my imaginary friend was a liver spotted Dalmatian called Dolly. I had Dalmatians of my own but when my parents divorced we couldn't keep them, so they moved in with my grandfather. I missed my own Dalmatians that I came up with my own.

I think plush toys can be the same thing as imaginary friends. You still project a personality into them, so it's like your imaginary friend has a tangible avatar.

nice work Issac I believe he isn't gone aswell he lives on in Riley's memories and 👻 I had imaginary friends once I imagined lion king characters Vitani and Kiara from the movie (them as adults) in my head and they would always comfort me when I was sad and give me good advise Call me stupid or silly but they were great company especially having no friends growing up and always being alone they were my best friends they may not have been real but they kept me from loneliness and from being lonely :)

Your theories always made me rethink of the disney movies I've seen. And just like you stated Riley's imaginary friend isn't completely gone, with the love and bond they both share. I think Bingbong went to another aspect of Riley's mind. Like a forgotten section in the human mind. Just because its forgotten doesn't mean it's gone for good... Unless you're an amnesiac. Perhaps a trigger of one of their activities would affect Riley's memories of her time with her imaginary friend.

I was really shocked by this theory! You did a great job issac! But I just can’t seem to believe it. When something is forgotten, it’s forgotten forever. I used to have an imaginary friend named Hill. And I forgot about him. Until one day when my mother brought him up, now I know he existed, but I can’t remember anything but that. Because I forget him. I forgot everything, even what he looked like. I think if Riley’s parents brought up Bing Bong, she might remember something about him. But still. This was a great theory!

Like everything in our mind, memories don't disappear for good, they are stored somewhere waiting to be activated at the right moment. I'm 100% sure that Ryley only needs to see one of her early drawings, or interact with small children (e g her own) in order to activate the memory of bingbong

Never really had a true imaginary friend, but I used to pretend to roller skate or bicycle through Toon Town (the clean version from the Disney Channel, not the scary one from Roger Rabbit ^_^0) I love this theory. I remember both my and my youngest brother crying like little girls when Bing Bong "died". This theory totally makes sense: if there are still memories of Riley playing with Bing Bong, maybe that means he's not completely gone! Supposedly a sequel is in the works, so maybe Joy may encounter him in the revived Imagination Land here!

I guess it's kind of interesting. I've always been in a constant state of daydreaming and imagination throughout the day, especially as a child (nowadays I have to set it aside for real world things) but I never had one specific, collective "imaginary friend." I've tried to create imaginary friends, but obviously these things don't happen on command. I've always found it interesting and amusing, to be honest. I used to create entire worlds in my head, full of people, creatures, places, etc, but never had one individual "friend" in amidst all of it.

I don't remember ever having an invisible friend when I was little, but Bing Bong's death was SO emotional to me that I began to wonder If maybe I actually had a Bing Bong of my own as a child. The fact that I felt such a sense of loss means that part of my childhood friend still lives within me. Thank you for this. :)

Bing Bong is still there, somewhere. If Riley has kids when she grows up and these kids have an imaginary friend, maybe she’ll tell them that she, too had one when she was little. It’s like telling kids you believed in Boogie Men when you were little (the Boogie Man in my house lived in the basement bathroom. I refused to go down there unless I had friends over).

Rather than a single friend, I would usually imagine situations. And stories that would involve different faceless imaginary people. They didn't really have names or looked a certain way. I just knew what kind of feelings they had and how they would react to whatever storyline I put them in.

My imaginary friend was named....Friend. Just friend....i didn't know very many names as a kid so the name Friend just stuck.

i think bing bong took the memories for HIMSELF BECAUSE he knew HE was going to fade away too & HE at least wanted to remember RILEY because he didnt know where HE would go when he faded away :( im an adult, and watching bing bong fade away, while raising 3 boys, still makes me cry for the "loss of innocence" that i KNOW MY kids will someday lose as well after the world gets them down and tells them to change who they are just to "fit in" :(

I never had an imaginary friend. I do have a snake named Charlie. I once had an idea of making a cartoon about him but I had to change that to make a storyline back in 2010. Now the storylines I made are still in my other computer. I only watch those after I complete a project.
