Pipeline Original - Purple Beer Line Cleaner Tested!

A quick test and run through of how to use purple beer line cleaner in a home bar set up. Some of my lines were starting to look pretty gunky and my usual sodium percarbonate and starsan combo was not shifting the grime so it was time to bring out a proper line cleaning solution and test out its effectiveness. I use this between each keg and it works wonderfully. The lines still look new.

I use this too, just put it in a pump sprayer with a carbonation cap clipped to the hose, Works like a charm. My current lines have been cleaned this way from new and still look the same after about a year and a half.

I was the same as you with originally using sodium percarbonate and star san. I’ve noticed much better results since using this, great product!

I use the same one for a little while now, and it works better with warm water. It cleaned my lines residue very well. 👌🍻

Get a few Y splitters coming off 1 keg and do all the lines at once. Saves tons of time and sanity.

You've got a habit of bringing out the video I need about 3 days before I do the thing you're talking about - it's great :) I got some of this stuff but have been scared to use it so will try it this weekend.

I’ve used that from the start of getting my kegerator with new lines ,my lines are sparkling clean still and I probably clean them every 2 months . Saying that I still need to strip my taps now and again and soak it in the solution as it doesn’t seem to get into all the components. In conclusion I have 4 taps and that massive bottle should last me for a good while. I’m very happy with the product, great vid as always cheers 👍🍻

Great video! I changed to this line cleaner a couple of months ago from cleaning with ChemClean and ChemSan. Its a bit quicker. I only have a two tap kegerator so make up 2.5L and use a pressure sprayer to pump it through

I've been using a similar 'Purple' cleaner (IDEA365 1/100 dilution). Just made the mistake of keeping some in the minikeg, which of course the Chlorine corroded... I now use the spray bottle, hose and carb cap as previously mentioned.

Always used this and still on my first 5l bottle. Although I only ever have 1-2 taps on (need more time to brew!). I usually make up 2 liters at the same ratio, put in an old 2l plastic lemonade bottle with a kegland t-piece / 2x carbonation cap / tube to the bottom type-set-up, then force it through with a spray bottle without liquid to just pump air pressure in. Deffo need to strip taps down from time to time and soak though. I then flush with water in the same way and if the tap is going to stand dormant for a while I run a bit of starsan through and try to drain as best I can. Good video though, don't think you will have an issue with fresh lines and just use this regularly. Cant imagine pubs change lines very often so this must keep the build up down.

Don’t think it says on the bottle but I imagine it will last pretty well as its got a good portion of chlorine in there!

I checked with my daughter ( she uses it in her pub), no limit but I found it separated out over time, a good shake mixes it back together

There is another version of that from the same manufacturer that does a deep stripping clean. Think it's green. Cellar men call it bottoming out I think

Always flush out the beer lines with fresh clean water first, as you are reducing the effectiveness of the cleaner by it trying to clean beer, when you actually want it to clean just the residue of the beer. Also always switch off any remote coolers you may have and let them warm up, as this can freeze water in the lines and in any case reduces the cleaning chemicals effectiveness. The bio-film/yeast/build up in your beer lines shown in the video would occur over time if you do not have the kegs/beer lines chilled to

Interesting stuff, I had looked at getting some of this, currently I still use sodium percarbonate, but I have a small pump with a pipe and carbonation cap attached to the outlet and leave it recirculating for half hour or so, so solution pours from the tap back into the container with the pump. I think the constant movement helps dislodge everything. I then flush and recirc Star San. Not sure I can recirc this stuff?

Thats a great idea and would have been interesting to see if that would have dislodged the crud I managed to end up with, no information to say you can’t do the same with this so probably worth a go

I use the purple line cleaner too, it's great for getting out all the crap. There is 'Gold' stuff you can get by the same people that I'm reliably informed (by Robbie W) is even better. Way too expensive for my tastes though, I'll stick with the purple.

Water------Line cleaner------water-----beer While there "might" be nothing wrong with going straight to line cleaner I am 99.99% sure you first poor through to water then to cleaner (leave it for 10mins then pour 2 pints or so and leave again for 10mins then again)then poor water through several pints then beer again.
