    I believe that color mask icons are using the wrong color space (CIEh vs H). Try running them against an actual color wheel image. Please tell me I'm wrong. Take a look at Adam Block's video on the PixInsight ColorMask Script fix.

    Hey Brian! - The tools linked in this video are updated already if you need to redownload, but I do have an updated version of the tools from Bill that I'm about to upload to replace the original files from the first "colour mask" video where they were released :-) Hope that helps!

    Thank you for this tutorial! With it, I was able to reprocess one of my old images of the Horsehead and Flame nebulas and I was very impressed with the results. One note for anybody else following it along, a recent update to PI removed the platesolving functions from PCC, so you'll probably need to use Script > Image Analysis > Image Solver prior to using PCC or the new SPCC.

  • @lukomatico
    @lukomatico Жыл бұрын

    UPDATE - Since the new PixInsight update the "PCC" step starting at 6:07 in the video should be skipped and replaced instead with "process > colour calibration > background neutralization" first, and then "process > colour calibration > colour calibration" running both of these at defaults should be fine - then apply a fresh STF stretch & if needed, a final SCNR (drag and drop should be fine) - skip to 7:30 in the video and continue 🙂 Sorry for any confusion this has caused people! Alternatively, if you have the fantastic RC astro tools then this newer video of mine would be preferable to follow now :-) it can be applied to many targets, not just galaxies. kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2yqq8WJk5Swl84.html

I simply can’t believe the many subtleties I’ve been missing! In fact, I’m sure I’ll be watching this more than once. I don't think that I fully understood this the first time around. Wow... what a difference! Hey there! :-) Thanks so much for taking a look at my tutorial, and for leaving a great question too! RE: Your question - There's no special reason for my usage of PCC before ABE/DBE other than force of habit - it's apparently best to use PCC as early into processing as you can, but I see no issue in leaving it till after your background extraction is complete :-) I hope that answers it for you! Clear skies

    @@lukomatico thanks for your reply! After what you mentioned, I tried running some tests and it looks like the results were pretty much the same down to the single pixel, so it really comes down to personal preference after all :)

    Hi Luke, I started following along, and downloaded the M45 image and the set of tools that you have links for here. The drag and drop of the M45 image worked fine, but the tool package didn't appear when I dragged that over, so I wasn't able to get your tools. Is there an issue with it, because I followed along exactly?

    Hey Steven! They are probably just loaded into another workspace, - if you try to load everything in again but when the tools don't appear instead right click & arrange all icons, that should bring them into view 👍 Good luck!
