct classes online. Will I be allowed to sit for Plab if last 2 years of my mbbs are online?( I will compensate lack of clinical training by joining the u.k foundation programme) I just want to know if they will allow me to sit for plab.

Please check GMC website for information on dates. That website is your best bet when it comes to updated information on dates and things. You anyway would be booking your exam via GMC website.

Information must be online regarding fees. Not too sure how much these academies charge.. but duration would be 2 weeks of the course (mostly). Along with 2-3 weeks of mocks. Plus I would suggest you practice for a few weeks.

The core training, speciality training, would be held in the same hospital or do we have to undergo training in different hospitals?

Every trust has multiple hospitals under it in the same catchment area. Smaller towns end up having one big hospital. Benefit of training in bigger cities is more patient exposure, more sub speciality teams you get exposed to and better learning opportunities in general.

You could join a group on Facebook called PLAB. A lot of study material is on it in files section. You could alternatively ask people there as a lot has changed since I gave the exam 3+ years back.

Hi sis. I do have one doubt do any college from India are eligible to give plab exam after mbbs. Becoz for usmle only those colleges which are named in ecfmg and world health organization list are eligible.

There isn’t much information out regarding UKMLA except for the bit I said in the video. As PLAB is still being conducted. Hopefully in 2 years time they will release more information.

The process of becoming a consultant has got nothing to do with royal college exams. You need to do core training and then speciality training to becomes a consultant. Also, they don’t recognise post graduation from other countries here for you to become a consultant. For you to be a consultant here you need to train here. You could be a middle grade doctor here if you have trained outside. Or apply for CESR pathway to become a consultant. It’s a long explanation, I will make further videos later. In the meanwhile GMC website has all answers to your queries. Feel free to check.

Like I am an Indian, I did my mbbs from China and cleared my license exam which is FMGE, and want to set out for plab is it possible? Every speciality has a different application process. Within every speciality training again there are various exams, competencies that you need to achieve.

From what I'm aware of, gaps won't influence your GMC registration as long as you provide a reasonable explanation (and the pandemic is as reasonable as it gets)

I have done my residency in ophthalmology in India..Now i have to move to Ireland..is there any way to put practice in Ireland what is the procedure we need to go through or what are the exams i need to clear
