Low light photos and all video seems to be a decent amount better on the Pixel 6. The dogs at 3:30 or even the indoor video of you at 5:29 definitely look better. Of course both phones still have a very similar style, but I think in this case the evolution rather than revolution is probably a good thing considering that at least in photos the Pixel line was already very well regarded.

Thank you for the comparison, I was looking for one between this phones on KZread and, this one is the first I found! I notice a little bit of improvement on the video and the new features but, that's about it... A bit disappointed with Google for missing the 4k on the front camera, if only the will put it, I think it'll be worth the upgrade between the 5 and 6...

There are some minor differences in photos but nothing too major. The video is definitely improved. The average consumer probably doesn’t care as much as the technical individual. Thanks for the comparison Daniel. Hope you been enjoying NYC.

That's the thing Pixel 5 is just perfect size in every way, so gutted about it, as I was looking forward to get the 6 but now is just not worth it as the improvements also very minimal.

great video, keeping my Pixel 5, sent back my Pixel 6 Pro, waiting for Pixel 7. Plus this way I will continue to get free unlimited picture uploads with my P5.

Yeah me too I also like the fact that I Don't have to worry about dropping the pixel 5 and it shattering into pieces. Plastic and aluminum hard to break plus I use a case.

@@Nicoledt0623 i had it for a year. Battery life is as good as my Pixel 6, easy 8hrs sot daily with android 11 but android 12 is not as battery saving but nonetheless the battery is still good

I am so happy somebody did a video on this. I have a 4A and still not a ton of difference but I'm deciding to upgrade anyways with the hell lol.

I have a 4a as well, but the 5a and 4a use the same main camera and there shouldn't be any differences. That said, I found the pixel 6 to be a little more saturated than the 5a but handled skies and low light situations better

Good Morning Daniel from Philadelphia, you posted the make or break video for me so I again thank you. I bought the 5a in August when it launched I've had it for a little over 2 months now. I was waiting for the camera department video but everyone I've seen is comparing the 5a to the 6pro and not just the 6 itself which is annoying. Comparing a 450 to 899 cmon. As someone who doesn't care about tensor or snapdragon and doesn't do hardcore gaming I'm sticking to my 5a. The cameras are so close in different aspects. It's hard to justify unless you care about the things I mentioned above then the 6 is a set. Thank you for being the first to compare the base 6 against the 5a in the camera department. You must replace what most pixel users care about over others or the consumer in general.

Are you able to take multiple pictures quicker on the 6? Is the delay between shots shorter now? Is the performance really better with Tensor? Are loadings quicker than before? What about the selfie camera? Does it compare to Apple (who seems to me that they have the better one, especially videowise)? How are the speakers? Would you say they're twice as loud on the 6? Wondering if all this is worth trading in my Pixel 5 to get the Pixel 6 with free buds for 350$ usd. Thank you.

They have the perfect line up. The Pixel 5a is the SE of Android devices. The Pixel 6 is going after the Chinese flagships like OnePlus, Xiaomi Etc. The pro is going after the Samsungs flagships and the other flagships around. Personally I don't think Apple and Android can compete with each other is two different animals now. Regular people can't survive without IMessage even if android has a better offering.

It looks like they fixed the jello effect that happens in the background that has been around for a while. At least in this example. Where if you move around, the background moves also (near you). You can notice at around 4:53 the table moves around a bit in the background with the 5a when you move, but it's fine on the Pixel 6.

Great video. I have the Pixel 5(not 5a)and the trade in makes the pixel 6 $220. After seeing those camera differences.. very little difference. If I was going straight by the camera I'd probably not upgrade.

I like pixels for portraits of people

So glad I went with the 5a. Yeah the 6's sensor gives better low light photos and video, but I paid like ~$100 for the 5a after trade-in

Pixel 6 is slightly better I think. The only thing I don't like about the Pixel 6 (and Pro) is how the main camera sometimes oversaturates the colors too much or makes it look to vibrant. It's mainly noticeable on daytime video in certain scenarios, but also on pictures sometimes. The sky and leaves on 1:05 for instance. Hopefully Google can balance that out a bit more.

I skimmed through the video and didn't see a zoom comparison of the max zoom conparison. Did I miss it?

please do the exact same comparion in 1, 2 or 3 months to see how the software has improved :D

The differences are minimal, but I think there is a crucial difference between the videos that is being overlooked my many. The biggest problem of filming with my Pixel 3XL has always been the grain within the video. The Pixel 6 reduces that grain (with dimensioning results as the light source decreases). While it isn't as great a jump as I'd hoped, it is nice to see there is a definite improvement over the past models. It's understandable why they would struggle in low light because low light = less data, but Apples camera's illustrate how they should be able to apply a different process to improve it. I wonder whether Google actually uses a different approach in low light or if it's just the same process, magnified (which seems like a bad approach).

I don't know why but the front camera on my Pixel 6 (received yesterday) is significantly worse than my Pixel 3. It's very grainy in the viewfinder (more than what I'm typically used to on a Pixel), and pictures look over processed, with all auto enhancements off. My skin tone was very ashy, more pale and my boyfriend's was way darker despite decent room lighting. I'm really hoping they fix this with the Day 1 update or at least by the end of the month. Camera wise, my Pixel 3 just seems to perform much better (which might make sense from an ML perspective).

Should I keep my 5a which I like? I ordered the 6 but have a window to cancel. Let me know ASAP! Plan was to sell the 5a on eBay along with the free earbuds I would get with the 6 and pretty much break even. Cameras don't matter that much to me. I consume a lot of videos.

I found if you compare facial pics the 5a stands out with a more realistic capture. The 6 tends to make faces take on a more reddish hue which comes off as plastic looking, especially in portrait mode. Even with scenery at dusk there is a noticeable red shift with the 6 compared to the 5a. With no real difference in cameras I'm actually sending my 6 back for a second 5a.

At 2:01 you can see how much better 4 year old sony sensor is compared to Samsung one in pixel 6. 5a captured the menu that was blurred out in 6.

Pixel 6 has better quality but the software is still buggy.

Honestly i think the 5a has more of a color pop. And in most scenarios, they are almost identical. But personally i really like how the 5a filters the colors i feel like it looks better.

Battery test need for pixel 5a and pixel6

Wait for a couple camera updates to see how good it can be by optimizing the software to the new hardware!

The Sony sensor that the Pixel 5a uses is quite good and in certain situations. Pixel 5a win, I wonder. Why did Google switch from Sony censorship to Samsung

Pixel 6 just seems to be a tiny bit better overall. Specially in the lowlight vid but it does struggle a lot with edge detection, hope some future updates fix this

Getting my 5a today have had a 3a that now is biting the big one. The p6 is way to bulky plus the hiccups that is expected with the new sensor makes me not want to spend the money on it just yet

The video is definitely better on the 6. The photos look to have a less drastic differences although I'd say the pixel 6 probably has better color.

The sky on the 5a (video) never looks blue. It's the same with all the A series based on what I can see. Other than that it's pretty comparable but they are obviously boosting brightness on the 6. At least that's what I can tell from your videos. The 5a was just on sale for $400 and the 6 won't ever reach that so it's $150 decision at the end of the day.

The area looks like Jersey City, NJ are you from that area?

Using the Pixel 6 right now and I still have my pixel 5a. I'm thinking of sending my pixel 6 back. Battery life is terrible and I've turned off just about everything that could drain it. Even setup my pixel 6 to stay on 4G LTE and it still drains fast. Camera gets hot whenever I start to take pics, so that's no good. I think Google didn't understand and test how much the Tensor chip consumes battery life thoroughly. The first security update didn't really do anything. I was hoping it would help with the battery just a little bit but it didn't.

I think the difference between Pixel 6 and Pixel 5a in other areas still justify its price difference, such as the larger screen size, more premium design and most importantly, its new chips. I don't think it is worthy of upgrade from Pixel 5, but it is still one of the best phone at its price. I do hope the camera to improve in the future, and I personally believe those could be achieved with more reliable and consistent imaging processing model.

not in my case .where, once my 4a got soaked in my pocket due to rain and gradually the charging port was not responding to charger hence got 5a which I'm feeling ok but front cam should be bette6

IMO pixel 6 for sure have upgraded the video quality but not the photos. P5a still better in potrait mode. It's color is more punchy..still like a pixel photos & edge detection is better. I don't know P6 somehow lose it this time. In daylight P6 photos looks so plain in colors & not eye catching but I admit night photos in P6 is a little bit better.

Love my 5a it's still recent and less expensive than the 6. Save a lot of money getting something slightly older

I notice the difference in every shot. And then it devolves for a long time into portable lighting. Now, that’s a whole interesting subject in itself, but the video doesn’t say it’s about lightning, so it becomes way too much a waste of time. So, thumbs down for veering wildly off-course, though I have no problem with the information itself.

so what google has done is they've still not made a difference in photos since the pixel 2 😂

he is right, when people are gonna find out what kind of low mid range phone is, they will stop buying it and it's gonna go on sale

Just cancelled my order after watching this. I wasn't too sure about the phone with the camera bump but thought it would be worth it for photographs that were noticeably better. But they don't look like it's worth it, think I prefer keeping a smaller phone to be honest

Unless you pixel peep and in difficult lighting condition, the improvement of Pixel 6 over 5a is not obvious.

Pixel 5a is better for portrait mode

Pixel 5/5G is going to have a cult following like the Pixel 2 XL did. Perfect phone and size. Ive owned 4 different Pixel's but nothing compares to those 2.. I think I'm going to pass on the 6.

The thing is camera in P6 will very much improve over time with tensor. Whatever tricks Google might have store for Pixel 7 & 8 will definitely reach Pixel 6 not the older models. Just like the exceptional dual exposure Live HDR and video stabilisation modes aren't found in models till Pixel 3. With Google what we get is very good but over the time it will become excellent. When I first bought Pixel 1 XL the camera was very good for 2016. After 2 years when they introduced night sight and other updates that phone got a new lease of life and the camera quality was excellent. I used it till last year and it gave my Note 10+ a run for its money. So I'm going back to Pixel line with P6 pro 512gb and I think it'll serve me for another 4 years.

The 5a is amazing for the price
