PITSFORD RESERVOIR, My best days trout fishing EVER!! Beautiful 6lb 8oz Brown Trout.

Спорт

Pitsford reservoir BEST DAY EVER! last week! I set out hoping to catch a big Brown trout and wasn't disappointed, I caught a HUGE over wintered fish. The hardest fighting fish I have ever caught on fly gear, I thought I had hooked a submarine. I also managed to catch some great Rainbow trout to make for my best day out on a reservoir to date. A white shrimp with gold beaded head did the trick, long leader fished slow on a floating line.

Nice one Simon, you could not have timed that better. Getting that practice on the reel before that amazing brown. I felt so much more confident that you were on the reel. And watching you using your hand as an extra brake. Its not that all fish have to be on the reel, but getting use to switching when need be. Spot on mate. Well done you. Oh thanks for the shout out. Shaun.

Nice one Simon. I think this is the same with any fisherman mate. Once the big fish is landed the energy and enthusiam double,s regardless if you are tired because you've fished all day. Well done cracking brown 💪

Cracking fish Simon and richly deserved. One of the big differences between small still waters and big reservoirs is there is a greater chance of getting overwintered fish. Ps. I'm with Shaun with playing the fish on the reel where possible. However, where barbless hooks are being used it's important to keep an even pressure to avoid fish slipping the hook. There are many who claim that this is easier when you are not playing them on the reel.

  • @SLSFishing

Thanks David 👍. I get what you mean if your barbless fishing as when reeling the spare line in the rod tip certainly bounces a lot which could chuck a hook. I will be sure to adapt accordingly 👍👍

@@SLSFishing biggest brown I've had was about 4 pounds so I can imagine how that went, have you caught a blue or a tiger trout? I've only had one tiger so far. Had a few blues. Your line looks nice and straight with no coils. I never play fish off the reel but whichever works for you stick with it. Personal preference I'd say. Do you have a slow sinking intermediate for on the boat?

I have still to catch a Tiger, Blue or Spartic. None of the waters I fish have them that I know so will have to find somewhere not too far away that does.

Eyebrook is a different chain... its with Draycott and Thornton... but they are all great waters... never fished Pitsford but will definitely give it a go after your video... I'd like to suggest you to try Elinor Trout fishery... it's not as big as Grafham or any other res but it does provide a great days spot...

Hi Bob, I fished, all of aw waters, with the exception of Pitsford, how does it compare to Grafham, in terms of depth, fighting fish etc, on a personal note, Iam a small water man. One man's meat and all that. Great vidio, thanks for uploading. Kind regards Mike. Norfolk. 👍

Hey Mike, I found Pitsford quite different to Grafham in terms of shape, Grafham oblong and very wide and deep. Pitsford narrower and at least where I fished shallower. I enjoy small waters to, but love getting on a boat on a bigger water the best. Glad you enjoyed the video. Tight lines 👍👍👍

Don’t see the point in reeling in and back out again all the line while playing fish

  • @SLSFishing

If you have a lot of line on the deck you can very easily stand on it when the fish runs and then..snap! Not only that if you have lots of line on the floor of the boat it can get tangled, then if the fish runs the line gets caught in the rod eyes and...snap!
