It's impressive that S21 Ultra ... ultrawide still holds up so well. Pixel 6 Pro noise reduction is really something - on one shot it's just perfect, on others, even in full light, it's all over the place. I managed to snap two photos today, it's really late, haven't got time to properly test it. But I took a photo of my dog in fairly low light and I must say, I was impressed by the detail (without night mode). Can't wait for a day off, when I plan to properly test it and hopefully snap an astrophotography pic as well.

Google Pixel has really improved their video quality. I like the Pixel 6 pro.

It's unreal how well the Pixel 6 Pro did compared to the Samsung. Not really surprised though because the Pixel has always been the camera 👑

Man the hdr on both devices are phenomenal, they are very similar.

@curio Dude you are so behind the times if you think hardware binning is a thing on Pixels. Just look at its lineage. The RAW images are mint. The sensors are perfectly capable and the telescopic zoom is sufficient to do what it needs. The software just needs updates and if you know Google, those are coming. Just sit tight and watch yourself be proved completely wrong.

Google Pixel 6 Pro has best color hue, contrast and show actual realistic colors in all modes , while Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has more Zooming and MP for more image clarity, I think I will choose Google Pixel 6 Pro over Samsung Galaxy S21 pro for the reason of good and realistic color contrast especially in low lights.

I would have loved to see a comparison between Pixel 6 Pro 10x optical + digital Zoom and S21 Ultra 10x optical Zoom.

I guess these Pixel 6 and 6 PRO will be at the top of smartphone cameras as soon as they get some software updates. It's only going to be difficult in the video where I think Iphone will take the crown for now

Thanks for posting pix, I'm interested in these, particularly telephoto (normal shots look great) Any links to same power telephoto from camera site (like dpreview?) I see 10x sam vs 4 x pixel, not fair to pix, how about 10x vs 10x? (people think Sam has 10x optical, it doesn't. It has worthless 100x digital) Or did I miss your 10x vs 10x?

I wonder why you didn't use enhanced audio when it was windy for the pixel.

Texture, dynamic range, color accuracy and highlight control goes to pixel..

I think you should have also provided 10* digital zoom pictures of the Pixel. In some scenarios they should be even better, cause in low light the S21Ultra crops from the main sensor. I would almost never recommend using the full resolution of the S21U on the main camera and on the front, because you lose a lot of dynamic range and you introduce digital noise in low light. Pixel binning is better in most scenes.

Only thing I want to ask is when I take selfie on pixel 6 pro when viewing it then it goes dark. Why?

It's such a hard choice to choose between these 2 devices. I prefer the pixel for all the face photos regardless of the camera used which is realistically what I'll want quality in the most. But video quality sucks on the pixel when you're moving it. I love the zoom on the s21 ultra which would be amazing when combined with video. I'll very rarely use that feature, but when I do, it will be important to have the quality and that will be for shots I'll want to keep until my kids are adults and they'll want to see the footage. If I had steadier hands, I'd probably be fine with the pixel. Do I sacrifice quality recordings that I'll want to keep for a long time? Or lower quality photos for faces? The extra features of the pixel would be amazing as well... But Samsung have such well polished devices, it's a tough one.

Great comparison. However with one UI 4.0 coming out, I heard the camera has had significant improvements. Also, a lot of those Samsung photos could have looked the same as the pixel 6 pro if you reduce the light intake in the night shots. But for a straight shooter comparison in most cases I like the pixel better. But I think you could achieve the same results with a little tinkering on the s21 but it all depends on patience.

S21 ultra is better overall in my opinion, but for the money the 6 pro is a good choice

I had the S21Ultra for a long time However, I exchanged for the Pixel 6 because it was just too big and too heavy for me. Now you think the Pixel 6 is not much smaller, but it is actually a clear difference in the hand.Overall, the S21 Ultra has many options and it would also book most of the points. However, the pictures with the main camera on the Pixel 6 are really much better.Really clear and actually in all areas. Noise, colors, details, speed of the trigger.Etc. software is also pretty cool but here and there a little Buggy. I really prefer to use the Pixel 6 and sold the S21 Ultra for good money.

I'm coming form a Pixel 2 and honestly, these don't look all that different. Gonna say S21 looks better though except for that one blurry night time selfie.

Really!? 😅. Pixel 6 pro is miles ahead in video quality and much better in photography from previus models, and a bit overall better than S21 ultra in my opinion.

You should have taken 20x with the pixel. I bet you will be shocked. The quality is as good as 20x on s21 ultra with it's 10x lens, even better sometimes. It's crazy how good the digital 20x computational shot from pixel is. But man,, that hdr shadow exposure on pixel is just amazing in every hdr shot

You should have zoomed in further on the pixel 6 pro telephoto so we could compare them

I also have a question... How do you change aperture on the s21: ultra when shooting in pro? When zooming it only goes up to 10 which is cool but I noticed. Whether zooming or not my shots using 1.8 which the quality is horrible when zooming on the camera at 1.8. when shooting auto it will take the same shot in aperture of 4 or 2.2 or something. Quality difference really noticable. Auto way better cause of this. Oh yeah and you can't use 108mp in pro mode either or am I missing something in the settings

Like most smartphones, these cameras have fixed apertures (few exceptions are new Sony Pro-I and Samsung offered this at one time). IIRC Pro mode is not supported for the zoom camera's so probably that's digital zoom. Hopefully they will expand Pro to the zoom camera with next S22 Ultra.

Hard choice for me. I love the camera quality of the Pixel but I love feature rich software on One UI… :(

Very tight comparison. In some scenarios, the Pixel seemed to have washed out photos while perfect tones in others. Kind of a draw in my opinion.

You just don't get it. Your video wouldn't tell anyone which phone takes a better picture. You simply demonstarted the different camera modes of each phone.

I had the S21Ultra 9 months And I took various photos and of course tested it every day. It's a great device with a great zoom and a cool Macromodus....But in the end the main camera counts 90% and there the Pixel 6 is simply better in all respects. It Hardly rushes, not even in less good light. It makes a lot less mistakes in processing, the colors are usually a bit more natural.In the end, the device for half the price is much better for the main camera.I can only recommend testing it. If there were a point list, the S21ULTRA would probably win 20:10. 2xZoom, macromodus, 120 Hz, QHD, pen input, etc. etc. But in the end Are the points with the Pixel 6 much more important to me!Main camera significantly better, lighter, more "compact", Ingenious software, half price ...... So I sold the S21Ultra and stayed with the Pixel 6.

If I can make a suggestion, why don´t you put a 10x photo/video of pixel 6 pro alongside the s21 ultra 10x for comparison? Don't need to stick to the 4x in pixel 6 pro.

Low light frontal camera video looks better in the s21 ultra to me, less noise and more detail in your face than pixel 6 pro. Great video, hope that google fix the portrait mode.

I think it depends on what you want your pictures to look like out of camera, because there's a pretty big difference. Pixel 6 pro would be my choice. I think the skin tones in portrait shots are more realistic in the pixel 6 (they appear washed out in the Galaxy S21). I also think the Pixel 6 pro handles highlights better- Highlights appear blown out in some photos and videos with the Galaxy S21 ultra. If you like a more saturated look in your photos right out of camera, then the Galax S21 will give you that (you can always add saturation and or vibrance in post later)- to me, the skies appear oversaturated and unnatural looking in the Galaxy S21. The photos appear slightly sharper right out of camera in the Galaxy S21 (again the photo can be sharpened to your taste in post with the pixel 6).

I agree with you. Also take into account the telephoto lens and the zoom capabilities though. S21 has a better ultra wide and much better zoom capabilities than the pixel pro. To me, that's a deal break for the pixel as the age quality falls apart.

I also can see that the Pixel Pro looks like it corrects brightness and makes shadows much less pronounced. In theory, it's good to see more of the picture, but it isn't accurate in the real world. Great cameras on both phones, but both have drawbacks

Great comparison, thanks. It seems 10x zoom in S21U was done many times as a crop from the main sensor. I don’t like software decisions, we should have a control over lenses at least in Pro mode.

The 10x zoom is not a crop on the main sensor. It is an optical periscope lens system.

at 10:43 i think you accidentally showed the main camera on the s21 twice instead of the ultrawide lens. oops But i just made my own comparison video showcasing the pixel 6 against the pixel 2 and 5 if anyone is curious to see those results. Pixel 2 held its own even today.

In photo they are neck to neck but video front and back absolutely ultra is better Night time photo I give to 6pro.. ultra wide and portrait go to 21 ultra... Well 21ulra is still the best and hard to beat...

I'm really disappointed as pixel 6 pro owner. It's charging a max of 17w until 90 %. After 90-97 6w and to 97-100 % 3w. Used lux meter to test it. Pixel 6 pro charging temperature is very low during the charge. Never hit more than 30. Full charge taking 2h and 1 min. Tried a charger from google store and anker 30w charger. Results are the same and yes the adaptive battery is off. Google hardcoded software limitations to allow max of 17w fast charge. And you need a PPS supported charger. Others will charge at 5w

My oneplus does something similar charges 0-50 in 30mins once it reaches 50 it goes up by 1%every minute until it hits 90 then after 90 it goes up 1% every 2mins so total charge time is about 1hour 30minutes

Both devices is great. Even sometimes pixel 6pro is better then S21Ultra. But S21Ultra is periscope zoom and IP67 standart. My next phone will be S21Ultra.

Why do I think the S21U has better photos than s22U? The s22, from the multiple videos that i have seen, has produced photos with a magenta tint, or something too warm. Same with the night photos, either too warm, or too grainy and noisy, or too soft. It feels like a downgrade. The only gripe i've seen with the s21 is the face smoothening. I'm planning to buy and I'm thinking between s21u, s22+, or pixel6p.

For me pixel 6 pro is better with skin ton, dinamic range, highlight control, night mode is a totally beast better than s21 ultra, less lens flare than samsung, selfie way way better with natural skin ton, telephoto on pixel is amazing. The things i don't like about pixel, ultrawide with less quality than samsung and night so much noise when turn night mode change drastically way better picture, some photos samsung have more dinamic range. Main sensor samsung cannot beat pixel. Good google you play with the big boys again. Best regards And have a nice day.

Without night mode the Pixel is definitely better in low light, but with night mode the Galaxy is as good. Considering everything I find the Galaxy to be better overall, with more dynamic range and more zoom. I really do like the Pixel look though!

Difference between both camera performance is very marginal. I think it depends on personal preference. Pixel 6 pro is not significantly better than what was hyped about it.

I own the Samsung S21 ultra and I love it a lot. My question is is it worth switching to a pure Google phone the pixel 6 pro from the Samsung S21 ultra, which has a lot of superior things that pixel. As someone who's had both... The pixel camera is much better at handling moving subjects. If you take a lot of photos of your kids/pets etc. The pixel is so much better it's not even close. Sure with a still scene they're both the same tbh.

The pixel looked hazy to me in a lot of pictures. Surprised how much better the s21 was in comparison. Maybe with some software updates, things will change. Not a very good ultra wide on pixel either. Watched this review on a 75inch tv, maybe I will watch on a smaller screen cause I am not getting the pixel looks better comments.

Great video. Maybe it's just me but i don't think pixel improved as much as they were hyping us for. Of course there is difference from previous generations. But all this talk about new sensor and cameras allowing 150% light , and still Iphone 11 from 2019 has 4k60 on front and back cameras.....

This was definitely a tighter race between Samsung and Pixel to me than your iPhone comparison. I think it was very obvious how whitewashed iPhone did a lot of things, especially your family's faces. You do see that beauty enhancement in the Samsung ones as well, just not as aggressive but they still do blend a lot of things to include losing out on the freckles of your children. But I do feel that this is a much closer race, probably has a lot to do with the technologies being shared between the two companies. I bounce back and forth on certain things but it's also negligible to me in this. Thanks for sharing this for us again!

Loved my pixel 2 and 3. They blew every other camera out of the water and still do today but these shots.... The 21 is either on par or stylistically better. I feel like reviewers are giving pixel a pass because they're so excited about the new design and cameras. Samsung is doing better in some cases or hanging with it. From what I've seen in so many videos.
