    Please note: The Pioneer ND-PS1 is not designed to operate in a metal bumper. I can't provide you with a guide to install under a metal bumper. This will take some experimentation during installation on any given vehicle, to find the proper sensor mounting angle for reliable operation without interference from the metal bumper. I bought the sph10bt for my motorhome and the ndps1 as well. The wires are too short to mount on the rear bumper, but thought I could use the sensors on the front bumper instead. Can this work and would I need to consider any trigger wires?

    This should work fine, but it won't be as convenient as using the reverse gear. Please note, the Pioneer ND-PS1 is designed to operate in a non-metallic location. The ND-PS1 is designed to automatically operate when the vehicle is in reverse gear. The receiver senses reverse gear through the Violet wire with White stripe. It's commonly connected to the reverse lamp. When the receiver senses 12 volts on this wire, it automatically changes to the Parking sensor source. When you take the vehicle out of reverse, the receiver automatically switches back to the previous music source. You can learn more about wiring the system in this Pioneer video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5Z6ldezqsS6Y5M.html The parking sensors should work well in the non-metallic front bumper as long as you put a manual toggle switch on the Violet/White wire that shows 12 volts. This means when you want to use the parking sensors, you'll need to manually switch them on, and when you're done, you'll need to manually switch them off. Please take a look at this setup video for the parking sensors and the trigger wire: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqaOlbepmM2YZrA.html You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZread Channel here: kzread.info

    The Pioneer SPH-10BT in-dash receiver is designed to work with the Pioneer ND-PS1 parking sensor system. I don't recommend swapping out parts from other products. can I install 2 front and 2 rear and have them in working mode - full time - not linked to reverse?

  • @deckerdotto6035

    @deckerdotto6035

    3 жыл бұрын

    The answer is yes this can be done. The receiver's Violet/White reverse gear wire will be needed. It does not need to be connected to reverse in the vehicle. However please note: The Pioneer SPH-10BT sees the Parking Sensor effectively as a source. This means, when the parking sensor is active, all other music sources, for example, radio, Bluetooth, USB are all muted by the receiver. If that's good with you in your particular application, this will work very well. If I was installing this setup, I would install 2 sensors in the front and 2 in the back. I recommend 1 and 2 in the front, and 3 and 4 in the back. This will group the front sensors, and the rear sensors as the right and left on the display screen. I'm not aware of a way to change the receiver or phone display to show front and back. Next, I would install the receiver's Violet Wire with White stripe to a 12 volt source, and set the polarity of the reverse gear wire to positive. This will mean the parking sensors are on at all times when the vehicle is on. I would also put a toggle switch in this wire so I could switch the parking sensors off, buy cutting 12 volts to the Violet/White Wire when I wanted to do so. Where in the car to connect the purple/white wire from indash receiver?

  • @deckerdotto6035

    The Purple/White wire is the Reverse Gear wire and it let's the in-dash receiver know the vehicle is in it's reverse gear and this automatically switches to the Parking Sensor portion of the app and, then automatically goes back to the music source when the vehicle is out of it's reverse gear. One possible place to connect the Purple/White is to the vehicle's Backup Lamp Terminal. I tried to connect the violet/white to the rear positive of the rear light but doesn't work. When I move to reverse (automatic gearbox - smart Roadster) it goes 'grey'. I did connect 'Parking break' with the black lead of the radio. Can you advise please?

    The Pioneer ND-PS-1 has a simple Power and Ground installation. The red wire should be connected to a switched circuit in the vehicle so it will power on and off automatically with the vehicle. Black wire to a tested ground or to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. The Data cable must be connected to the ND-PS1 control box and the other end to the back of the Pioneer SPH-10BT. It can only plug into one place on the back of the in-dash receiver. Please be sure the data cable is firmly connected at both ends and has not been damaged. Additionally I strongly recommend to use all 4 of the sensors plugged into the control box. On the SPH-10BT, I recommend to press the receiver's microprocessor reset button. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. You can find the microprocessor reset button on SPH-10BT behind the detachable face near the center of the receiver. I recommend to reset the receiver. You can see it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqaOlbepmM2YZrA.html Please note, the Pioneer ND-PS1 is designed to operate in a non-metallic location. Plastic bumper, not metal. The ND-PS1 is designed to automatically operate when the vehicle is in reverse gear. The in-dash receiver senses reverse gear through the Violet wire with White stripe. It's commonly connected to the reverse lamp. When the receiver senses 12 volts on this wire, it automatically changes to the Parking sensor source. When you take the vehicle out of reverse, the receiver automatically switches back to the previous music source. A plastic bumper is recommended. I'm not sure what you mean by under the plastic bumper. Please note, the Pioneer ND-PS1 is a proximity alert system. If the sensors are pointing toward the ground, or can "see" any solid object, for example, part of the vehicle, they will continuously read that object as being close to the vehicle. This may defeat the purpose of the product. Thank you, I understand the issue better now. The Violet/White wire on the Pioneer SPH-10BT is used to let the in-dash receiver know the vehicle is in it's reverse gear and this will automatically change the in-dash receiver's operation to the ND-PS1 parking sensor. The Violet/White Wire must sense a change in voltage when you put the vehicle in it's reverse gear, and when you take the vehicle out of it's reverse gear. One possible connection for the Violet/White wire is the vehicles Backup Lamp Terminal. It's a very big missed opportunity that it won't work in a metal bumper. Wouldn't "classic car" people look at this, being single DIN? Was considering this for my RE Capella, luckily I just didn't buy them, so that's a good thing about this video. Thank you

    Pioneer makes many different 1 DIN in-dash receivers including the Pioneer SPH-10BT seen here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZIxkwbmyhKizoJM.html The ND-PS1 parking sensor is not designed to operate installed in a metal bumper. With a metal bumper, you may also consider a Blind Spot and Cross Traffic Detection System like the Pioneer DSA-BS100 seen here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/loCgqplsZpfYe6w.html The SDA-BS100 will work with a metal bumper. While not the same as a parking sensor system it can also be very useful for vehicles in motion when you are baking out of a parking spot. Please note: As of 2019 December, all North American versions of Pioneer NEX in-dash receivers work with Apple CarPlay and also work with iDatalink Maestro RR. When using Maestro RR, you can use the existing factory parking sensors installed in many vehicles and a full display of the Front and Rear proximity alert is shown on the screen of the NEX in-dash receiver. You can see it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eYxsxKeNeM3Am8o.html The Pioneer SPH-10BT is designed for older vehicles, or less expensive vehicles that typically have 1 DIN radio openings and do not have factory parking sensors. The Pioneer ND-PS1 is a 2019 product and is designed to operate with 2019 and newer in-dash receivers that carry the necessary hardware. Future versions of Pioneer in-dash receivers may have this hardware compatibility. Thank you for your answer! I have a relativly old car. Our family's old car which is almost 18 years old (Skoda Octavia I. from 2002 I am from Europe) it's totally functional but it lacks some of our new car's features obviously. It doesn't have a built in parking sensors system those were too unreliable and unuseable that time around not to mention the price was also high. Who could use an only beep-beep system. Despite it's age my car have a possibility to have a 2 DIN radio and I want to equip it with a CarPlay compatible media system and an 4-8 sensor parking radar system (rear and if possible front but the rear is more important). I do not prefer the camera systems because those doesn't measure distance and at night they become less usable while the radar systems working properly at night. The problem is that these systems comes with external display and I don't want to ruin the car's interior with multiple display to every new system. My car doesn't compatible with iDatalink Maestro RR due to it's age and even if it would the car didn't have the required sensors. I am a little clueless what to do.

    The SPH-10BT is an entry level product designed for older vehicles that don't have a 2 DIN opening in the dash. It can bring some modern technology to an older vehicle at relatively low cost. Pioneer makes more advanced receivers that can operate with new vehicles that have factory front and rear proximity alert sensors. You can see an example here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eYxsxKeNeM3Am8o.html This requires the use of the optional iDatalink Maestro RR. Please be more specific with your question. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? Do you also have the ND-PS1 installed in the vehicle and connected to the receiver? What works with the vehicle not started? The receiver? ND-PS1? or both? You may have the ND-PS1 power connection installed incorrectly. I recommend to use a wire that has ~12 volts when the vehicle is on, and powers down when the vehicle is off. @@iConiglio Just to be clear, are you saying, with the engine running...when you put the vehicle in reverse gear, the Smart Sync app on your phone does not respond and change to the back up proximity alert screen. Or are you saying, the App responds correctly to the reverse gear input, but there is no data from the ND-PS1 parking sensor system. Is there any error message on screen? I recommend to power the ND-PS1 from a switched power source that measures ~12 volts when the vehicle is on and measures ~0 volts when the vehicle is off. If there is no response from the app to reverse gear, this leads me to believe this issue is with the purple/white wire connection/installation. I recommend to test the purple/white wire with the vehicle running. It should measure a change in voltage when the vehicle is put in reverse gear and again measure a change in voltage when the vehicle is taken out of reverse gear. There is a setting in the app to adjust the expected change in voltage from positive or negative input as shown here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kX2H2rKmmdHKmZc.html Please be sure to update the SPH-10BT to the latest firmware. I really do not understand why to have the ND-PS1 to work you have to connect also a violet wire on the stereo, i.e. SPH-20DAB , to the reverse gear switch. The installation manual of ND-PS1 says you have to connect power supply of the ND-PS1 to the reverse gear light . So the ND-PS1 already tell to the stereo unit that the car is in reverse gear state since it got power. So why another cable to connect ? And if Pionner wants another +12 volts to the stereo violet wire , why not add a wire from those coming from the ND-PS1 unit ? It is a really BAD DESIGN from Pioneer .

    On Pioneer in-dash receivers, the violet wire with white stripe is used to let the in-dash receiver know if the vehicle is in it's reverse gear or not in reverse gear. When the vehicle is in reverse, this can automatically switch the SPH-20DAB into it's rear sensor mode, and begin to display information from the ND-PS1 parking sensors. When you take the vehicle out of reverse gear, this automatically switches the in-dash receiver out of rear sensor mode and goes back to playing the previously selected music source. The ND-PS1 owner's manual recommends to power the ND-PS1 with the power from the reverse lamp. When the reverse lamp is on, the ND-PS1 is also powered on. When the reverse lamp is off, this will power off the ND-PS1. On certain electric vehicles this type of operation may not be possible. With this type of vehicle the ND=PS1 red wire may need to be connected to an accessory lead that powers on and off with the vehicle. Just because the ND-PS1 has power does not mean you are viewing the rear sensor data. You can find more videos on Pioneer's KZread Channel here: kzread.info
