I live on the NC coast and have done alot of beach detecting. More than likely all of those concreted coins are zinc pennies. They dont last too long in the salt water before they start to look like that. I started out cleaning those in a rock tumbler, but once they get cleaned up they are so deteriorated that you cant spend them anywhere. I pretty much just throw them in the trash anymore, they arent worth the hassle. Since you are at a location where they get lots of tourists from other countries I would say go ahead and clean them up, hard to tell what you find.

For cleaning badly corroded coins, buy an electrolysis cleaning machine and if the coin is not too badly damaged then buy a small ultrasound machine to clean. A tumbler would just ruin an old coin further.

Good finds. Added all up, might be enough for soda pop or mashed potatoes. If you ever find any Hot Wheels from the 80's or older, I'll take em. The date on base of the HW can be a little tricky. If that model first came out in 2013, they'll keep stamping 2013 even in 2018.
