Think how the cities would look if we had the right kind of education... a Wall Street level business education. Buy for a nickle, sell for a dime, minimize the overhead to 3 cents...the 2 cents left over representing a 40% pre-tax return on the investment of the original nickel...increase the velocity, fast turnover...then you could afford to buy property and dress it up and charge rent for it, or just put it on the market for sale. The property wouldn't sit idle long enough to rot. We'd run out of properties and have to expand...invade other neighborhoods economically like they do in Israel.

Pittsburgh was once a great looking city and now the blighted neighborhoods, garbage and abandoned houses that need torn down are a fixture in these hoods. The people that are responsible for doing something about this doesn't care, they want afro americans to live in poverty while they build the parts of the city to make people from out of town move here, but they don't see the real Pittsburgh until they live here for a while or something bad happens to them. Pittsburgh was always a beautiful city, when they took away the projects, and people were spread all over they didn't foresee people moving away and giving up their businesses and their homes to leave or relocate leaving the used to be prominent neighborhoods to be neglected so that crime and poverty would prevail. Pittsburgh, do better!

De-industrialized what other result can you expect? The middle-class was targeted, screwed, and robbed.

more like Frankenstein ave. shit looks like a horror movie.
U need to find some footage of what it was like before drugs took over. Some news or TV footage of some kind from the 60s. Then go find that neighborhood and show it today. That would really make people understand how far it has dropped.

It's crazy after the people go how nature takes it back

I’m a big traveler and any city has the hood . I’ve been to Pittsburgh and most of it is very beautiful with big old homes. Even in the hood the homes are mostly brick. I’m sure at one time it was a very nice place .
I live an hour and a half away from Pittsburgh. I've been through many of the places. In your time there, how would you compare it to other cities you have been to? Also did you stop at a sheetz? Love them.

I used to live in Homewood in the 80s, I remember some of these streets, but I thought for sure they had changed since then, I recently moved back to Pittsburgh and I ride through on occasion and this is not what I see lately.
When I came back from the ATL 😞...it was so depressing. Everything was so grey!!!! Then I started Uber Eats and I saw the difference (of course) between rich and poor. Certain hoods I don't go to because of the street conditions.
I love old brick roads. Have some here in Chicago. Some in ok parts of Southside

I recently moved to Pittsburgh and I drove through Mckees Rocks not knowing anything about it. Made me look up Pittsburgh hoods on youtube. Nasty place. I used to live in AZ and its funny how the ghettos in Tuscon look so similar.
Ran across the Detroit gas station vid & ended up seeing u stopped through my city. Glad u did this 1 in the daytime cause it can get sketchy if u here at night on during the summertime. People know who's who round the area & notice u quick if u aint & think u either on some bullshit or a fed.

Pittsburgh has actually come a long way in the past decade. Areas such as Lawrenceville are now trendy up and coming areas. However it is very inconsistent block to block. Brand new homes next to crumbling abandoned ones.

The whole time you were driving I didn't see any major chain stores in the hoods. Where are the supermarkets?
I was born and raised in Edgewood but a lot of my family lived on Lenora Street. don't remember it looking so impovrished. Seems people don't even pick up trash in their yards. i left in 1974 for the Army and retired in '94 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I cant say say I miss Pgh. but I like visiting. Clean it up people.
