I have stayed out of this debate for many years but have decided to let all who comment on this video know. Proper procedure and protocol were followed during the whole process of the videotaping of this song. The song was sung to honor the newly born daughter of my friend who is standing at the gateway of the drum the whistle dancer. It’s all about enlightenment and being the best possible people we can, it’s not about who is right or wrong. We can all guess were the right and the wrong point of view will get us, conflict and war. We have seen it through human history and especially in the lives of our own people. What is there to hide? The Creator sees all that there is and I’m sure he does not want to hide anything. Spirituality can be for all want to participate and Creator wants us to share the beauty with all who we encounter. It is better to extend and hand of friendship and love as opposed to one who points a finger of ridicule. The reason that many of these ways are still here is that our people had to go underground and practice their ceremonies in private away from the eyes of a conquering nation. It is a belief system that still has a hold of many of our people. I say spirituality is for all.

Turtleislandmusic With all due respect, that is an beautiful thing that you explained this...yes, it is for us, our people, our sacred ways, our medicine. I know it's a difficult thing to understand for us sometimes, but people will see and hear us in the age of video. And, if people are to see our ways (and they WILL, we in modern times), I couldn't think of a more respectful drum to sing this medicine song...they repped 💯 in a most humble and stoic way

That we men can not beat our women and children..so when ever we get frustrated. We. Take it on da drum . so as u can see how violent we are on the drum .we are not perfect... Love. Is unconditional. My tears cry, because you have lost the trail, trail of tears now full of joy, rejoice. It's time for the returning. The whistle is the horn and call out to all Relatives. This signifies the age of brotherhood, the dawning and third yellow rolling hill in time. your devoted servant, White Buffalo Calf Woman, elder crystal child of the Rainbow Clan

I dont know if its traditional like that in these ways, but i always whistle this song by these guys at least one more full time every time i hear it. And I'm fitna do it for the second time this time. So my serious question is this, is there any old teaching about not singing the same song again in a day after you'd stopped singing that song the first time and then sang another one? You know, put a different song in between the singing of the same song twice or more pushups. This seemed like such an easy question in my mind, but not so easy to ask.

Relative the law is love. Lakota means to stand up, inside the ring of the nine streams. But you would have to know what this means in other words, you would have to listen to your heart. I am not going anywhere and will be standing hear. The Great Sioux Nation are the Spirit of the Lake people, which means, we send the spirit of the Holy Ghost, the soul within to shine. We say, "we are all related". Thus my relative, hate is not on the plate. Love is the reigning factor on all waves. Wbcw lands

Beautiful Truth spoken! Very Spiritual event which made many of our hearts soar also. Very sacred. TY for sharing at this time of Sun Dog... or the prophetic time for this. Look within... see... Creator does see all and knows our Heart and intentions so let's live there. Much respect and gratitude to all.

Although this isn't something I would post, seeing my friends and relatives dancing so hard to this great song has made my heart sing. It's wonderful to see my bro Tommy dancing again, and this video has brought back many good memories of a great time at SIFC pow-wow.
The whistle is the spirit of the dancer, and when the dancer's spirit is lifted the whistle comes out. And only whistle carriers are chosen usually Veterans of Battle

Love this song
Lovely just lovely words can not xpress the honour i feel when hear songs such as this.
We pray to creator for our takozas, children and all the trapped and lost little ones
Thank you immensely for all your song's..
there are many teachings as to why honour songs, and many other songs cannot be recorded. This song was sung to honour that whistle being blown and it is a pretty big faux pas to record this, you see the singers even remove their hats to sing this song song is sung amazing great job. I believe this song was sung at GoN many years ago
They are upset with the camera man because when there is a whistle blower and the traditional dancers are around the drum this is a sacred dance, and recording it is disrupting whats going on "Spiritually" ..

Aniin, I understand that the pipe is sacred and the drums an song and dancing. But it is the only chance for me, to FEEL, what happens. There are not so much Powwows in Germany and I´m glad to visit one, a few weeks ago - far away from my home. There I FEEL the spirit, the energy and the power inside. Pow Wows are open to anyone of any background. It is good to see other people from a different ethnicity want to learn about the native American culture it helps us get noticed by other people who may think we are extinct. Pow Wows are about coming together to celebrate, heal, and have a good time and dance, sing, and enjoy ourselves.

There is a true story. Why. We beat the drum.. A woman came down. From the sky of heavens...brought a stick and drum..offered to us men...so. For the reason. That we men can not beat our women and children..so when ever we get frustrated. We. Take it on da drum . so as u can see how violent we are on the drum .we are not perfect... Love. Is unconditional. Handle with care.. Hiy. Hiy .

Relatives, the drum is the sacred heartbeat. Look for your heart and play the song that lies there, from heaven, from within, on the blue road again.

Does anyone know what year this was recorded?
has to be from 96 97 era
Where & when was this performance?
I dont know if its traditional like that in these ways, but i always whistle this song by these guys at least one more full time every time i hear it. And I'm fitna do it for the second time this time. So my serious question is this, is there any old teaching about not singing the same song again in a day after you'd stopped singing that song the first time and then sang another one? You know, put a different song in between the singing of the same song twice or more pushups. This seemed like such an easy question in my mind, but not so easy to ask.

Relative, thus you need to forgive the white person. Hate is not love. The law is love. Do your fire blessings and prayers, to fall down upon this world, to love her and all your relatives. It's time to dare to love the world. Blue, red, yellow, white, the hoops shine for you, and only together will we, all my relatives, find the way home towards UNITY. Hate does not set you free. I hear your pain. Start to dream. White Buffalo Calf Woman sings for thee!

does anyone know the dancer blowing the eagle whistle???

It's like praying, that dancer is saying "keep going, keep singing, thank you". and you respect that by taking off your hats. He is also thanking them for that song cause it brings back memories.

I see a few people are upset with the cameraman. Can you tell me what it is that was disrespectful,? I'm still learning about the culture ;)
Wbcw lands
Who's the guy with the red face paint? In the old days a gift is given to the drum after the song ends.

This is disrespectful - please take this recording off. Have some respect for our whistle carriers.
U should remove this. Disrespecting the song by recording after someone whistles or fans the drum.
