I really liked how some of the early dialog welcomed you, lol...
This video was taped in 2004, and is one of the two videos I took with Sony's Nightshot. I should have experimented with Nightshot further, but the next time I was in the parks in 2005, I was using a new 3-CCD camcorder for my Desert Southwest Vacation, which didn't have Nightshot.
(The CCD video sensor in the video camera I was using sees beyond human visible light. There are filters in front of the sensor that eliminate that light, so you don't see it in the final video. Nightshot removes a filter that allows the sensor to capture near infra-red, giving a much better low light visibility at the expense of color.)
The annoying flashing lights are actually Disney's infrared light strobes, probably their monitoring system, which is why Disney had a problem with video cameras that had an I/R source. The I/R light on the camera can be turned off, which is how I'm taking this video.
Speaking of which, here are my visible light Pirates of the Caribbean videos. The SD Version is the same version as this video, the HD version had the Jack Sparrow update:
Pirates of the Caribbean (SD Version): • Pirates Of The Caribbe...
Pirates of the Caribbean (HD/Post-2006 Version): • Pirates Of The Caribbe...
My other Nightshot video was of Haunted Mansion: • Haunted Mansion (2004,...

Used to have a love/hate relationship with Pirates as a child. When the pirate ship fired cannon balls into the water around us. I remember thinking the water was bubbling lava and if I fell in I'd burn alive. I was not a bright kid back then. Combine that with the saying Dead Men Tell No Tales. I did not feel safe. But I love the ride now! I think every ride needs some level of peril. Makes the happy moments mean something... Anyways! Great footage! Love the trip back in time! Thanks :D

Well, it was never beyond Disney to scare the crap out of us kids! Did it help that they introduced the "Dead men tell no tales" by showing you the dead men who did tell tales? 😁
