The pioneer speaker has definitely a much warmer sound but not as sharp as the sony

Sorry to be the bear of bad news but Sony is terrible when it comes to car audio you’ve definitely made a great choice upgrading to pioneer the Sony are made with terrible build quality and don’t last at all that why the cone on your Sony speaker’s make that sound

That's probably because the Sony speaker requires roughly half the wattage than the Pioneer speaker.

The sony is just weak when it come to build quality but pioneer is good they last longer and they sound awesome

I'M SAD THAT THEY STOPPED MANUFACTURING JENSEN S SPEAKERS I LOVED THEM.

Good choice those Pioneers come with great specs, but when it comes to car audio speakers I would rank.on budget speakers 1st Kenwood, 2nd Jvc, 3rd Pioneer,.. Please update us how they keeping up..

Pioneer sounds more balanced. Does it have a better frequency range according to specs? I am aware that the Sony is more worn down but that Pioneer sounds sweet. Secondly, what does 4-way mean? Awesome comparison. Thanks man!

Yes the pioneer has a lot more frequency range because of the extra speaker in speaker. As I said the sony was 3 way but the pioneer is 4 way

Sounds good.. I got these for my fronts and back doors for my 07 escalade with 1" skar tweets .. ima power them with a pioneer gm d874.. 1200 w 4 channel

That will definitely work great. I think that amp pushes 100W RMS per channel

I'll be using it bridged 2 channel benched 378 per channel.. fronts with set 2 sets of tweets from skar.. and rear doors with 1 set of skar tweets..

Hi, I have one too and would it be very quiet, amplifier would help?

Yes they actually work best with an amplifier.

Your head unit not outputting 55w*4 rms.. Its more like 22w rms 🙄

Thanks for the info. Seems like I can still blow a hole in the Pioneers with the Sony's 22w rms. 22w is lots of power!

Haha nope the casing was bent. Must be a result of our poor road conditions.

Try playing some different types of music to hear sound quality..."mumble-rap" doesn't cut it...😒
