This solved my problem! It was working for months and then one day it started only recognizing my phone (via BT) as the iPod. Thanks for making the video.

Great video man. Pioneer don't make double DIN head units like they use to. About 10yrs ago, the older double DIN Pioneer head units were capable of reading any audio/video formats via USB without having to format or reduce the quality of the media file just to play music music and videos.

Thank you!!! Mine was working fine until I had to change the battery; then all of the sudden "Incompatible USB". I thought I had looked at every menu option; never would have guessed Smartphone Setup!

Try this. Format your pen drive to fat32 file system by selecting format option from your windows PC. Add mp3. It will get recognized automatically ( in case your stereo does not have options shown in the video). I tried a lot and finally this one worked for me.

Also, FAT32 is typically limited to 32GB, but that's only an arbitrary filesystem limitation set by recent versions of Win8 and above. ACTUALLY, it's possible to format FAT32 up to 14TB, using a utility called Fat32 Format for Windows. I tested it using a 128GB card, and it sees it all.

Why I try to plug in my usb because my phone Bluetooth is kinda broken so it disconnect randomly, I put the usb in and it’s says incompatible?

I wonder why, my usb already formatted to FAT32. but the Head Unit still cannot read. Is it because pioneer cannot read FLAC in USB?

I'm trying to get my Samsung a71 to mirror to my pioneer sph-da120 similar to this when I plug it in all the settings are changed what u have shown and all it says is reading format please do not un plug how long should this take I was outside for half hour and still said this message

I think my MacBook screwed up like four of my USB’s. After reformatting some of my USB’s that worked in the deck before it no longer is recognized. The deck says incompatible USB. Tried every single different type of format even reformatted on windows but still won’t work😡

I've just installed a pioneer deh-s720 dab single din to my car.Every head unit i ever had if you scroll through the sources button,bt audio,spotify etc 'USB' will be on that list,but it isn't?? If i put a usb memory stick with music on it into the front USB slot absolutely nothing happens!!Usb auto is switched on in the settings incidenrally,anyone help??

I put a AVH-X2800BS In my Expedition 3-4 years ago. Everything was great for a few years untill the 1st time I paired up my cell phone because the hands free law went in to effect. USB port never worked again. I actually bought another unit to replace it (much cheaper since 2 years had passed). Same thing, it quit working after I paired my Galaxy S10+. I had put the old one on the shelf. I wanted a back up cam in my Excursion, so I installed it, It even retained all the presets and my Cell phone. No USB. Thanks again, I pressed 1 button and USB is there on both my Vehicles.

Hello for those who didnt fix with this way only try to change the usb from GTP to MBR using easy us partition or similar program, it worked for me

I have a different model but thought to ask anyhow just in case: I get mine to play the content of my iPod via usb but it plays randomly and so doesn't start the track I had it on at the place in the track where I last stopped the audio. Any idea how to fix that?

No worries, I realized it has an old fashioned audio jack so I plugged my iPod in straight to that and it does what I wanted it to do :o) @@CliffsHowTo

The exfat format will be no good. Use fat32. Flash drive must be 32GB or less to format in Fat32 or the option will not show up. See if you can set this up via computer management.

OMG!!!! This worked PERFECTLY to fix my AVH-X3800BHS. What a stupid place to put that setting!

Mine keeps saying "incompatible USB" and kickin me off the Bluetooth... I don't even use USB

In mine I fine downloading the videos in 320p or 420p works best. Then you have to convert it into DIVX format

@1:49 Yes the USB must be formatted Fat32 but 32GB is a Windows limitation. I formatted a 64GB USB using a utility from Ridgecrop called fat32format, and my Pioneer recognizes it.

So my flash drive is 64gb and is formated with ridgecrop. Now all of my usb flash drives doesn't work on pioneer? Do you know how can I solve this?

I don’t think you can set up folders. I think all the music has to be in a folder called “music”. Not 100% on that though.

Mine says "unplayable file" any help? Its formated to fat32, 16gb

I think it will only work with thumb drives.

I've got the avh-2330nex and it works. I can hook my phone up to the USB and itll charge and play etc. But the icon is not highlighted in my main menu and doesnt even show up in my drop down menu

If it’s the same model as what’s in the video, then it wouldn’t be. It has to be a specific format, and iPod won’t work.

Same issue I have.

I just bought a 128gb scandisk usb, I formatted it to fat32 using a third party software, and re-loaded my mp3 songs, yet the car stereo still says usb not connected. Yet I have an old Philips 32gb usb and that works fine. What do I need to do to make the stereo recognise my new 128gb usb?

It may be too large. Some radios won’t recognize USBs above a certain size. Check with the manual and/or manufacturer

@@CliffsHowTo thanks. It says in the cars manual that usb that are not formatted aa fat 32 won't work. So I used some software that forces it to be formatted as fat 32. But still no luck. I ended up taking the 128gb usb back and bought three 32gb's in its place and they work fine.

Hi. My iPhone was working fine until I plugged it back in and now nothing is playing. It’s not charging as well. When I tried to change the setting from tuner, aux and USB, there is no USB setting. My radio is a DEH-4400HD. Please let me know how to fix it. The manual hasn’t been any help.

Dude I returned the radio to Walmart apparently theres been an issue ever since ios 11 that iphones get charged but wont connect and play music to newer model double din stereos via the Usb plug

Pioneer's documentation sucks. I also read somewhere that 32GB was the max size but I'm looking again to verify that. On the Pioneer site it says as long as it's formatted correctly size doesn't matter. www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/Mixers/Are+there+limits+to+the+capacity+of+USB+devices%3F

I agree. Kind of difficult to get it working. Also, I have had to spend way too much time trying to get videos to play! I’ve tried all different frame rates, quality, and file types. It just seems random as to which will play and which won’t.

@@CliffsHowTo on mine I could only play videos with a quality of 480p or less, and they have to be converted to AVI/DIVX.
